You cannot wipe or update easily with Multiplay. Wipes require a support ticket. Updates are done when they get around to it. Depending on when the update hits, I've seen the servers updated anywhere from 1 -12 hours after the fact.
this is not true can manual wipe you just have to know how to.....
DDos attacks are still very difficult (and expensive...) to deal with. Also worth mentioning; it was a ulink router exploit that was permitting the continued ddos attacks. Generally, adding real ddos protection to any server (web, game, whatever) is going to double your service costs... All ddos protection is going to be limited to specific methods anyhow. New, unknown or un-patched exploits are going to make ddos possible no matter what protection you have. New exploits used by ddos'ers wreak havoc on networks because it takes physical people analyzing the traffic to determine the source and specific exploit. Then it requires formulating a solution and then it takes implementing the solution without causing any further harm to the network. No easy task... No little black box that you can plug in and walaa, no ddos... It requires a team of seasoned pros. Some dude on his android in a coffee shop is not going to be able to handle it by running a couple scripts remotely...
Oh god don't go with Multiplay i was with them for 2 days bad ping's. Cant do jack shit with the server you pay cant install mods cant reinstall server with out doing a support ticket. don't rate them as a host [editline]7th January 2014[/editline]
Interesting, I'm looking into servers now. Can anyone confirm that you cannot update your own server with Multiplay?
You Cant update you server on Multiplay at all
this is not true can manual wipe you just have to know how to.....
From what I understand, Multiplay does not allow you to browse and edit the file system on the server, which is why they cannot wipe the maps themselves.
We have an HFB server and the lag/rubber banding is almost unplayable. We've dropped about 40 people from our daily playerbase because of it.
I co-admin a HFB server and for the most part we don't have any issues, well aside from the DDOS attacks and all.
Please ensure you double check the information you are posting is correct https://clanforge.multiplay.co.uk/news/article3978.html
That is what they're planning on adding. It is not possible to do a full wipe on a Multiplay server as of right now until they implement it. You can do a world wipe by deleting the .sav file, but all characters would still have their inventories and researched items.
Paid for a HFB server yesterday. More than 24 hours and still waiting to recieve an email saying "server is fully setup.." Not a good start
I went with HFB because they were cheap and offered a server in The Netherlands. Setup times was about 30 minutes. Before that I used the Ticket question for a question which got answered within the hour. I also have no lag. Guess I am lucky then :) I have no other hosting experience to compare it with.

I have a 100 slot from HFB and for the last two days its been laggier than hell; and for the last hour the server isn't even accessible... don't really know what to do as I've never had this problem from a server host before...
Multiplay give full acces ftp like HFB for mods etc ?
Multiplay give full acces ftp like HFB for mods etc ?
Nope. Multiplay gives no access to FTP whatsoever. I've tried both Multiplay and HFBServers and they both aren't very good, but at least Multiplay offers refunds. It took HFB about 12 hours to set up my server and after that I had to wait another day or two for them to fix it because nobody could connect. Now I'm just waiting for NFOServers to offer Rust servers.
Apparently our host has undergone a massive DDOS attack but our server has been wiped and is back online!
actually which hoster give full ftp access for modding etc ?
actually which hoster give full ftp access for modding etc ?
HFP allows FTP access, Multiplay does not. And actually, now that the maintenance is done on the HFB TCAdmin, you can install Rust++ and Oxide with a bunch of mods with one-click installs. I read somewhere on the forum that Multiplay added this functionality as well.
Link me a link to multiplay server site please and thank ye

HBF got nice FTP, but my main server under DDOS without any resolve from support. I am offered to move my server to Quebec which is far... or Dallas for additional fee...

The thing that really bothers me is that they NEVER actually ANSWER my questions in the tickets, but I get it, they have a lot of tickets to get through. :/
I spoke too soon. My HFB server is down. Multiplay is up, though. * - DISCLAIMER: This post represents my own experiences. I realize there are HFB fanboys who will be infuriated that I dared insult their favorite game host, but the fact remains that my HFB server has been unreachable for at least 12 cumulative hours since activation (NOT including the activation delay) while my Multiplay server has not.

The fact that they offer affordable servers beats out Multiplay in a nutshell in terms of price. DDoS protection may be favored with Multiplay, but honestly... even then it's not 110% secure, and the same goes for HFB. HFB also offers FULL FTP ACCESS and has a nice little button for installing mods, so mod support is enabled. Multiplay offers a damn ticket system which is annoying, since it's based on THEIR time, not yours... when you're the one paying for it. I'm sorry, Multiplay is a good provider as well, but their lack of support in terms of configuration and ability to manage your server is a huge red flag when it comes to server hosting. If I own a server, I want FULL FTP access and configuration ability. Not some half-assed ticket system regardless of if it takes 15 minutes or not. In those 15 minutes I could have my server set-up, managed, and ready to go. Game over.
Insulting the server provider doesn't do anything.
That fact that you consider this "insulting the provider" and not "posting my experiences" tells all.
If I own a server, I want FULL FTP access and configuration ability.
If I rent a server, I want it to be up. FTP access doesn't do me any good if the server is down, now does it?
While Multiplay do not currently provide FTP we will be adding the ability for one click installs for mods most likely by the end of the week. We have about 50 servers running Oxide at the moment for testing as we like to error on the side of caution and make sure everything is working before throwing it out into the wild. Hopefully folks will understand this and see the value.
