• What should replace zombies?

Why not just have a Bigfoot or a Yeti? Small + orange = fast running, deals less damage. Human height + brown = normal speed and damage. Tall + dark brown or grey = slower and more damage.
Garry. This. http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1356208
I would love this.
I just realized if tribals are added this game will be linked with Day One: Garry's incident. Add door to door salesmen to replace zombies, they haven't been done before.
I kind of like the idea of dinosaurs, in the sense of there being animals that aren't like bears and wolves. An armed military might make it really difficult for newer players to get around, lol. I wouldn't like the typical T-rex/raptor dinosaurs, though. Make up your own dinosaur-like creatures if you go with this option!
The ONLY way they're going to keep everyone happy is to not directly replace them with anything. I'm sorry, I know it's boring but It's the truth. The thousands of people that play rust, play it because they love it how it is and want to see it expand on those original ideas. As long as it stays on that course you will keep those players and gain many more. No one bought rust because they thought it was a zombie/mutant/alien/mythical/dinosaur/etc FPS game. If you did .. You're an idiot. No one is going to be upset if you keep it how it is. However, If it becomes directly focused on any one of those specific types of enemy, then rust will loose many many players .. Me included. I bought rust specificly because it is NOT a zombie/mutant/alien/mythical/etc. FPS game. There's already a million of those games around. Rust as it is is pretty unique, and there's very little you can practically compare it with .. Pleeeeeeeease don't ruin that!! If this poll says one thing .. It's that people will be unhappy whatever option you do .. So don't do anything! Instead of directly replacing the zombies. Leave it as it is .. Where your biggest enemy (as Garry once said), is other players. No enemy NPC can replace a real player. So focus on giving people a better reason to fight ... ... Add more REAL animals that drop more specific resources (meat, fish, fur, leather, horn, venom, bone, feather) and live in more specific areas (water, marshland, mountain, cold areas, hot areas, Forrest), and do the same for resources. Certain trees grow in certain areas and grow certain food and different qualities of wood. Same with rocks, some grow in caves underground or around mountains (but not exist in large numbers in woods or marshland) and do the same for many many other resources. Give people the ability to grow their own crops, obviously on fertile land and not on Rocky Mountains. This gives people a reason to want a specific plot of land and a reason to defend it. And gives others a reason to trespass and fight for it. It also gives people valuable items worth trading for. This way the number one enemy remains as other players and everyone remains happy. If it ain't broke ... Don't fix it. :)
I would love this.
Awesome.
I know it makes no sense at all but i want killer clowns
I'd like to see all of the above in different areas of the game, but realistically whichever top two-three wins. Offtopic: Also carts and/or trucks.
I'll vote Dinosaurs, just because I don't want military to win. There are too many military games out there, it's getting old.
Vote for Mutant Humans or Animals! Dinosaurs make no sense in Rust! Because Dinosaurs carry Leather Armor and Granola Bars
Vote for Mutant Humans or Animals! Dinosaurs make no sense in Rust! Because Dinosaurs carry Leather Armor and Granola Bars
Dinosaurs make a LOT more sense than Mutant humans or animals! Lol :p
I vote robots, they could carry blueprints, they could keep the military zones and endure the rads, thaht make sense, and above all, they won't detroy the actual gameplay like a giant or a velociraptor would. Please think about the consequecense on our game before you vote guys !
Military A.I with guns, find a plot and work it. Dinosaurs is silly, this isn't Battlefield 4 lol Giants would be nice though :)
Dinosaurs in a world full of naked caveman? Hell the-fuck yeah!
dinos and military would be great
This thread is going to kill me.
Yeah !!!!!! Want BIG dinosaaurs !!!!!!!!!
Tbh, I don't see why some of the options have to be mutually exclusive here. Dinos would be interesting, but wouldn't really fly unless they go full Turok with this game. (a direction that I'm not entirely opposed to) Personally, I feel they should go the direction of the Fallout games. Have a good diverse monster pool that is inundated by the various regions. One great possibility I would like to see is mutants and mutant animals like the deathclaw previously mentioned.
I think that a lot of people are basing their response off the fact that there are rad zones in the game ... Radiation generally means nuclear weapons, military. And tend to result in zombies and mutations. Who's to say that rad zone will even be in the future maps? The current map is a test map. Zombies were a test. What's to say the whole radiation thing wasn't a test too? For all we know the final maps might be a completely blank canvas. Different regions, wildlife, climates etc. If that's the case then military, zombies, mutants etc. won't fit in.
WTF? Dinosaurs?! This is an apocalyptic survival game :(
WTF? Dinosaurs?! This is an apocalyptic survival game :(
...with raptors!
I think Dinosaurs and Robot(Robot with a human suit on and put on gas mask and stuff) I think it make sense,Like.. the dinosaurs come back from the future and military was sent before so there will be a abandon camp that have loot or something,Ok back on the story Military was sent and all was killed government see that human is reducing and couldnt handle dinosaurs so they send a robot. Sometimes you can see a military of robots is fighting with dinosaurs
I selected military because my idea wasn't represented. I am not a huge fan of zombies, but I wouldn't mind them being added back. However, I'd suggest a third party npc human faction. Whether they be military, natives, rebels, bandits, militia, is of no consequence. I have always liked the idea of "factions", though. Several different npc "factions" where which factions would be "friendly" to your presence or "hostile" are dependant on your previous actions toward said factions. There would also be certain instances where having "good faction" toward a particular would automatically affect your "faction" status (good or bad) with other factions. I think this would add to the game play in that you would not only have other players to watch out for, but give KOS players something to "fear" also depending on what faction "territory" they are currently in.
Imwas expecting rust to be an apocalyptic survival game :c but there are many in military and dinosaurs. Really? Least expected and i thought the mutants would win..
I voted mutants because it fits with the radiation theme. And after thinking about it for a day now I believe everyone is right. Rust doesn't have to be a one trick pony. The Rad Sites could all have a different type of monster spawn there to set them apart from one another. Mutants at the big dirty heavy rad site, alien looking creatures at split town, robots at big civ, and dinosaur clone creations at desert civ. I don't know, just a thought. edit: I'm starting to think this isn't an apocalypse, more of a island test site disaster. Air drops are coming from the outside world.
Imwas expecting rust to be an apocalyptic survival game :c but there are many in military and dinosaurs. Really? Cos I got rust on steam and that's far from the impression I got from the trailer, pictures and description.
Not a fan of the whole "mutants" thing. Even zombies is stretching......
Mutants !!
