Sniping practically ruined DayZ and it was nearly impossible to counter snipe someone in a ghillie suit that was hidden in a half-assed manner.
That would just piss people off and make frustrating for those who chose not to snipe. I agree with a powerful bolt action that has a longer range, but no scope made available for it. The proper amount of skill would be necessary for the power it has.

Yeah a sniper would be nice but its bad getting killed by 1 shoot.
With the view distance ive seen on streams, i dont belive there should be snipers at all, maybe add more melee weapons for epic melee battles? :D

Right, many people are probably forgetting the fact there is armour implemented in to the game thus will even out a one shot sniper rifle.
More stronger armour will be implemented and so unless your not wearing armour the sniper rifle won't be a one shot kill.

They should add like sniper rifles very rare like 1:500 chance of finding and not heavy damage take like 3 shots to kill someone would be cool
In my opinion snipers are fine as long as they are really hard to craft and take like let's say 5 hours of in-game crafting time to make one, or maybe that you would need a rare crafting material. I know they're not in yet but they could make it so you could receive a rare material from mining a rock and the chance would be like 0.01% or something crazy like that, that way you will really value your sniper.
Incorporating snipers would be a great idea if they were sufficiently "nerfed" to not be too overpowered, and too easy to use. Maybe adding a zeroing system, wind, bullet drop and other factors into the game would be a good idea to keep the snipers not too overpowered.

Why add them if they are going to less powerful and harder to use than a easier gun to make. Proof read what you think/type before you post it.

I wasn't being a asshole, I was giving a tip. If he did think about it then he would have realised his idea would have made snipers pointless to add in.

Well, If they are super hard to get/craft and 1 head shot= 1 kill and 2-3 in chest depending on armor. I 100% support it.

No I meant everything he said made that pointless to add in BUT if they were still really powerful then yes I totally agree with most of his post other than making the sniper weak. I mean if your going to make it realistic like that Sniper rifles are designed to be anti-personnel and others also anti-light vehicle. SO basically we can make it realistic but don't skimp out on some realistic aspects.

Realistically, I doubt there are gonna be many scoped that are not broken in this *wasteland*, more than likely (judging by the radiation) post nuclear apocalyptic, a nuke going off in the general area would shatter windows entirely including *SCOPES* therefor, No scoped snipers

Scopes are much stronger than regular glass because of the magnification it needs. Also don't change the text size because then your just asking for hate replies.
oh and while your at it you might as well add killstreaks 25 kills = nuke etc etc

That's assuming Rust is within the blast radius of a nuke. Which would be impossible as it would be the effective equivalent of strolling through Chernobyl [SUB][SUB](you would be dead)[/SUB][/SUB]. Rust is set in a fallout area, and last time I checked radiation doesn't shatter glass.
I hope sniper rifles (bolt action) get added In rust :)
They play a fundamental part in many games. They should be quiet difficult to make and 1 shot in the head equal kill...
It will change game dynamic's for the better IMO..

I totally agree that Rust should at least test having a bolt action longer range rifle, [B]without[/B] a scope. There's no harm in testing these things in Alpha at least, just throw them in once in a while like they did with the cars.
If the sniper rifles were to be made really rare, and ammunition hard to make, I support the idea. It should be so valuable that the shooter really have to think about wasting that shot.
However, I do think that the rifles should be bolt action and a bit slow.
a lee enfield or a hunting rifle of some sort would be cool :)

Agree. I dont feel that any type of sniper weapon should ever be implemented.

I dont mind having sniper rifles in the game as long as they do some serious balancing. Implement something to make quick scoping / shooting on the fly imposible. You have to either be crouched/laying down to be able to even shoot the thing. Maybe add some bullet drop, but leave wind variables out of it. It doesn't really matter how rare you make it because itll just take one for it to spread throughout the entire game pretty much bc research kits OP.
Obviously don't allow one hit kills. I think a fair number would be 3-4 shots chest and 2 shot headshot for anyone wearing kevlar. We won't really know if something is broken without trying it and as long as you put some heavy restrictions on what you can do while wielding the Sniper Rifle then anyone who can dodge well / get close without dieing could kill a sniper bc he would have to be a sitting duck.
Make the player have 50% speed whilst have the gun out, LONG times between shots, etc.
