It sure would look trippy and awesome as shit lol.

I dig the slingshots honestly. An atlatl would be awesome too. (Spear thrower) Edit: My idea: Have the spear seperate maybe as purely melee (Extended arm of spear provides an advantage to using the spear for Melee. If able to be thrown it has less power behind it and less range) and the atlatl so you can throw them a lot further and more effectively.

Slingshots, Atlatl..... I vote for some primitive Bolas, they're simple and effective..... ....and weave several bolas together to make a primitive weighted fishing net. I love this game, the unrealized potential is mind blowing!

I love the sound of these ideas, especially fishing, slingshots and signs. The first two were good in the N64 Zelda games, and the third is a great idea to go with procedurally generated landscapes. I know what will happen though. It will be near impossible to fish without someone coming up behind you and blowing your head off with a pipe shotgun, and there would also be lots of signs with swearwords on them everywhere.

Fishing, farming, spears, slingshots.... these are all great ideas for a low-tech survival game with scarce resources and somewhat rudimentary firearms... where the main goal is survival and PVP is just that thing that occurs out of necessity. Rust is absolutely, positively not that game at the moment... experimental build or otherwise. I'm curious as to whether they actually plan to take it there, and all that's required to do so.

It's really just the farming that seems out of place to me. The pace seems somewhat wrong for the current state of Rust. In real life farming is such a long term endeavor it takes months of patients and investment before any reward could be reaped. In the meantime if I don't log on for 3 days my house rots away to nothing. How would we protect our crops being dug out by other players? Don't get me wrong I do like the idea of farming it just seems like the current focus of rust is more short term than would be required to really make farming feel like it fits the current pace of game play.

Farming will be a saving grace. The current pace of the game is artificially increased because the playable area is so small. The truth is the game is changing.

Though I would prefer people wearing some sort of scrap metal armor that looks like they made themselves rather than professionally made kevlar. By that maybe just a preference.
