The crafting, the survival and game play <3
I love your game :)
Sorry for my english xD I'm french :D
I love dayz i love minecraft and most of all i love garrys mod, so this game looks fucking awsome if you ask me.
I got to get me a key!
I'm interested in it because holy crap this forum is just an absolute slew of terrible posts and new guys asking for keys. I literally do not understand why people want to play it in it's current state - it's amazing to me.
The mechanics seem like a mash-up of other games, the cheaters are rampant, there are non-stop complaints about players who kill on sight, the servers are routinely wiped, there's a lot that isn't done, the gameplay seems repetitive, and more importantly the developers are too focused on developing the game than shaping the community. (Which is understandable, except I'm worried that by the time they get the game done the community is going to be horrible.)
The game is unfinished, the community is garbage, and it's just... It's like watching a bad movie that's so bad it's entertaining.
I haven't played Rust and don't really care to do so before it's finished.
They should just sell it as it is and then laugh all the way to the bank.
I love survival games, zombies, building, shooting,PvP,creating, teaming up with people and hatchets.
So I came here for hatchets.
For me;
Rust (in theory) = dayz+minecraft+garry's mod : my dream game.
It's because so many people want to play Rust of course lol.
I don't see why everyone's interested in this. Survival is an overdone genre, and none of the survival games I played were any fun. Rust is no exception.
300+ hours of infestation ss. 400+ hours of dayz. 250+ hours of minecraft / starmade. 100 hours of planet explorers. as u can see I like survivor and end of world style games plus building is awesome.
I seen a person on twitch tv playing and have been wanting a key ever since. Killing mass amounts of zombies with a bunch of friends and scaverging thro towns for the best gear is always heaps of fun and stock pilling everything in a base sounds like what dayz and warz are missing plus I have a lot of friends who still play warz and dayz who I want to turn to this :)
garry made a thread about a game
i wondered why
here i am
Because the game it´s awesome i just see videos on youtube and i love the game. Evry time i´m her ein this forum ithink i can get a key so i´m 24 hours tryng to find a key and i don´t so that makes more intrested
It is the culmination and seed for everything we want into a single game,
We want to work for it so it shows! we want to group up and kick ya ars!
We want to build our sexaaay playpens while nuking your shit from orbit!
We want to scream like little girls after offering daffodils as a peace offering to a black zombie.
We want , we want, we want
That or just because its Garry and he knows his shit.. helll yeaaaaah

It is because most famous Youtubers like Frankie play DayZ, and he is many peoples zombie idol. This then creates a fanboy community for Rust :/
DayZ with building your own base and crafting system? Works For Me.
I can't wait for a Rust key, but I just got a Bidroop beta key and here's some from me!

The game just seems different to any other I've played. Coming from my last main game (WarZ) where the developers only cared about one thing to here where the dev's are actively ingame and producing new content every day is what keeps me playing.
Two youtubers play it, ImmortalHD and UberHaxorNova, One of my favourite youtubers and it involves a Minecraft touch into it, building etc, and dayz surviving, which I like alot.
Reading this thread was like a mental chore. I heard about the game through Gmod and looked up some game play. I want to play this game for one simple reason. I have never played it, once I do, I will more than likely get bored and find another game being over-hyped in early development, just like every other person who posted in this thread. Still looking forward to trying it.
GTA V is better than Rust anyways.
Well im not willing to pay 50+ for Gta V ill wait till it goes down, Ill just play rust all day :v:
To raid people's stuff and make them rage quit.
I want to play Rust because I like the feeling of being stuck in a dangerous and unforgiving world where I could be killed in an instant. I want to go out and fight bandits with a sense vigilante justice. Or become one of them in a frustrated attempt to get back at the cruel world. Basically the same reasons people played DayZ.
The red text below that guy's name several posts above shows that this sub-forum is really supportive, caring, and non-scornful.. in an alternate universe. Wonderful, you read something like that. I find it hard to believe that people can just be complete asses to everyone wanting to play "Rust". Kinda hurts people's excitement over playing it when you say "FUCK OFF NO ONE WANTS YOU GO BURN IN HELL!"...
Edit: I was reading the original page.. Sorry to the guy several posts above on THIS page.

Why don't you just call his name out instead of making vague descriptions that could mean either people with red titles or people with BAN as their avatar because they're currently banned?
Also, you signed up in August. You missed the flood of hundreds of idiots who spammed the forum throughout pretty much all of July because Rust's alpha suddenly went viral among idiot kids who saw "Minecraft + DayZ made by Garry" (despite not a single bit of that being 100% accurate) and assumed it must be the greatest thing since broadband Internet access. Go back to page 4 or so and just start stepping back through the pages. Notice how many threads are locked, and notice how they have the same recurring 3 or 4 topics:
- how do I get a Rust key/can anyone give me a Rust key/when are more Rust keys going to be given out
- how do I get Gold Member status (in order to get a Rust key)
- when is Rust coming out/will Rust be on Steam
- I want to buy/sell/trade/scam/steal Rust keys
Almost all of these threads were created by people who registered at Facepunch for the sole purpose of getting into the Rust alpha so they could selfishly play it now, even though it is in a buggy, early state. They weren't interested in the rest of the Facepunch community, they weren't interested in fitting in, and they didn't care what kind of rules were here or how disruptive they were to the established community with their begging and spamming. Most didn't even realize that Facepunch is not the "Rust forums" but the official Gmod community forums + everything else Facepunch has since become.
You may find it hard to believe, but you haven't looked very hard. The evidence is right there. Also, here are all the non-permanent bans that've been handed out over the past week or so. Count how many were in threads from the Rust subforum. Look at the reasons. "Didn't read the sticky or anything at all really" comes up more than once.
Not all new users who post in the Rust subforum are idiots, but an overwhelming majority have proven themselves to be idiots.
I watch my brother play, I know this game is worth hundreds of hours of gameplay!

I apologize.

Hell, read this very thread: Compare the hype machine versus what Rust is actually like right now. I think it speaks for itself.
You get bonus points for listening and acknowledging. Some of the Rust idiots literally made new threads asking "where do I find the sticky everyone keeps telling people to read?" ... right below the sticky. It even had "THE STICKY" added to its title because nobody knows what a sticky post is anymore.
I'm not even concerned with playing Rust right now and I can wait until it's available to purchase. I have many games to play for now, but I do like watching streamers play it. I am just hoping that the streamer I watch everyday will eventually get a key.
I'm only interested in Rust to laugh at the many people that play the game after begging for a key for nearly days on end gets their hopes and dreams crushed due to the fact it's boring as hell.
I'm trying to figure out why a zillion people flooded to this forum as soon as Garry started handing out keys. So, why do you want to play Rust? How did you find out about it?
That's like asking every person in the world why do they like anything ._. ppl just like the game, nuff said. i dont ask my friends why they like facebook games ._.
I wonder how many people who joined between June-August 2013 have actually been to a forum before.
I was told about Rust by a friend in early June. I blew it off, "I don't care :P". Later that month, I had some problems with my Garry's Mod, so I made an account for Facepunch. After posting my bug (which has been fixed), I decided instead of going inactive forever to look around. I looked through the forum and read stickies about stuff. I saw the "Rust" section and my curiosity kicked in. "Why not?" I said.
There were chat threads, suggestion threads, hacker threads, etc. Of course there were shitloads of beggar threads, but I refuse to give them any more attention. After a few days of looking through Rust forums and the rest of FP, I saw that Garry has posted something. It is a contest: "Win a Rust key! -Draw us a picture!". I entered a few images, and received my key at the end of July.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
