-7 Days to Die (Currently being funded through kickstarter)
-Minecraft (Like the engine or not, this game is a legend)
ATM, there are not many games that fulfill the gameplay style like Rust and the mentioned above does. So you should try what is out there at the moment.

ArmA 2 Wasteland is pretty cool, I remember once talking with my team and we all decided to build a base on a mountain. We actually made groups and we'd switch between guarding the base and collecting supplies. At the end we had one huge castle with tons of supplies, our base became the enemy's biggest target and they attacked. We fought very hard, but it wasn't enough. The enemy had collected rocket launcher and they were also deploying airstrikes. We lost our base

Idk. I put money on it and bought the Alpha. It's a real good attempt at the game, but it is quite buggy. They are switching engines soon, so the game should be much more playable! It really is a good game though.

Texture packs won't make a set of cubes look less blocky. Personally, I'd like Minecraft a lot more if it wasn't based around big-ass voxels.

Well, LEGO blocks come in more shapes and sizes than 2 by 2... Dynamic terrain can be done without relying on massive visible voxels if the devs would just aim for a game engine intended for medium-end gaming rigs. I'd play the shit out of a sandbox game with more advanced morph-able terrain and prefab-based construction and crafting. Think Rust engine with tunnels.
i recommend, the DayZ mod for Arma II; Its got the aspect of surviving, pvp, and sort of a sandbox game.
