I have to totally agree with you but that is all I will say in fear of me getting banned from the forum again.
Don't you even mutter another word ever again
I am sooo sick and tired of hearing about "alpha alpha alpha" That's because it's an alpha. An unfinished product that you invested in - and you were told beforehand that it wasn't going to be finished before you invested in it.
do you realize that this game has sold over 500,000 copies?
its been in "alpha" for 7 fucking months. Alpha can mean any stage of the development, so maybe it was actually started 7 months ago? Maybe, y'know, a team only really started to form when it looked like a feasible thing. Take into account that maybe they had other stuff to do and Rust wasn't their main goal. There could've been the whole team on the case or just a single person cobbling together a prototype from Unity.
they dont address anything, they have no vision, they have no idea where they are taking this game and the evidence is splattered all over the walls. this team and community loves to have it both ways in regards to player imput. they want the illusion that players are helping to develop it, but then they ignore users when it benefits their agenda. This is somewhat correct. I'd say their reasoning is because they know they've made a rip-off of DayZ, but want to make it their own unique baby. As for not addressing everything - I highly doubt the releases we get (and the blog posts about those releases) are like their own builds that are being worked on.
I understand that they are a 'small team' or whatever, but thats not a good thing any more. this game is losing players because of MAJOR issues.
first up: cheaters. cheaters run rampant on the OFFICIAL SERVERS. stop for a second and think about that. facepunch can't even pay some random guy $8 an hour to teleport around and take care of all the people speed hacking, jumphacking, whatever on their own official servers.. (this may have changed but i havent been back in a while, the point is, for months blatant speedhackers were having a field day on the official servers specifically because there were no admins. really speaks to their priorities) if you think cheatpunch is the saving grace, think again. you see cheaters all the time, and they will continue to find a way. we are stuck with the reality that cheaters are here to stay in rust I think that Garry's just waiting for the timebomb that is VAC to go off. (Remember, VAC bans everyone logged in one go) I think cheatpunch was their 'quick' fix in an attempt to curb some of the hackers. When the core game mechanics are more defined, I think then they will take hackers more seriously. Because at this stage, if not for early-access, there would only be a small pool of beta testers trying it. It's not designed for mass use yet, and they want to get the damn thing fleshed out before worrying about exploits.
Next up: The lag and ddos attacks are FIERCE and there is nothing they can do about it. if they could, they would have done something about it by now. if they haven't done it yet, they aren't working hard enough or spending enough resources to get it done. guess what? "game's in alpha." I personally have never experienced this lag from ddos's everyone is on about. Just change server and be done with it? (It ain't Garry's fault that cheating 11 year olds are upset about being banned )
'alpha' or early access games is the best marketing scheme to hit the video game world since i can remember. it just strings people along indefinitely and creates optimism that things will just get so great when the game is 'actually released'. "dude, game is in alpha, what do u expect" is becoming a huge copout answer. Hang on, for the other popular game, DayZ, they explicitly tell people not to get it. In the description it says "only get if you want to help development". It's not a marketing scheme or ploy, its because people are too fucking stupid to realise that they're not buying a game - they're investing in its development and so are being graciously offered the chance to beta test.
its absolute bullshit. this dev team is NOT putting their full effort into this game, and no one, especially on these forums, has any balls whatsoever to face realities. And you would know this how? You have no idea what they're doing. I honestly doubt that all they do in a week is what they release for us, I just expect that's the most complete bit they're working on.
people love to throw around "game is 10% complete". yikes. 7 months of alpha and the last 3 months we have seen, get ready for it: Hey, it's better than minecraft!
placeholder zombies replaced with red animals at the expense of gameplay because of some ego trip that this can't be in any way related to zombies, heaven forbid. Well the zombies were there because they didn't know what the game was going to be. I bet the mutant animals was an incredibly quick change made because people were moaning about the zombies.
locked backpacks (laugh)
new node graphics
faster craft time on workbench
durability added to items (which btw the community thinks is not executed correctly) Really? I think it's because of the models. They're too perfect and military like, when in reality you've made a gun out of bits of metal you burnt out of a rock and heated together. Didn't use an anvil to temper it or hammer it into a consistent beam. When you think like that, it makes more sense.
new sky (moderate fps improvement) I'm pretty sure the sky wasn't just a texture replacement y'know.
broken airdrops and hunting bow glitch
yes i understand that im being pessimistic. I will get flamed to oblivion because of all the complete braindead sheep on here. Welcome to the Rust subforum, may I take your hat? thats okay, its the internet. it's to be expected. i simply want more accountability from the developers and would love to see some people open their fucking eyes that we are getting robbed here. It's not robbery. They didn't promise you they would finish it in a week. You assumed that when you clearly made the mistake of buying it. It's not robbery when you willingly give them money. this game will die. you may ask, why do i care so much? well, i thought this game was going to be different than all the anticipated video games in the last 10 years with phony reviews, countless MMOs with major mechanics promised only for them not to be implemented, blatant robbery from this 'early access' loophole (age of conan, etc.) facepunch is laughing all the way to the bank keeping their small, boutique dev team or whatever it may be, but its going to kill this game if it hasn't already. this game had so much potential, and can possibly be salvaged, but i will be done playing until the next update shows me something.
Right, just made my thoughts on the various parts of your post.
-entitlement-
Good, we don't want you here
We do share ur pain and hope they will make us a surprise soon like big addon with things we asked on forum.
Why do people respond to the OP as if they are the developers? It is almost as if any attack or question made towards the developers or the game itself is viewed towards some people.
It is almost as if they play the game so much, the game is their lives, and any attack on the game is an attack on them, because they have no lives.
I agree with OP. I'm having tons of fun with the game but none of the patches have added to this fun. When i try and complain about it i get flamed by fanboys (talking about you elixwhitetail) and banned by nazi forum mods. I did come up with a good idea during my last time in timeout...
The base of the game is genius and thats why its so fun, but everyone has arguments about what the game should be. How about the devs just make dinosaurs, zombies, robots, AK-47s, rocket launchers, swords, or anything you can think of. Then let the servers decide what items they want. Give them the tools to let the server decide what kind of game it is.
Stop playing the game. This is like the 5th post i say this. Why in the world would you buy an incomplete game and cry abou it being incomplete? Really? Go play something else and let the dev work.

