The majority of you guys are the most whiny, demanding, unsatisfied group I've ever had the displeasure of trying to forumtize with. It feels like almost nobody truly understands what it means for a game to be in alpha, what having alpha access means, and what Garry and his team do every day. And the fact that you need weekly communications is just sad. I'm done with this forum, because every time I come here I just end up annoyed with the lot of you, and the few who actually know what's going on never appear to be heard or taken seriously. Seriously, you guys need to grow up.
Lata gataz!

Uhh, your point? They have updates from yesterday on there as well.
Not sure why you'd dislike something just because it stores the old posts as well.
Just take a look:
https://trello.com/b/lG8jtz6v/rust-main
Yes there have been games that go through alpha and beta development much faster...Those games SUX ARSE losers
another updateless week because garry never expected sell so much copies when it was an alpha, so now he knows he doesn't need to put a whole lot of work on it because it sells the way it is. simple business logic, we sold 30-50 millions of dollars the way it is, if we put all that money back to game development we won't make more 100-150 millions, that's it.
Ugh, I hate this subforum so much

Imagine the hell that would break loose if Garry reintroduced Smartness for this section.

Or you could take 5 minutes to say something a little different. It's unbelievable the attitude you take with the community. I've been following this game for 3 months and I've already seen you run the line from smart ass to butt hurt with the community. Grow the hell up man.
The worst part of this all is that you come off like you are being bothered in your posts. Not like you are talking to the people who just made you a fucking ridiculous amount of money. Don't take it out on the community because "Facepunch" was unprepared for the reaction this game got. Try and remember who monetized this alpha yea?
Most of us are not game developers, but many of us have seen the development process for many many games over the years. The general feeling (outside of this face-punch forums bubble) is that you were unprepared for this (nothing wrong with that, this game sky rocketed), and that you guys don't know what you are doing. To the average person this is backed up by the fact every-time your team modifies this game, more shit breaks than was fixed. Not to mention, again from the outside looking in, that for a game this popular the pace of development appears to be extremely slow.
Whether any of that is true or not, that is how it appears on the outside. Facepunch could win so many people over though if they had someone who actually addressed/managed the community. Right now, the amount of community interaction from your studio points to you not giving a fuck. Every-time that you personally speak, you re-affirm that with your attitude. Man up and pay a college kid to post updates and answer questions all day. Do you really not see how having someone dedicated to that would make your life easier? How that would win so many people over to your cause?
I also hope by now that you realize that this game may have peaked way way before it was ready. Regardless of what you do to the game going forward, it will be tough hill to climb for it to reach the popularity it has hit at this point. That is the nature of gaming, something new is always over the horizon and people either forget or just don't come back. Again, you could address this by building a good relationship with your community(either you or someone who doesn't get so emotional) at this stage, so that people are actually invested/excited about this project. As opposed to either dismissing or shitting on them every-time you talk.
And two things I am so sick of seeing
1. READ THE TRELLO!! Fuck the Trello. It is a really nice feature for those who care to weed through it, but that isn't how this works. Why is that the only people who don't seem to get this are Facepunch forum members?
2. THEY ARE WORKING REALLY HARD!! Many of us work really hard as well. I bust my ass all week long. I certainly don't have time to update my clients on every single little development with their issues, but I have to if I want to keep them. Because that is how this fucking works. And I definitely don't talk to them like Garry talks to his customers. I'd be out of a job in a goddamn instant.
What do you mean they do "not bother to update it"? It was last updated yesterday.

An fps graph...yay? It is not important...and that was last posted on the 26 march.
"wonder if @tombutters has done the new rocks yet - would be nice to see how they look with this."
new rocks...well I'm super excited to see new rocks...
How do they decide what they update? Frankly, they're not choosing the right things.
I would love if they kept the trello up to date, i follow it everyday. I don't mind if they repeat things.
They could say something like "Hey guys, still working on this feature or what not, but this is how we're coming along with it..we've completed this and that part of it, this is what's left to be done"...Something along those lines would be great! :) Just any update, communication.
This is my opinion.
My suggestion is: everyone start to ask for refund from steam -> that way they might send a message to Facepunch. There has been reported bugs and exploits over a month or more and no updates to get rid of those. I know its Alpha, doesnt it mean that it should be updated/worked more frequent/harder than released Beta or v1.0?
Why r u crying about no updates ?
The game is awesome and for me its a perfect game.
Ever playes strandet 2 ? Awesome old survival game with no content.
Kids these days want everything and now ?! Wtf go fishing and learn 2 w8 m8 ...sry 4 eng

Wrong.
This graph is very useful to investigate and help pinpoint the cause for the framerate issues.

I know what an Alpha means and i wont complain, but you may want to think about that:
During the last 4 weeks there have been roughly 30-40% less Servers in the (crappy) Server browser and about 40% less People on it.
A lot of People leave due to the fact that there have been a lot of weeks with no Content update. And a good part of them wont return.
As i said.. just a thought.

