• What should replace zombies?

I voted for mutants but don't believe my idea of reaver-esque HUMAN BERSERKER CANNIBALS really fall into that category totally or at all. I posted my idea and the quotes from the support it had, below which was from the Trello website. "You guys probably already have something in mind for NPCs and I can't read this entire board. My idea to replace the zombies was with human berserker cannibals SIMILAR to the Reavers in the movie Serenity and TV show Firefly. They could adorn themselves and their territory with the flesh, bones, and blood of those they murdered. It would create a nightmarish atmosphere in the forests they inhabited with corpses nailed to trees, human skin hanging from the trees and their dwellings, blood liberally painted on their possessions and themselves. They could travel the roads, fields, and forest in raiding parties ranging from 2-10. Your only hope for survival is to run. Hopefully you consider it. :) Oh, forgot to mention they rape the living and the dead. Have a nice day." nichdel said, "@MadOgre's idea for reaver-esque enemies is actually incredibly rad. However, if you're going with military (as the rumor is), the roving bands on the roads would still be pretty cool." TitaniumNutz said, "I like this idea a lot, bands of raging cannibals roaming around in packs, your only chance for survival is to flee, unless you have guns. Scary." "@tittysprinkles @madogre Nah. Madogres cannibals are legit, thought process would be a huge difference to zombies. Cannibals running in packs, with crude melee weapons, and crude ranged weapons would be awesome and more original than zombies in the present day." Would like to hear more ideas. Edit-Why couldn't there be more than one type of NPC?
I personnaly think the best answer is... All of them ! But Only one at the time. You could add an option for server owners : When they start their server, the map and the enemies (and the weapons / houses / ... ?) are different depending on the chosen option, but the gameplay stay the same. This way you could have a lot of differents games in one, and people will choose the environment they prefer.
That just gave me an idea: The list of spawning mob types expands based on playercount, highest tech tree progress on the server, and/or length of time since the last reset, depending on server settings. Basically, vanilla settings would start out with just the players and the direwolves/direbears we currently have, then when the default player/tech/time threshold is hit we see zombies, then the military shows up, then robots, then dinosaurs, then mythical creatures. As each server's world matures, the types of mobs become more powerful and fantastic. You could even allow the mob table to scale back when playercounts drop to make servers feel more reactive and living (e.g. server ABC usually has dinosaurs during the afternoon, but DEF has them 24/7 with occasional mythicals) instead of simply scaling with time (e.g. GHI resets every Tuesday), and servers could set their own minimum and maximum mob tiers (e.g. ABC is always between military and dinosaurs, DEF has it all). No idea how it would be implemented really. Also, all mob types behave according to factions.
Voted dinosaurs but I would love tribal ennemies
Jurassic Rust!
How about a Huge Mythical T-Rex getting killed by Militaristic Raptors
While mutants either human or animal or military might fit in with the current game better, I feel that Dinosaurs have the size and diversity to provide more thrill to the final product. Getting chased by a mutant bear or military squad because you just murdered someone might be scary, but getting chased by a T Rex or pack of Raptors is down right terrifying. Especially if pack based AI could be implemented into the Raptors. Additionally there is a story precedence of modern world dinosaurs mixed with radiation. For details see the TV show Primeval.