I have been banned before also, no reason was given, but I suspect it was because I insinuated that the game wasn't perfect.
Sit down, shut up, and drink the cool-aid kids.
gee it's almost as though games take time to make!
When you order a burger at Carls Jr(cause they are TASTY!)and they come back and give you a chicken sandwich, you have a reason to complain. Cept in this case you ordered a burger and they give you a burger...and the burger is good. But while eating it, Carls Jr comes up to you and says "well everyone else is eating a burger here so we are going to take it away and give you chicken".

what a dumb analogy lol.
You are implying rust is finished
I agree that the game has been "Alpha" for way too long. If the team is too small, here's a novel idea, HIRE MORE PEOPLE WITH ALL THAT MONEY YOU'VE BEEN GETTING FROM SALES.
I agree the durability is an idea that should have been put off and tested a lot more before being implemented.
How about fixing the "placeholder" animals before adding in a completely broken game dynamic that only makes it harder for new players AND not requiring a wipe for all servers because of said dynamic? Totally stupid.
There are tons of issues that could have been addressed before adding the retarded, and broken, durability aspect.
What ever happened to the patrol helicopter? It completely disappeared from the trello and I havent heard anything since a month ago about it...
Rust is still a good game with lots of potential, just not sure the potential is in the right hands...
You guys need to hire more people. Good people. You've got a great concept and it seems to have a solid following.

Wasn't the new sky developed by someone who was just hired? Sounds like a step in the right direction to me.
what a dumb analogy lol.

Its a great analogy. When you order a burger its not made yet. Early access you get to taste it while they are making it. In the case of Rust the burger is made and its awesome it just needs more toppings. Burgers > Chicken sandwiches
Most "finished" games I play only have a story mode that lasts 8-12 hours. I put almost 200 hours into Rust, so I would say I got my $20 worth.
Ya never go full retard...

Wow... Someone's butthurt for the $20 they spent on an in-development game. Someone's also psychic and sees in their crystal ball the development team sipping mojito's in tahiti laughing at all the blind internet sheeple who threw them all their hard earned money (or allowance, or life's savings, depending on how much of a child u are).
I'd be inclined to agree with you if this were a game like call of duty where there's nothing too ground breaking going on and there's a big team of people working on it for 4 years and they already had 10 years of code to build up on. But, yeah, total butt hurt
Hello, it's an alpha! :rock::dance::dance::quagmire::rock::eng101:

I completely aggred with you, i also stop play until a good update. And durability suck.! Worst change you can do is add durability. Thank you from all people that work and dont have time to' farm like school kids.

You're calling me a nazi while saying I'm not banning enough people?? Gee that's almost as silly as you making a useless post complaining about useless posts. But no I'm not gonna ban people for arguing with you, nor have I banned people only because they complained about a rust feature.

I was banned last week for complaining about durability.

No, you were banned for making yet ANOTHER thread about something that already had way too many of them.
I like what de devs are doing it's becoming a great game already. iff waiting to become beta turns in a better game. It's worth waiting fore it. or do you wan't a kind of battlefield game where dlc's rolling out when the game is lagging and still bugd.

Uh no, you were banned for not following the rules on searching before you post. We don't want 20 threads discussing the same topic, that's messy and silly.
And saying the game is alpha IS an argument lol. People need to understand it's silly to demand an alpha should run perfectly. It's fine and dandy to point out problems, it's not ok to get outraged over them existing in the first place. But anyways, I'm not seeing any spamming here so i really don't see the issue.

Uhhh reasons are always given, and like the rules sticky explains, you can access your event log with the calendar icon underneath your username on your posts. You got banned for an undescriptive thread title, and also because your thread was rude/shitty.

Where exactly are these posts that only say "it's alpha"? I'm really not seeing any in this thread. Everyone here seems to be arguing the point of the thread normally.
If you want someone to be banned, just use the report feature instead of derailing the thread over it.

is no one aware that they fully planned on Rust being in alpha until at least 2015? It's public knowledge. iirc they are shooting for a 2016 release. we have a long way to go folks and we were warned. so what's with all the bellyaching?

The entire basis of the OP'S argument is "It needs to be finished NOW and the developers are too bone idle". Its like buying a carpet, and then complaining that it doesn't fly. That's because its a carpet and not made to do that. That is the exact situation here.
Buys an alpha version of a game and complains at lack of added features. That's because its an alpha - where perfecting the engine - (Like seriously, a lot the things in Rust are obviously tests to see if it works right - see the differing armour with the different stats. Or getting chicken from a deer. It'sabout experimenting with what works and what doesn't.) is more important than adding generic survival feature to appease the 12 year olds.
Although the people saying "It's an alpha" probably don't think beyond "not dun yet", they are entirely right because you aren't thinking past "not dun yet" too when you read it.

another person who cant read OP knows its alpha and he not want it NOWNOWNOW to be finished
the prob is that its HALF YEAR OLD and the devs DONT even decided on the freaken team yet and bicous of this they dont have a single idea where the game is going.......
how do you build a game add stuff mechanics when you dont even know the theme/setting , Map or anything ? other then survival.....
