Where is Rust heading? And what do the game mechanics do to support or break the immersion? The game mechanics are being completely redone now and then, like blueprints for example. I've heard that the tool cabinet was only supposed to be a placeholder - will that system be changed soon? Just wondering since there have been some speculations for a while... But on to the main question that's been on my mind for ages: I'm still REALLY hoping that the salvaging / crafting will get an overhaul: When you mine and dig specifically for metal ore, smelt it into generic homogenous metal units and craft an item out of that, that item is NOT a salvaged axe, nor an axe made out of salvaged materials like break disks and the like. When I saw the first sketches of things like the salvaged axe or the assault rifle, I really felt like Rust was about to become a really atmospherically immersive game where you scavenge for useful things, making the best out of even trash you find. but it seems it's not heading that way. Except for the occasional bean can grenade (which I don't believe people really craft anyway) there isn't much left of what I thought was the original Rust spirit, it's become too detached, too generic, too contrived, it just feels like more of a facade now. Will the element of scavenging and that certain spirit and feeling come back? Are there plans to include more diverse junk that might serve as ingredients? (Sorry if that's not the right kind of question this thread was meant for, but I wouldn't know where to ask this kind of question...)
Where Rust is headed is definitely changing. Fore example, originally it was a bunch of naked white men running around killing each other and building bases. Also it worked on my Linux machine. They haven't finished yet, but they are moving closer to the goal of having naked black transvestites (MtF and FtM - got to have equality) and not having it work on my Linux box. They are about 3/4ths of the way to realising this plan.
BUG in procgen10 - http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1480010
im not sure if it was a mistake but with new update no longer able to research how to make a mining quarry. Are we no longer going to be about to craft these and can only get them in air drops?
Because I'm a 'Filthy Casual' and have a shit laptop without a mouse, whenever I try to select something from the Building Plan, I can't select anything else besides the foundation, same with the hammer, and probably other stuff in which you need to select things like that. So if that's not supposed to happen, fix it please, and if it is supposed to be like that, at least make it possible to do that. Thanks.
External walls does'nt work. Please fix that. :ohno:
Hello, dev team! I play rust since experimental and know legacy only from some gameplay videos. I like the "new" rust but after the latest updates I also have one big question in mind: What kind of game will rust be in the future? I allways thought what rust is a survival game. Starting naked, only with a stone. Like a caveman. Trying to survive against the nature, hunger and other cavemen. And slowly but steady fight and scavange your caveman back to a post apocalypse man with some pre apocalypse equipment. But I have the feeling the gameplay goes more and more the "egoshooter with some survival game aspects" way. With the new machines, the new bp system and the fact that boxes with firearms are more common than before, the gameplay jumps from caveman to "ak and rocket luncher man" faster and faster. And I must say. Sry but I dont like it. I know its only my personal opinion. But I really hope things would slow down a little bit and we would spend more time in "low tech gameplay" before it changes to "high tech gameplay". Thank you
Me i would like and highly suggest , to make player's name visible from a Distance !! I play on a friendly server and sometimes your trying to know if its your friend but you cannot see the name until your close enough like melee distance. I would be really nice if you could aim directly at the guy at any given distance and see its name, It would help friendly servers not doing friendly fire and taking care of Bandits :P ... and in any situation it would be helpful as well !!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH7c-VFgLkE we need another full wipe after this....cmon 3 days ppl duping c4 and blueprints..

I play of the rustafied dev server. Researching on my own-crafted research table seems to be not working. I had a friend make 6 different metal hatchets and I researched each one (with no BP frags). It stated i had a 30% chance (per each "new" metal hatchet), but none produced blue prints. I researched all of them multiple times and still no BP. I'm not certain if that is how it's supposed to work or not, but it seems a little wonky to me. Is researching on your own-crafted research table not working correctly, or is it just me? Thank you.
Hello! How about some toxic weapons. Like you can ´smoke´ dude out of hes base with it, if hes is not using some gas mask.

Hello All, I am not sure if anybody else is having this problem but my game crashes every time Anti Cheat is being loaded. Any ideas why would be great and possibly if anybody may have a fix. Thanks
Hello All, I am not sure if anybody else is having this problem but my game crashes every time Anti Cheat is being loaded. Any ideas why would be great and possibly if anybody may have a fix. Thanks
Similar issue for me. Executable fails to load via steam but can be launched from the application folder. When attempting to join servers it fails due to "EAC Disconnected". I've reinstalled EAC and Rust to no avail. Only fix for me was to roll back using system restore. This resolved the issue for a couple of days but now the problem is present again.
When ever I have an item in my belt equipped and I go to my inventory and drag a different usable item from my inventory (not the belt) onto the active slot, replacing the held item, the new item is displaced and won't function properly. [T]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/634231763164055549/37C29274E8E5A630834CCC38CC5FDBEDAFEDA9B3/[/T] And: People are still not able to harvest or loot bodies that have fallen/slid/danced too far away from where they died. It feels like the distance this happens at might not be an absolute value, but maybe relative to something (the chunk they were in?), as sometimes it seems I can harvest bodies that have fallen farther than others, which I could NOT harvest.
I was just wondering, when will the developers focus more on optimization? I know the game is still in early access, but I know fps is a problem for MOST people when it comes to this game. Most of the time I'm playing at like 15 fps on fastest, with my settings turned down.

At least given their response to the Linux client being fucked, I'm guessing that's their timeframe for responding to anything, or anyone.
Never. At least given their response to the Linux client being fucked, I'm guessing that's their timeframe for responding to anything, or anyone.
Holy hell, dude. Do you ever talk about anything else? The amount of times you come into a thread that has nothing to do with Linux and start babbling about Linux is staggering. Just install a normal OS already. I'm fine with them not focusing on something that only affects 1.68% of people and probably way way less of a percentage of gamers.

Where the fuck do you get off dude? If you bought a game for Windows and it stopped working and the dev said "lol, I'm only developing it for Linux now, fuck off" YOU would be pissed off too. They advertise it as Linux supported so they can fucking support Linux! edit: And of all the threads to complain about being off-topic, you had to pick this one. Where it isn't off-topic.
Never. At least given their response to the Linux client being fucked, I'm guessing that's their timeframe for responding to anything, or anyone.
They are frequently coming back to optimizing. The latest devblog talks about the new version of their PVT system, for example. They fell back to a 3rd party SSAO as well (due to issues with the current version of their own) which is faster too, it seems (well, this is only incidental, but eventually they should optimize their own system too) It makes little sense to optimize things while they're constantly being worked over and refactored, that would always add great overhead to dev time. Every so often, when time is right, there will be optimizations. Sorry to hear about the Linux issues... But just imagine 98.32% of people bitching and moaning about how FP are wasting their time on linux instead of developing the game further. I mean, I'm sure they will attend to that in the end, but I guess they have different priorities right now (although I do feel that the complete failure on one system should rank higher than some skin workshop and adding a guitar... or making sure all characters have different penis sizes)
