Lol most complaints, to OP this thread will be a bit biased, considering most people are too busy enjoying it ;) Tbh, it was a leap of faith, but when I joined it was free, it looked alright in the videos , and a bit crap/ rip off of dayz/minecraft. But the formula is great, I'm having such a blast playing it.
I'll give it a shot once it comes out. I hope to God it isn't free, though
The game is in alpha never the less it still runs good on a well-built PC with the only lag in the game is server lag. The game does have an intense survival concept around it and does present itself in a well-design manner. The player starts off with nothing but an ax, flare, and med-kit, however this arsenal expands once you gathered the necessary resources to produce an armory of weapons, armor, and your own fortress. However the game does need work and mechanics aren't set and stone. Changes are administered into extremes to ensure proper and fair fixes, which leads hardcore playing very difficult due to numerous wipes and instant changes. As of now its in a testing stage to ensure proper mechanic and game play for the future and not suited for those looking for a substitute for their life.
I like the game, its fun to gather materials and make stuff. Work with or against other players and hunt for new blue prints. ^_^ Also hacking people to death with an axe is hilarious >:)
Honestly, the whole idea of 'crafting, open world, zombies, building' is getting overused as hell - and seem like the devs are trying to cash in on the success of DayZ and Minecraft. Doesn't mean I don't want to try it out, but at it's current point it just looks generic and boring.
It has potential, but its kind of hard to see it. Its been thrown around already, but it is an Alpha at the moment and a lot of games are quite crude in the Alpha stage. It also amazes me with all the apparent children who are willing to humiliate themselves and fall for scams and such to get access. Other than because its currently "kind of like those other zombie survival games, but with light building elements and it plays in a browser for free!!1" and how apparently people in the alpha get the game when it goes live, I don't really get WHY. I've been in quite a few alpha and betas and have never seen the kind of frothing maniacs so desperate for game access. I bet nothing we will never hear from most of them once Rust goes live and commercial, other than an occasional "can someone gift me Rust!" and the like. TL, DR: The game itself is alright, but what its done to the forums is more entertaining.
It's a long way from being done. I'll say that much. We'll know eventually whether it's just another <Insert Special Feature> Sandbox.
Kids that are like "hurrr minecraft and dayz!!1" are ruining great potential for the game. It's becoming boring and bland, and I hope it will improve very much so in the future.
You can't see anything other than your axe.
It had potential, but the community is now absolute shit.
I think once the hype dies down and more people can get in game and try it out, some will stay and some will leave, then we will get a more established and tighter community.
It has loads of potential, will not comment until the game is fully released.
All it needs is VoiP.
All it needs is VoiP.
no that'd be like putting voice chat in minecraft
no that'd be like putting voice chat in minecraft
how else am i going to be an ORDER OF THE HOLY FLARE evangelist?
People have to remember how early in the alpha it still is, they aren't even in the phase of adding cool additions to the game to make it fun, they are still just making sure the game runs well and is stable
What are your impressions about Rust ?
Considering there are no keys available, and the only choice is to watch the hackers/streamers (such as most of the warz streamers) play the game, not much fun. This "can I haz key" is very much like the madness released when Bungie was giving out Recon Helmets to Halo players...
Mother fucking best game in 2013 (sarcasm).
Its a good game, funner if you have a good group of friends to play with. However, all there is to it right now is taking peoples stuff and fine tuning your building skills, and once you're the best at it, there is not much else to do. Once they add more stuff, i'm sure it will be funner.
Its got potential but recent updates are pushing the game in the wrong direction of success.
i think i want a key so i can play
I love it, Although that may not say much because I'm overall just obsessed with pure survival games. But from what I've seen, and the fact that its still in a very early Alpha stage, it seems to be a great game with huge potential. Maybe the reason the community is "shit" is because it consists of a lot of young children who luckily got an alpha key rather than the more mature community who want to help. Just a thought.