I dont post much on these forums, I usualy just watch the flaming while i check in on trello from time to time on a daily basis.
According to trello they have been taking on some rather huge core projects such as map generation, item editor, GUI and i'w also seen hints about converting to Unity 5 and go with SpeedTree
These are all very VERY good things and adding new content at this stage would be ONLY to satisfy the community while they would probably have to redo the content in the end anyway.
personaly i have never played a alpha before, lots of betas though, and 99% of those where open just before the retail, so most of the content was already in it but i THINK that this game is great even for an "10% finished alpha".
But what I keep seeing on the FP forums are mostly "why dont you add X, this is a gamebreaker!" or "why dont you fix Y!" or the worst one... "your prioritys are ALL WRONG!"
In the end who can really say wich is most important between X and Y and EVERYONE has their own oppinion about what to have as top priority.
The only thing I know is that if i had a project with THOUSANDS of angry gamers behind my back screaming at me what to do and how to do it and in what order I would probably try to keep my mouth closed aswell since NOTHING constructive would come out of it.
I'w read some good posts about "the game peaking to early" and yes, i think i must agree to this aswell. But saying that they have to change to keep/get back the community is a bit harsh... I think the only real answer is the only answer no one wants to hear... just wait, if the game has to little content atm them come back later. if there are some aspects of the game that you still enjoy just focus on them.
Many of you complaining about no updates, no content or even "to many hackers to even play" usualy have 300+ hours spent already... that alone is often more then i spend on finished games for twice the $...
This project doesn't seem to be finished any time soon, and maby that is for the best since i would NOT want to see this project rushed in to anything. I rather see it loose half of the playerbase with the finished product than a full playerbase and a half-assed game.
EDIT: Oh and for all those "we gave them X millions moneys, they owe uss!" they dont owe you shit. you didn't INVEST in the game, would be better if you started looking at it in a way where you got early access by donating, 'cus thats basicly what you did, you gave them money to be ably to join the alpha... thats it.
And what they do or do not do with these millions is none of our business, in the same way you are not a shareholder in coca-cola company and get to say anything you want about the coca-cola production just 'cus you bought a soda.

so much sense in the above
the main point being is the gui and with the new gui everything needs to work so all the code that has been written in the game so far needs to be rewritten and tweaked to get the new GUI to work.
Pushing updates for the sake of updating will result in those update having to be rewritten to converted/ tweaked to work with the new GUI.
when you purchased the game you were told it was early alpha and alpha comes before beta heck even AAA titles have issues when they are out and don't recieve update for mnths to patch them.
This is the gaming business and thats the way it works stop complaining heck even stop playing till a new update comes out.
we are using Oxide to extend the life of rust via tweaking it maybe others should try this also.

Edit:
I mean it's funny because every 3-30 post 2013/2014er bitched about how much they wanted to buy the game regardless of being an alpha then complain about it and say "IF YOU WERENT READY YOU SHOULDNT HAVE MONETIZED IT EUHUEHEUEHUEHEU".
Maybe it's facepunch users only because we actually saw this entire thing unfold, unlike you.

Well, since you've stated multiple times you are going for weekly updates, yes, it would help immensely. A simple. no updates this week is fine. All we want is some sort of continuing communication. Communications regarding the status of official servers would also be stupendous. The North America 2 no pvp server has been down almost a week with no communication from the team and things like this are turning alot of people off to the game.
Side note: You sound really condescending and it's not appreciated.

Nail, meet hammer head......
I'm a VERY patient person but I have to agree that a small weekly note on what's going on would be very appreciated. Even if it's just to show us, the people that will keep your game played, that you're still caring. Of course you all have work to do but a small note with two or three sentences would be enough (for me) and it shouldn't eat all your time. Put yourself in our place... Wouldn't a small, weekly note be nice to your game community?
It's like serving a little bisquit to the coffee. It doesn't take much but makes people happy.

This is patently untrue and would be apparent to anyone who had even the slightest speck of software development knowledge and should be apparent with even a small amount of reading comprehension skills, as this is not even remotely what Garry said on the matter.
You should limit your responses to your expertise with name calling and abuse, it's what you apparently know very well.
actually, yes that right now did help.
you just informed the few lucky people who will look at this post that indeed there is no update coming this weekend.
Perhaps it's very hard for you to understand this but some of the people who bought your game actually want to keep updated like that. even if it seems pointless to you.
and indeed, just a couple of words like that just now do the trick.
They must be out of their minds or be little kids that need a 'pat on the head' i guess...

This shit is no substitute for good communication.
I don't know how long you've been following the Trello, but there are things that have been added that were never even hinted at on Trello, and there are things that sounded like they were making great progress and had great momentum and then just disappeared. It is an interesting insight into what is going on, but it IS not a developer-to-the-community communication device and is no substitution for one.
Others made a really good point in that THEY were the ones who wanted to strive for weekly updates. It's hardly an unreasonable expectation that this would at least mean weekly communication updates if they aren't able to hit weekly delivery updates. If things truly are exactly where they were a week ago and there isn't possibly anything you can think of to say (hard to believe), then they should say that, and they should do it without being an ass about it -- they are the ones that set the expectations.
