It should have, but honestly this is alpha still. They are likely working on a system to prevent griefing, but they're likely working on a large scale anti grief that works properly which takes time.
I will break into your house even if you sleep and steal every single item you own as well as kill the sleepers inside the building, some might say its a d*ckmove. Also, I could probably feast for years from all the tears I read about people getting murdered in the game, hilarious. but what is the point of actual griefing? That's just unnecessary..
While your style of game-play is frustrating ad not to presume the game developer's intent with the game dynamics but I think they're counting on players like you to encourage groups banding together (factions) inside the game. The ONLY safety in the game is in numbers and having those group members active (taking turns) 24/7. It's the realism that makes this game great. The foundation of civilization was cast upon groups of people coming together to protect and support one another from raiders. When society breaks down, as in Rust, there will always be people trying to take from the helpless. Good Hunting, my friend. I'll be sure not to turn my back on you... LOL [editline]19th December 2013[/editline]
I think that is just a maturity level thing. When you are older and have those moments where you look back and say "why the fuck did I do that?" is kind of under the same line of logic. They just do it because they don't know what else to do. Socializing is not something they are going to be able to accomplish at their level so they just try to get their jollies from messing about.
"Raiding & Pillaging are sooo Un-American", said no Cherokee Indian EVER!!!

Raiders are powerful and you need unity to stop them more often than not. HOWEVER. Its soooooOOOOooooo easy to destroy something for someone atm. And thats an issue. As I said earlier, building shit on your shit should be hard, not just a dick move. Dick moves should almost be promoted. Countering is fun and being a good guy in a bad world feels great. But when being a good guy isnt just "harder" than being a bad guy, its impossible... things just get weird.

I've seen enough death, destruction and misery in real life. I far prefer building and developing new items than bashing in the skulls of every naked guys that passes by. I believe Facepunch's plan is to take zombie elements out of the game (I love zombies but the market is totally saturated with the genre) and replace them with roving bandit hordes. I think roving NPC groups who have turned to cannibalism would be a cool dynamic to add to the game.
Lol with out griefers you would just walk up, build a house and get end game stuff. Not saying they aren't complete assholes, js they are like bears, wolves or zombies

Not saying they aren't complete assholes, js they are like bears, wolves or zombies
I once got a shotgun when spawning near a radiated zone. Took me a whole 2 minutes to get an M4 and full kevlar, another 5 to get a research kit and learn them all. Griefers dont just become a static delay of progress, they SOMETIMES rape the fuck out of you. Its not a stable mechanic of the game. All I think is that it should be HARD to grief someone. So you would need a proper reason to actually do it, not just "hey I dont like this guy, lets build a fort around his fort so he can be locked in when hes locking himself in!".
