• Offline raiding is the only thing really holding this game back...

once in a while people just suggest complete bullshit. there are plenty of options to defend against offline raiding.
Recruit people from outside of your timezone if you're in a clan and if you're solo people probably won't care if you're online or offline so have fun depending 5 people on your own,
stop destroy ur loot when online raiding then we can talk.
Man, looks like a lot of people like griefing. ;) Lmao Like I expected, EVERYONE took my suggestion literal when I instead suggested people try to think of something better. GG
Raiding is not in anyway greifing, its one of the main aspects of the game. and honestly no one needs to think of something better. you should not be restricted to only raiding when someones online or any other bullshit along those lines. You should have to either work or be smart to keep your base while you're offline. hell, I usually only build fairly small bases and I have never had a problem with being raided all the time, last wipe cycle my base on Sydney facepunch 2 lasted more then 3 weeks, and it didn't even get raided in the end, it decayed because I got bored and didn't go on to check it enough. if you think offline raiding is a problem you're clearing doing something wrong, or you're just not good enough at preventing it.
To back up my statement i took out a guy in his base and when he realized we got into his first 2 airlocks (because he opened the doors and got killed) he started despawning and shooting all his ammo into the air ... If you cant be a good sport about getting raided im going to wreck you wile you sleep

If you are ready and you are offline we aren't going to sit and wait for you to come back on, we are going to blow in.
Let me share a story.. A story in a land where bolties don't reign supreme. OP plays ( played? ) on Medieval Rust server -- No kos / no building past stone
I really do love this game and I can handle losing a fight
My experience with OP... I witness him in a bow battle with another fellow. teddy had two friends with him I believe. Upon arriving to the scene, sgtteddy opened fire on me. And so I, being a reasonable man, joined in on the fight and down went the teddybear. He proceeded to spam chat with salty banter and even stooped to throwing in some personal attacks at his predator. I still have your key teddy ;) Have you tried hiding your loot in sporadically placed stashes, op? There's two sides to offline raiding, ya know. Don't be so salty when you're the victim. I lost all of my shit today, but I wasn't raging in chat. On top of that my base is completely irreparable due to new overlapping building privileges. Boo-hoo. Go make a better base. Tonight we had a VIP member ragequit the server because "fucking admins help people raid." Classic. Ignoring the explicit rules that allow prison doors for RP prisons ONLY and instead using the doors to protect loot. Reported. Doors taken down. Profit.

I've build an offline raid protection for Rust, that iScripters linked above. For everyone that consider offline raid to be part of Rust, they don't have to use it, and there's plenty of servers that allow it. But for me, as a person with a job, a hobby and some friends, offline raid was game breaking. To farm every day hour or two, just to return back to the game and see nothing was left of my efforts... So I decided to code and fix the issue for my server, but I also made the plugin public, so other people can use it on their servers. Anyhow, how it works: 1. Protection for buildings lasts for 24 hours after you log off. 2. If you're part of the Clan (Tribe), protection lasts from the moment last member from the tribe log off. 3. System implements automatic shared doors system for tribe members, and non-tribe players can't use other people doors, code lock or no code lock. That prevents players using bases from players that are offline and protected. 4. If a player gets attacked or he attacks someone, he gets a "pvp flag" that lasts for 20 minutes. If flagged player disconnects, his pvp flag timer will be extended another 20 minutes and his base will be raidable in that period. That prevents people from log off while they are being raided. I've encountered two issues with this system. One was - pick axing on-line players is hard, and sulphur gather is too grindy, so raids are too risky. Also, you could always out build other players, even more after they buffed the sheet metal. So the plugin also raises sulphur gather rate by 100% Other problem I've encountered - since buildings and doors are "owned" by the players that placed them, you can't really take over a building. I'm dealing with this problem right now, and tomorrow I'll issue a new version, where you'll be able to take over buildings from players that are more then 3 days offline, if you have building permissions in that area. In a few days I'm going to implement a "war" mechanism for Tribes. So Tribes will be able to declare war on other Tribes, and while they are at war they'll be able to take whole bases when they raid them, if you managed to get the cupboard building permissions. So, if anyone wants to use the Plugin, feel free to contact me if any problems arise, or if you'll have any questions.
This argument has been beat to death. Really raiding and the crafting for raiding would need to be reworked. The main reason why people raid offline is because it's extremely hard to raid a online base. And before any differing anecdotal responses come through, you're wrong. Really what's holding this game is the HQM requirement for any real advancement which requires a significant about of time. Before you could get a shity base and be able to defend yourself fairly quickly. Losing a base used to not be that big of deal because you could get back on your feet in a day of grinding. I stopped playing until they figure that out, so has everyone i used to play with. Getting raided and losing your house is ok. But getting raiding losing your house and not being about to craft any weapons that can actually do damage against raiders fucking up your shitty 1x3 is just infuriating. Not to mention not being able to find a HQM source is essentially game breaking because you cant advance. You have to have a HQM source to get any advancement now. The nodes don't give anywhere near an acceptable amount, 80% of the time the HQM is already mined out. Since the update where they spread out the nodes and don't have concentrated areas of them, it takes hours of just running around to get enough for 1 AK. Inb4 play community servers.
Dude, you should just play on a community server. I play on a 50 slot with a daily avg around 30. Nodes rarely have HQM mined out already. How many guns do you need? Since the last wipe I have about 400 HQM, two sets of facemask/chest plate armour. I also have an AK and a bolt. I rarely carry that stuff on me and typically only carry a cross bow + w/e I scavange. I've died a couple times, sure but I've never lost anything worth any value. Do you always need to be fully decked out or something?
The solution is simple. Learn how to use stashes. I've been raided 6 times since the last wipe and the most valuable item stolen was armored double doors and two survey charges. My base is a place I use to smelt and to guard my sleeping bag from ill intent miscreants. I also use it to soak the c4 and rockets of my enemies. They can never resist wasting all their precious resources breaking into my armored vault to steal my uncooked pork and leather. XD

But I do agree with your final point. And my system doesn't negate it. I was raided on my server the other day. Raiders did get something, but most definitely not the most valuable stuff. Even with offline protection all the methods you and other players mentioned throughout this thread as a way to avoid being hurt bad while offline are still viable and necessary. Only thing my offline protection system provides is a peace of mind while you're not playing.
will happens ever... no matters what you want, i want raid a base, fuckup if the owner are online or not, even if a have all resources. i will raid with players online just if i don't scout well the base, or i don't care about loose stuff... anyway if i own a base and this happens, someone had resources, and know how to raid me... if i just want a pvp with bases i will play other game, offline raid is the main way to raid and is awesome, because is a pure good mecanic wait the victim down they guard

Feel like im playing against sanctioned hacks, and any moment you can just banned for whatever stupid reason they feel like. There just is too much risk to put time into those servers for me. I've been banned from more than a few community servers for dumb reasons, my favorite is when a group of kids cry hacks then poof you're banned.
Actually, ESP is the hardest thing to counter, apparently. Blame RakNet?
How is it the hardest thing to counter? Does it not inject code into Rust's active memory while it runs? Are it's users not getting banned by EAC or VAC?

Also you're the one who started bitching in the chat.. does it really seem likely for someone who just killed another player to be all "OHHH GET OWNT KID" in the chat? Then you went on to claim "I was only responding to the chat" after the 4 minutes or so When you were actually the one who initiated the QQ in chat AND saying someone else who stole all your loot was salty one??
