The Alpha/Beta testers actually paid earlier, maybe more, than the other players, and in the case of kickstarters and Minecraft, their purchase helped fund the development.

Besides, the people who weren't testing and that shit got banned recently.

Even if a few of them did not file a bug report, they still might cause a bug that somebody else will report or something.
They might expose a glitch in combat, the base they left behind, etc.
