30 of my players/friends got vacbanned on a server with 60 on o-o
1k cheaters banned. the cheats producer told them to report it as false.
EXPECT 200 FALSE POSITIVE REPORTS.
DON'T UNBAN.
got a link?
Welp, I'm vac banned also. Hopefully this is just a goof up on FP's side and I hope somehow we get unbanned. Don't really feel happy about paying 20 dollars for a game and then getting denied access to the game because of this. Hope this gets fixed, or somethin.
Edit: Was playing earlier today before the ban, hour or two later I start the game up I get vac banned. Annoying. Any chance of this getting fixed?
Having something like VAC protection on an open alpha is kind of stupid in my opinion
Look at arma 3, they didn't reintroduce battleye until late beta about a month before release, because they knew too many people would get falsely banned
Antihack is something you implement AFTER the game doesn't constantly fuck up and throw errors
I'll wait for an official response from the DEV team.
I will say this though, that it is rather unfortunate that they require you to pay money to test the product for them, then have the audacity to insinuate you're lying about bugs/false positive issues.
Especially in a known buggy/glitchy environment like an alpha test.
You knew that you were buying an Alpha before you gave Steam your money.
You took the risk (just like me).
Rust is proving to be one of those great examples as to why you should not sell alpha software.
Sorry my english. This game just brought me bad luck. I had a empire with my friends and we were looted. I remained two months without playing, and just now got back yesterday I was banished. just wanted an explanation.
Hello and thank many of you for the answers. For those saying that i cheated and that i am just trying to get un-banned, I would like to stress the fact that i REALLY HATE, I mean absolutely HATE (with a passion), cheating. Every time i see someone hacking i report it to the admins on the server. Thanks to the rest of you saying it may be a false positive, it may be, i do run cpu programs in the background to help my fps.
I just want to say something here if it's true.
Devs, Have you been getting told that people are hacking?
Well you can't VAC ban a player unless they have a legit reason. Here is a fake reason. "hey *whichever developer* This player is hacking because he speed hack.". That really isn't a legitimate reason. He had to have a photo to have proof. A lot of people were VAC banned after the patch with the Revolver. Now I don't know if FP is pm'ing Steam to tell which ones are the hackers that admins said that they were hackers. Now if that is true, that is some BS right there. It isn't fair for people getting banned for a fake reason. Some people that used to play rust don't even want to play Rust anymore because they got banned. Now I feel like that right now. At least take off VAC ban because you have just banned at least 1/3 of the players.

I agree with this.. we all knew what we where buying.. but none of us would think we would get ban for a false positive on a game.. look at my steam account, I have had it for a very very long time and not 1 single vac ban until now..
Its whatever >.<
The SILLY part is, this is Alpha, they should be thanking everybody for finding bugs/glitches/exploits..not banning people. Never heard of people getting banned in any game during alpha.

you paid for a finished product with this early access as a free bonus. if dealing with glitches and such bothers you then just wait till the game is done and then start playing, problem solved.
anyways, if the vac bans are really mistakes they'll be undone once the devs finish looking into it, which is gonna take some time. in the mean time be patient and wait for the devs to sort it out.

Again, as long as those programs don't actually interfere with the game itself, you should be fine. What programs are they out of interest? If it's things that kill useless processes you should be fine, hardware monitors also don't trigger VAC, even the ones that provide overlays.
i do run cpu programs in the background to help my fps.
Bullshit.
Running more programs doesn't make your CPU run faster or help your FPS.

VAC is automated. Telling the developers has little to no impact on the effectiveness of VAC.

VAC bans are completely automated and are usually delayed by several days after detection. If there was a false positive wave, it's extremely likely it wasn't triggered by tonight's patch.
Yeah i get banned and i dont know why wtf . spent my money for nothing
I got vac banned for no apparent reason as well. Considering their policy is a big middle finger to cheaters, and that there is no way to prove I wasn't cheating, I figure it's $20 down the drain.
Fuck you developers, if you're going to ban someone and smear their steam account then you should be positive that they're cheating. Not very happy about this...banning customers who were playing completely legitimately with no cheats is thievery in my book. I paid for your product and you stole it back from me because your own shitty system falsely flagged me as a cheater. Bullshit.

You realize that VAC bans effect EVERY game on Steam, right? You realize that these folks are likely banned from a ton of other games now too, right?
This is a massive problem and FP should be pulled out of their beds and work immediately to get this fixed and not stop until it is fixed.
Fucking outrageous.
Jesus;43481583']Bullshit.

He might mean uh, "Razer Game Booster" which closes stuff. Kinda does increase fps.
It's a shame people are getting banned really.
got a link?
All I could fine were uh, posts on "hacking" forums saying ban waves inbound. Nothing about saying to report false bans.

There are a few things on there that offer marginal improvements by killing processes that aren't needed, changing the Windows theme to a lower impact one for the GPU, etc. They do near nothing on decent PCs. But a shit tier HP thing might get a boost from it. Don't call bullshit on things straight away without researching them.

I'm not complaining about paying for an alpha test. My issue is the fact that this game is an alpha and we came to them with problems about false positives and we were told that we were lying.
Tell me why a server admin would need to hack? You can spawn anything, enable god mode, teleport and pretty much do whatever you like. It's just silly.
Jesus;43481603']You realize that VAC bans effect EVERY game on Steam, right? You realize that these folks are likely banned from a ton of other games now too, right?
uhhhhhh what? No they don't lol. They ban you from the game you got the ban in. hence there's a counter for vac bans on the profiles of people that got banned...

VAC is a per game thing now I believe. People getting banned in CS: S can still play TF2 if I recall. It does not effect "EVERY game", only those that implement VAC. Jesus christ, will you actually research shit?

Those kinds of computers run by people who can't figure out how to kill processes deserve to be called out on it, one way or another. :)

I was banned off tf2/css and yet I can play rust
why? BECAUSE you're ONLY banned from the ones that you did things on!

Why on earth would you use VAC during Alpha when there will be a TON of bugs, glitches and exploits. Thank them for discovering them, patch them and keep coding. On release, enable VAC, but during alpha? Very silly, almost stupid... Yes, I'm a dev as well.
