I like the idea of per-server map generation with known seeds. That way, if you want, you can choose to play on a server with a popular seed OR you can choose to play on a new gen for that exploration feeling. Loving seeing what they are doing.
..Another issue is most server hosts wipe monthly. I don't think a month is sufficient time to learn a map from scratch...
I think the assumption here is as the game moves foward in development, the need for wipes will decrease dramatically.
Pretty interesting thread. Needs a bump!
I think the assumption here is as the game moves foward in development, the need for wipes will decrease dramatically.
One of the biggest problems with the current map is that because the proximity of everyone else that plays the server is artificially low the number of run-ins with other players is artificially high. Once a full sized map is in play the game will change a bit.
So will the full size map be in use soon? Or just the one road? Where this game is heading going to be very interesting and I cannot wait!
This is what Rust should be! - Having to explore unfamiliar surroundings - Not knowing which areas are safe/unsafe - Staking out an area and attempting to defend it - E X P L O R I N G Can't wait!
