Make the bow and arrow craftable for fresh spawns.

As a past fresh pawn, finding guns, and recourses is pretty hard while trying to make a base at the same time where you can put said stuff. Maybe make the bow 30-50 wood, and have the arrows 1 wood and stone or 1 wood and metal to make stronger arrows. As I've seen its pretty hard and you might have a better chance of defending yourself with the new stone hatchet and a bow.

Making a 9mm is practically easier than making a bow :/
Cheer!

Cheer!
it could require the same amount for a 9mm but in wood form possibly?

Or it could be more powerful if it was a bit harder to get than the 9mm

A wooden bow doing more damage than a 9mm... Logic!
And if they make it craftable right off the start, it will be MUCH harder for fresh-er spawn.
Here's the scenario in my head:
Guy A: Map wipe! Let's gather some wood.
Guy B: Oh, hey! Someone with a rock at a wood pile. Luckily, I just crafted a bow. How about I shoot him from far away without even giving him a chance to get near?
Adding the furnace made guns harder to get, being able to make the bow so easily will do the oppisite of that. I don't want to go out to gather wood only to get shot by a naked guy with a bow.

The bow should be craftable from start, because that is what will help freshspawns to protect themselves and not the otherway around.
Cheers!

I like Granujo, he knows how it works.
I'm not sure about in the real world if a bow can or cant do more damage then a 9mm pistol but for in game I'm guessing the bow would be harder to use and travels at a slower speed so it might make sense to up the damage if that the case. Bows disadvantage of been harder to use, slower speed and longer reload speed should make up for the increase damage and still make 9mm pistol a better weapon
Bows really should be easier to make then a 9mm and should be crafted just as easy as a stone hatchet. After all bows have been around a long time in real life so it makes sense in game for it to be the first long range weapon you can get.
edit: also with reload speed a bow has a lower rate of fire compared to a pistol
I personally think the bow is balanced enough — note that when you craft arrows, you actually craft five of them at once! So the cost is actually not that high.
Since you are here MaxofS2D, a lot of peeps are complaining about the fact that arrows are OP for destroying bases. Do you think the patch would be made "quickly"? (any possible ETA, like today tomorrow?)
I know it is hard stuff... carry on!
Cheers!
The idea of the bow is to just nerf it a tad, but make it easily accessible by fresh spawns just so they could have a ranged weapon of sorts, but don't let it be so easy to get so you don't get one right when you start. you have to earn it in a way.

Whenever Helk/Pat get back online I'm sure they'll figure out what's causing it and fix it quickly :)

I, unlike most people, handcrafted a wooden bow and arrow in real life myself, and fired it. (The arrow was wooden as well). It wasn't THAT powerful, surely not as much as a pistol.

Also if you would read what I said earlier "The idea of the bow is to just nerf it a tad, but make it easily accessible by fresh spawns just so they could have a ranged weapon of sorts, but don't let it be so easy to get so you don't get one right when you start. you have to earn it in a way." you would realize that you having to contradict everything I say for no reason helps none. I don't care about the power of it, I just want fresh spawns to have a chance because a rock sure as hell isn't a long ranged weapon. How does a fresh spawn protect himself from a kevlar guy with a gun if all he has is a rock, he will get obliterated, at least he will have a fighting chance if he has a bow.

Maybe even make the blueprint easier to find?

This is not a simulation, get over it please.
In reality, you don't drink water to get down your radiation level or stuff like that.
But the games is great because the Gameplay is awesome (and so the bow has to have some power to make things balanced).
I shoot some arrows time to time, and I can tell you something. An arrows does a lot of damage (depends where it lands).
Just enjoy the game man.
Cheers!
There will be a new low-power, homebrew pistol available soon... :)

Sold, but it better be able to mount a flashlight and lazer!

From what I understand just saying that you handcrafted a wooden bow and fired is not a fair representation on how powerful a bow can be as there is different pull weights and from what I understand from a friend who made his own different wood can also effect the bow pull power.
edit: I know that saying that you did something on the internet is also not a fair representation

And I agree that games should be more focused on balance than realism and even if the bow was made stronger 9mm pistol will still have the advantage.
Realistic behaviour is extremely often something that does not translate as entertaining in game design.

Will there be a 50/50 chance of it backfiring and killing yourself? That would be super if that happened with every gun, cuz face it - most people can't build a decent camp fire IRL let alone smelt their own 556 ammunitions. I smell a super-realism server mod like this in the future :suicide:

When weapon conditioning gets implemented later on, you might have negative consequences to not maintaining your guns properly
Have to say that gun looks like it could be a bit of fun, depending on the damage and such. If its more complicated than a normal 9mm and does less damage then you may not see too many of them around in the game.
Looks like Wood / Stone / Metal ? Which would mean you'd still need a furnace
THIS IS AWESOME!
It ıs exactly what I expected.
It fits just great with the game.
excuse me while I ll light my spliff, oh Jah I gotta take a lift :)
I hope that pistol has some spray to it. It must have a long reload time.