Lets help keep rust different than other games.
Check out my thoughts on this on a thread I put in it. I think it is a pretty good read, but would love some ideas/thoughts/discussion on it. It has everything to do with this thread. On second thought, should I just moved it over here? What yall think? http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1367528
Dinosaurs would work nice if wed get grass that you can not turn off and that grows above your head. Those Raptors in Jurasic Park were mean :) Also it would fit the radiation theme, in a lot of movies you have the radiation changed DNA of animals and now you have "Dinosaur like animals". I still voted for military as id love to see some high security military bases that you could raid.
I like the idea of dinosaurs because you can have such a huge variety of them. Some small, some big, some freaking huge, some passive, some aggressive, etc, etc. However the idea of ONLY having dinosaurs, not so much. I think there should be mutants, dinosaurs, military, AND aliens, as well as NPC civilians. I think the key to making this even more fun is to not take it so seriously. This doesn't have to be a serious military shooter. There can be fun shit that doesn't make any sense (like red animals that drop research kits). This is a game, it's supposed to be fun. It doesn't make any sense as it is, yet it's awesome already, so why does it suddenly have to be "believable?" Dinosaurs could be found all over, but different types in different environments. Mutants would be found only in highly radiated areas. Military only in and around military camps and civilians. Some civilians would be protected, others would be fending for themselves, and sometimes hostile sometimes extremely shy. Aliens would be a more rare encounter, almost like airdrops. A random saucer crash or a small group exploring and probing animals or civilians. I don't know why but I find it annoying that zombies (and now red animals, and potentially dinosaurs in the future) drop things like metal structures, blueprints, clothing, ammo, etc. I think with a huge variety of sources for loot, the loot could match its source much better. Dinosaurs could give unique and a (depending on size) large amount of crafting materials, military could give weapons, ammo, other kinds of supplies. The main idea is to break up the areas to give different loot to different people. This would force players to explore farther from their bases to find everything they want, and even get people to trade or go to war over resources. This idea would obviously apply to the kinds of areas you can find as well. Gasoline (when added) would spawn at gas stations more than other places, crude oil at oil wells that you can refine into gasoline, diesel, etc. Medical equipment more at pharmacies, weapons in police stations, higher tech stuff in factories and labs, etc. Every bit of land would have a unique combination of available loot. Other notable ideas I support: Cannibals, some sort of monsters (I guess it's "mythical," but some special monsters at night would be scary/awesome especially if they had unique loot), NPC bandits, mutant animals (and humans, maybe werewolf like creatures), tribes/groups of NPCs at varied tech levels, robots, more types of hostile animals (leopards to craft leopard print clothes?), flying animals and dinosaurs (eagles, crows, pterodactyls). Obviously making it so servers can turn off specific types of NPC would be a plus, as long as they can make their unique loot drop elsewhere.
I would like to see some sort of military types characters. Something that could shoot back and you can loot them once killed just like another player.
AimJunkies Rust Hacks 2014 AimJunkies Rust Hacks – A non-detectable set of customizable hacks for the game Rust! (If you have any concerns about detectability check the section about Vac and CheatPunch.) Get Here -----> https://sellfy.com/p/RY3L/ Example Images: http://oi61.tinypic.com/286sivl.jpg http://oi58.tinypic.com/10d73a9.jpg http://oi58.tinypic.com/21276ub.jpg Video Presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogp-5Y8Ei10 Features: -ESP ( Wall hacks ) This is done in several ways, you can have a red circle marking all people in your render distance or your can set a distance yourself. The second option is having the players be outlined in a white line in your render distance. The third option is to have the player’s names appear above their head in your render distance. Notes: It now works with crates and animals which can be enabled in the menu. - Night Vision Tired of the pitch black? Lighten up! With this amazing night vision you will able to see everything in the dead of night. Just press Control + N. Note: The sky will be slightly distorted because your video settings are being adjusted. - Game Time Clock For those who are bad at gauging time, a 24 hour dial clock was added. There will be a digital in game clock located at the lower right of your screen that can be enabled. The clock will tell you what time it is in the game. - Cross-hair Choose from over 22 different cross hairs, there is one for everyone. If there isn’t one you love then email us a picture and we will add it to the next update given we like it. - Aim Bot Set a pixel radius around the middle of your screen that will lock on to a player once they enter. The radius is adjustable to size and pull strength. You choose whether to lock on the player’s body or head. The reason why you would want it on body and not the head is because the shotguns are not precise. - NoClip Be able to fly through the world through player built walls, mountains, and the ground. You can also grab air drops before they even touch the ground. - God Mode Be able to disable all damage. After enabling godmode you will take no damage from the environment, players, or hunger/thirst. However, you can still type the suicide command in console if you wish. - Speed Adjustment Be able to adjust the speed your character walks and runs at. This will also work with noclipping speed. - VAC and CheatPunch Detection Checker Afraid of getting banned? Don’t be, there is no internal injection to the client so there is nothing VAC can capture. As an extra precaution we added a checker that verifies on startup that your current version hasn’t been detected yet. This checker is real-time and checks every time you launch Rust. Recently CheatPunch has been added to the anti-hack systems of Rust. Luckily our software is already capable of bypassing this. If our software is ever detectable the software will automatically disable itself before you join a server. This prevents you from being banned regardless if it is detectable or not. If our software does become detectable (which it never has) we will update it within a day. - Simple and Stylish Menu All the settings are changed through your menu that is accessed by pressing F1 to go into your inventory in game then by pressing control + B. - Updated Often You get updates for as long as we support this project ( a long time ) . Your client will notify you in time of an update and you will receive an email. =========================================================================== Change logs ========================================================================= - Modern warfare cross hair added ( request rugak4 ) - Added outline option for ESP - Clock ( request Th31ast0ne ) - Made menu a little less junky looking - Added all the cross hairs in black to options - Added modifiable Speed hack speed ( request nickybono ) =========================================================================== To do =========================================================================== -make colors of compass and clock customizable -make the clock look better -add names and distance to esp player boxes -make esp detect guns that players are holding -minimap -ingame map *working on this one next -add esp boxing customization colors ( request Damo Dam ) =========================================================================== Contact: If you have any questions feel free to email us at aimjunkiessoftware@gmail.com.
I don't understand why anyone is voting dinosaurs. This is literally the description of The Stomping Land: "A multiplayer survival game about dinosaurs." It's got cavemen, and dinosaurs. Play that when it comes out instead of trying to turn this game into Jurassic Park.
Would love to see dinosaurs, especially if there were military npc's who tamed a few. Or giants/mythical creatures.

