uhhhhhh what? No they don't lol. They ban you from the game you got the ban in. hence there's a counter for vac bans on the profiles of people that got banned...
Years ago, an old account of mine was falsely VAC banned on one game and it locked me out of every single other game on Steam that required VAC server protection.
Why on earth would you use VAC during Alpha when there will be a TON of bugs, glitches and exploits. Thank them for discovering them, patch them and keep coding. On release, enable VAC, but during alpha? Very silly, almost stupid... Yes, I'm a dev as well.
what about people exploiting them in mass + using aimbots?
Jesus;43481641']Years ago, an old account of mine was falsely VAC banned on one game and it locked me out of every single other game on Steam that required VAC server protection.
I seriously doubt that probably shouldn't have cheated on all those games as well hmm?
Jesus;43481629']Those kinds of computers run by people who can't figure out how to kill processes deserve to be called out on it, one way or another. :)
What the fuck is this even supposed to mean? What are you "calling them out on" exactly? The fact they might know how to run a game but not manage their PC very well? Oh man that's such an affront to gaming!
I got vac banned for no apparent reason as well. Considering their policy is a big middle finger to cheaters, and that there is no way to prove I wasn't cheating, I figure it's $20 down the drain. Fuck you developers, if you're going to ban someone and smear their steam account then you should be positive that they're cheating. Not very happy about this...banning customers who were playing completely legitimately with no cheats is thievery in my book. I paid for your product and you stole it back from me because your own shitty system falsely flagged me as a cheater. Bullshit.
First off, it's not "our own shitty system", it's VAC, a time-tested method. Second, no need to insult us, it's not gonna make things any better. We are going to look into it, rest assured, if there was a wave of false positives it WILL be solved very soon, but in the meantime I do find it fishy that so many new accounts registered to talk about this. (this is something a hack author told his clients to do, a few weeks ago)

Well I think it is pretty obvious by now that there was a large false positive wave. Just wait till morning when the rest of the banned people figure it out and come crying.
if only you knew how bad the cheating was...
Oh I know, but this is ALPHA. Which is given to players to break, exploit, etc etc so the dev's know what to patch and fix, aside from obviously adding content, balancing etc.

VAC bans you for external cheats, trainers etc., stuff that modifies the game's code.

VAC is anti-cheat, not anti-everything-that-breaks, it checks for inconsistencies in the game memory, and certain files against a manifest (I think anyway, this is how the MW2 false positive occurred if I remember). The game going mad won't trigger it unless it looks like something outside the game caused it by interacting with the game.
... in theory.
Bugs, glitches, and exploits have nothing to do with VAC. VAC bans you for external cheats, trainers etc., stuff that modifies the game's code.

VAC bans are completely automated and are usually delayed by several days after detection. If there was a false positive wave, it's extremely likely it wasn't triggered by tonight's patch.
Well Steam should only do that in serious games. plus you have to buy hacks to be able to hack. One example is www.••••••••••••••••
I seriously doubt that probably shouldn't have cheated on all those games as well hmm?
I don't really mind that you're calling me a liar. I know that I'm not a cheater and have never cheated, whether you believe me or not. I hate cheaters. In fact, I fucking hate cheaters so much that my clan bought our own server so we could kick the cheaters we find because we were so sick of admins that are never on or admins that abuse their powers in the first place. It doesn't matter whether you believe it or not. If you want to be an argumentative asshole, that's fine. You're the one that has to wake up each morning and be that grumpy person, not me.
Teleporting wouldn't trigger a VAC ban, because you would have to have something modifying/hooking into your game's executable. Either this is a wave of false positives (which is possible), or it is because you guys are hackers.
because people can't very well test shit and discover problems for you if some chucklefucks are using hacks to kill them nonstop.
Great! Now the dev's know what needs to be addressed first..Seems like Alpha is working as intended. But to ban players over finding exploits in the dev's code??? ...In Alpha????? Be thankful they used it now and made people aware of it, otherwise on release the company would have paid the price.
Well Steam should only do that in serious games. plus you have to buy hacks to be able to hack. One example is www.••••••••••••••••
not necessarily, there's stuff like Cheat Engine for editing memory addresses, etc.
I'm sorry but if you're using a bug for your own gain and not reporting it you deserve to be banned doing that is just being a dick.
Who said people that used it didn't report it? Now your making assumptions.
Teleporting wouldn't trigger a VAC ban, because you would have to have something modifying/hooking into your game's executable. Either this is a wave of false positives (which is possible), or it is because you guys are hackers.
The server has a "truth" option that admins can enable/disable. For about a month, people have been getting immediately kicked after being teleported because this "truth" option is checking for suspicious activity in player actions and notices that they went from point A to point B faster than sprinting would allow. The server flags them for speed hacking and kicks them and reports to VAC that they're hacking. The server's suspicious activity check (this "truth" option) isn't smart enough to filter out admin-initiated teleports. It's flagging players who have been teleported, kicking them, and VAC banning them.
yes but like one other person said, some of these community servers you rubber band on hard and the only reason I am using this is b/c its the only thing that makes sense to me.. your running and lag is there from whatever the case might be and you shoot backwards,, I have been kick from a server from this.. saying Speedhackz with a z i believe... its the only thing I can think of that would cause my vac ban..
That shouldn't look like a hack to VAC honestly. Moving the player around the world server-side, and having it not match up properly client-side (causing rubber-banding) is a networking issue. Kinda strange if innocent people are being banned from something that occurs around this time mind.
Who said people that used it didn't report it? Now your making assumptions.
No one, but that's who vac is enabled for

Be thankful they used it now and made people aware of it, otherwise on release the company would have paid the price.
annnnnnd again, this is VAC, not the devs, and VAC operates by detecting alterations people have made to the game itself, not people finding exploits or something lol. they were told not to fuck with the code. if they didn't listen a vac is what results. but if there really is a fuck up here, it'll get sorted in time.
I'm pretty sure it's a wave of false positives, but i'm sure there are one or two hackers trying to get a unban by pretending they didn't hack, nonetheless this still bothers me.
There are no appeals to VAC, if there are false positives causing bans, then they will unban everyone who was falsely banned, and keep the others banned.
Jesus;43481696']It's an affront to PC owners and intelligent people, yes.
Man you really do have a superiority complex and a half don't you? Get off your high horse and stop being an ass. This isn't the first time you've acted like this on the forums.

VAC bans for EXTERNAL cheats.
i downloaded some hacks off the internet but they said undetected, so i dont see why i was banned
