and welcome to garry's mod 2, people left playing architects, and trolls who want to kos. Wake me when we get to alpha.
... although kills mean absolutely nothing in Rust. Less than nothing since they are new spawns and have nothing.
... but just imagine the hoard of rocks and torches they will have accumulated! W00T! Makes me want to tool up, find the spawning point, and go hunting Griefers! Could be fun to give them a taste of their own medicine! lol

LOL! New mini-game "NOOB Defense".
Not a half bad idea there BlazR. At the end of the day if it becomes a configurable option whether or not to allow random spawn or beach (or other) location would cater to all tastes and opinions imo
Like I said before I do like the beach spawns but I also agree about the noob vs geared balance. I've always felt that bullets should be EXPENSIVE. The equivalent of 100-200 metal (not by metal cost alone, but also sulfur and other resources, etc). You should have to think about whether shooting somebody is really worth it.

I love the beach spawning. It makes the beginning much more chaotic and interesting. I haven't noticed that many campers either actually. Even if they do kill you as you spawn, so what? You didn't lose anything and you come back on another beach, it's not like all the spawn points are constantly locked down 24/7.

I also died all 4 of those times. I do like spawning on beaches still tho.

In a small testing environment there is nothing wrong with static spawning. It's on an established server with a high player count that you start seeing the camping. It's happened on every game I've played with that particular spawning system.
You clearly jump to irrational and uninformed conclusions.
I like the Beach spawn... Garry was right, this causes havoc at the beach. Helps you run into other players faster, makes you explore more because you wont want to settle near where you spawned, and makes you worry a little when you run around a mountain to find another beach. I like this. I like it a lot.

You do run into other players, grouped and geared, killing you for a cheap thrill, getting off on your discomfort. You also spawn in almost the exact same place, if not the EXACT place every time, making it easy for these lowbrow jerk offs to get thier jollies. It is flawed. Not by the reason behind it, but by 12 year old Internet troll mentality taking advantage of it.

I often see a group of nakeds beating on each other with rocks but I just run the other way. Head to the first forest and start building. You people having issues must not be any good :).
You think they didnt realize they were creating a more dangerous situation for fresh new spawns by having them spawn in one spot? If that wasn't their intentions then why did they do it? Because warm beaches make people feel good? Honestly i don't think its that big of a deal if they balance out resources. It won't be worth it for geared guys to spawn camp the noob area if every bullet they spend is worth a lot more. I'm not saying it won't happen i just dont think it will be as big of a deal. You have nothing to gain and everything to lose if you're a geared guy taking out fresh spawns.
The big problem with that is, if they take the resources from the beaches and nearby areas to make it harder for the campers, they make it almost impossible for new spawns who need to find food and resources to get that food very quickly. Spawning with only 50% health and near starvation to begin with is hard enough, having to run 100 miles to find ANY resources would kill the game instantly.

depends on the quality of the population though, and can be potentially gamebreaking for a newspawned player (and even more so for any newbies). i had a guy KOSing spawn on a server with 3 people including the admin, and have been on servers with far more that aren't full of pricks who spawn camp. personally, although i see the potential for abuse, i'm kind of liking the stable spawn area. but i don't agree there is no cause for concern.
Spawn in a radiation area with antirad pills equipped in your hotbar. Run like hell using the pills to keep the rads down. However, again, trolls will build around those areas and wait for new spawns to run out. I think random is the only way to go. Away from people and buildings.

Humorous, but sadly true. You know it will happen. I am skating around "Spawn Protection". I like the benefit of spawning in a known place so friends can find each other, but the con of having a bunch of drooling half-baked trolls just waiting for new spawns outweighs that benefit.
I actually enjoy the beach spawning, at least now I know where the trolls are going to be, and can hunt them easier, lol.
