At least I can't just run towards the red dots on the map with my automatic weapon, holo sights, and c4.
North star, brutha.
Apparently compasses and cartography, things that have existed in one form or another for over 2000 years, would make things 'too easy mode'. Yet, I'm sure these folks don't mind their automatic weapons with holosights, and their C4 explosives. Derp.
Those are place holders. They won't be in the retail release.
Are you daft I said you could disable the map feature if you want to. That way the hardcore players could enjoy the simplicity of the game. Read all posts before replying. Smh.
Let me be more blunt with you since you're having a hard time understanding how not necessary this idea is. This idea is a complete waste of time, if there is already a landmark compass then what the hell is the point of a compass held in hand? I don't care if you can disable it, it is still not necessary and dumbs down the game for people who don't want to embrace one of the cool hardcore concepts of this game. Stop asking for training wheels then simply saying "WELL YOU CAN JUST TAKE EM OFF HURHUR." This is a big kids game and you should be able to ride a bicycle by now considering the age group this game is directed towards.

Its the fact that all the implementations people expect it to show you "you are here". Point me to a map I can make in the end of the world that tells me where I am. I don't disagree with a map in the game. BUT you're talking a map that has to be extremely simplified, yes cartography has been around a long time. Have you ever tried to draw a map to scale? How I think they should implement: Paper Can be drawn on with the mouse. Put paper in hotbar and pull it up to look at your drawings or add/change them. Draw your own map. Leave your own notes on paper.
I'm aware. I think you're missing my point.
You're making a point that is irrelevant because the foundation of your point is temporary and fleeting.
Actually I found a solution:
I guarantee when you learn the map and start getting more comfortable with your surroundings, your feelings will change somewhat. Learning the map takes time and effort and quite a few deaths.
im not sure if that fits this subject.
The spirit of the message fits perfectly. "Stop being a pussy. Screw your balls on and learn the damn game the way we want the game to be played."
