Holy shmokes, this thread is scary! I'm not playing rust until release, I can't risk a VAC ban, I play too much global offensive.
Even if you went out and downloaded already-detected cheats for Rust and got yourself VAC-banned in the most obvious way, it would not prevent you from playing CS:GO. Now, it would hurt your reputation with other players when they see the Red Mark of Shame, but it would not stop you from joining VAC-secured CS:GO servers.
I like this post from the twitter just the other day :D "Over 1,000 cheaters will very soon realise that there's no such thing as VAC-proof cheat. :)"
Uhhh they don't need to buy the hacks when it's VAC that deals with them lol.
Yes they do, they need to know how the hacks interact with there game to implement extra security to make it harder for those cheats to work. He said it himself a few posts back.
There's only one thing I can think of that could have possibly triggered a false positive (it's a security measure we took to make hacks a lot, lot harder to make), but it was published in tonight's patch, and VAC bans usually take days to roll out...

I had to register just to quote this cause i am shocked. Let me get this straight, u guys (the devs) have made an enormous amount of money, yet u dont buy hacks from all the popular hack sites to check how they work and interact with your game ? And u hope and wait until somebody pm's u his details so u can check some forum threads in there ? Really ? U guys should of bought hacks from all the popular hacks sites just to make your game hack prove.
They don't need to buy the hacks when it's VAC that's charged with dealing with them. [editline]10th January 2014[/editline]
Holy shmokes, this thread is scary! I'm not playing rust until release, I can't risk a VAC ban, I play too much global offensive.
you guys have really gotta google how vac works some day. it doesn't affect all your games. A ban in rust would be a ban from rust.
Well since Twitter and Facebook are now completely flooded with people bitching about false positives, i doubt this is just cheaters trying to get a slap on the wrist, Christ you people are morons. Garry even "un vac banned" some famous youtuber today. Don't believe me? Check @playrust twitter.
I banned keemstar from my server the other night. he was hacking, go look at his steam profile he is still banned. get your facts straight before commenting about shit you know nothing about.
Yes they do, they need to know how the hacks interact with there game to implement extra security to make it harder for those cheats to work. He said it himself a few posts back.
That's not what he said, and you even quoted it. The security measure the devs have implemented may be triggering VAC. It's a measure that makes hacks in general harder to create. This isn't necessarily a specific defense against established hacks, and more fixes in how Rust handles things to protect itself from file tampering. I mean, maybe it causes core game files to appear modified to VAC -- which would do it. I say maybe, because none of this is confirmed.
No-one is going to get unbanned. I can only assume that you think we willy nilly overturn VAC bans, and that if you complain you will get unbanned. Lots of people have been tweeting us along similar lines. This is probably as a result of a thread on a AA. Claims of innocence would be a lot more believable if you didn't post your intention to claim innocence on a cheat site moments before.