DINOS!!!!!
.. More like giants, hydras.... I thought the same thing at first. "Mythical" makes me think of hippogriffs but I don't think that's what they're going for.

If you're going to start adding mythical beasts, then you might as well add things like magic and potions. I think if we cross the line into "things that aren't real" then it becomes a completely different game.
Well, as long as they're not mobile containers like they have been up until now, and actually gang up, agressively chase and catch up to the player, and are an actual danger, meaning they require as much effort to manage as actual players, go ahead and make them what you will. Dinosaurs would be dope, though.

Just because something is mythical (meaning it came from a myth) doesn't mean it's magical.

That would stop you. The devs draw their own lines... It's not like someone's pushing them. "oh well now you put in some beast that doesn't exist in real life. Now you MUST add a fireball spell." Because, you know... zombies are real and all.

Once you've crossed the line, where do the draw the next one?
There's a big difference between animals that don't exist, but theorthetically could have had events unfolded in such a way that said animals evolved instead of / in addition to real life animals, and abilities that can't exist in our world due to the structure of the universe and the creatures within it which attempt to manipulate it. i.e. a monopod could exist in real life if it had an evolutionary advantage over bipeds or due to genetic mutation, but no evolutionary branch or mutation of any sort could allow you to go "alakazam" and throw a fireball.
Ok I think I see your point now .. In that sense then I wouldn't totally disagree with mythical creatures as long as they're thought through and creative. I don't wanna see any dragons or griffons etc.
I come back on my decision : NOTHING of pve game exept new animals (because they are ressources...) -First we need a realistic game, we want to survive in world that could be our. -Remove zombie was logical, but you have removed the thing who permited us to loot object. Exept military, tribal , cavemen , madmen, kamikaz, infected animals or men(not mutants or zombie) , others can't fit in in a idea of Realism. In fact ,People are allready playing with all kind of role. In fact, Rust is definitly a PVP survivor/crafting game. SO what should replace Zombie? -More places to loot : town, ,military basement, isolated ruins etc -"Good" Loots are rare only very Rare object(we cannot craft them, or researching them, that too much magic ) - More Ressources in specific places(mine, forest etc) -And a lot basic object to craft, but remember we aren't MacGivers, we cannot craft M4 with 20 paperclip...

Dinosaurs are not realistic. They are not in the bible. They didn't exist. Don't do this. Thanks.
Mutated animals. Keep the weak ones we have now but add a couple tank level animals as well. Like a horse sized radiated chicken. Make it just as fast as a wolf is now but have it be able to deal 30% damage a hit and take 20 bolt action shots to put down. Additionally it can damage the walls of your house say 6 hits will knock down a wall. That way you have to go after it as a group or force it into a place where it can't get you and then shoot it.
