Whatever the devs choose should, above all, be something that adds enjoyment to the game. The majority of people seemed to like the zombies and hardly anyone can stand these annoying mutated animals.
I don't understand why they removed something that was balanced and enjoyable with something they knew nearly everyone will hate. I know the creators didn't want this to be a zombie survival game but come on, wtf are you doing replacing them with this bullshit? You should have waited to replace them until you came up with something the community wanted.
Zombies were a good placeholder while you developed something better. Removing them and putting in mutated wolves and bears that drop high tier items is just stupid.

I'd gladly take this or even the killer clown suggestion over dinos.
... On second thought maybe not the clowns... but still. :zoid:

If they add dinosaurs to Rust, this is what is going to happen
oh FFS people you would ONLY choose something bicous its fits the map ?
its like 90% of the people here dont know that the current Setting doesent matter
THE WHOLE MAP WILL BE DELETED
ITS A TEST MAP
Its just happens it has a radiation etc it wont be expanded
there will be a 100% different map with totaly different stuff depending what enemies we get implemented
Story lore etcetc DOES NOT EXISTS on the map we play the devs just testing stuff on it
almost everything you see doesen't matter its just happens that the test map is in a postapocalypting setting.
So stopp this bullshiting abbout BLABLA BLA this and this does not fit the game.....
The Setting is not decided yet....
Military is a pretty cool idea!
But Aliens may be a nice variant too, it's like this apocalypse was made by them, they killed the entire population and now they send troops to clear those who survived(players)!
This is a survival game not a game jurrasic park !
Military or mutant respect the style of post apocalyptic game as fallout !
If he put dinosaurs as weapons of the Stone Age -_-
In the next update we add king kong on our tour with dinosaurs on the foundation?
Mutant animals mainly. Wildlife is a big part of the game.
and secondary we can have more things: sometimes you can encounter a soldier or very rarely something a bit more mythical/surreal maybe.
But I'm not a fan of dinosaurs, seems out of place like stated before.

WHY would it be out of place ?
there is no setting yet.....
I think military would be the best choice, specially considering they are adding an AI controlled chopper. Maybe have patrols.
Say rust island was just some bad military project going on that went wrong. To keep the word from getting out they send in the military to cleanup.
With no escape from the island and low supplies, we start turning on each other while having to survive the onslaught of our own military trying to wipe us off the face of the earth.
I take back what i said earlier about leaning towards Dinosaurs, thinking about it more i'm not sure what enemies i do want but i do know that if mutant humans get added they WILL have to be different to how the zombies were otherwise there was no point to removing the zombies
maybe just heavily mutated animals plus the island in general being more dangerous
Stomping lands is going to have dinos... so sounds like a bad way to go.. Since u removed zombies because of other games.
Robots sound good because they could be on battery power and such after the big whatever happened...
Crazy wildlife also is good... Hippos Crocs Tigers Bears Wolves etc etc
Tribesmen is also somewhat ok
my 1 cent

Tu es pour les dinosaures ?
Think about it, You see this guy in full Kevlar go looting, Now: You think he is all bad-ass With Dinos: You think he is screwed.

Here's the thing. As a dinosaur fanatic I feel they are rediculously under-utilized in video games. This particular game could work them in as enemies fairly easily. They don't even have to be real dinosaurs, though I must add that the raptor family of dinosaurs had very few man-sized members. Most of them were chicken-sized to small dog sized. You also completely ignored the flying reptiles and herbivores, both of which would add new dynamics to the game.
How did they get there?
Good question. Well, if there is radiation, then they could have evolved to fill the niche that humanity left behind when the world apparently collapsed. Huge dinosaurs were only a part of reptile evolution, there were many more smaller versions. If we were wiped out far enough and the reptiles were able to reproduce near radiation zones, then it's plausible that similar creatures to dinosaurs could evolve as long as resources were available... which they obviously are if the world can support bears and wolf packs. It's just a suggestion to keep it away from the Jurassic Park-esq idea of DNA cloning.
Also, if the map expands enough, then there could be multiple dominant enemies. Reptiles have a very finite temperature range. Mammals can take over in chilly temperate to very cold climates. This way there is a realistic balance to the game and its not just the same enemy, different day. In the far far future this variation could open up the world of armor customization based on composition(reptile hide as opposed to fur or cloth) that could serve as clan recognition.
EDIT: Since I was born in the generation of JP and scaly dinosaurs, I had a slow moment and forgot to mention this really important thing: a good number of them actually had feathers, so the dinosaurs in the game could have feathers too and that would make them unique from other dinos in other games.
I like the idea of robots it would open up many possibilities of progression through the game from caveman to futuristic. (not laser guns and stuff (or maybe) )
With all the space on Rust Island I could see parts of it having many different and various enemies. I'm sure there could be lore created around dinosaurs living on one part of the map, yeti's in the mountains, mutants in the cities, and military groups occupying the roads or something to that effect. Point is, there's A LOT of room!
Dinosaurs???WTF?PEOPLE IDIOTS?
I'm going to play it anyway, no matter what enemies I have to fight.
Why should there be Dinosaurs??? We have streets, buildings and modern weapons... there can't be Dinosaurs.
btw: i can't belive somebody is creating such a good game and has no ready concept and no background story at this point of development... thats like starting to produce a movie without having a script...

I've said this like 10 times now throughout this topic. There's no point battling each other over what works and what doesn't. The dinosaur people are focusing on the "caveman" like aspects of the game and in their eyes the mutants don't fit. The mutant people are focusing on the "post apocalyptic" aspects of the game and in their eyes the dinosaurs don't fit.
These are two VERY different themes that currently work together in game but the ideas that are associated with them don't work together.
At the moment we have no idea where the game is going. No one has officially given us a theme apart from "survival game" which can be viewed like wilderness Bear Grills survival or Post Apocalypse survival. They're very different and until we officially have a theme with a bit more detain about future plans from the devs then no one answer is better than another's.
Everyone currently has their own vision of the games future and that is where opinions are different wildly. If we're officially told is going to be a post apocalyptic game .. Then yeah dinosaurs look pretty stupid. If we're officially told it's going to be a realistic caveman new beginning kind of game then yeah mutants look pretty stupid.
It's impossible to make any agreeable discussion without knowing more about future plans from the devs.
If you don't think dinosaurs are the best option then you are objectively wrong.
Military is the best i think. So you can strack them. with your Friends and geht a Good Way to kill them. The Story is the Same and they drop their camouflage clothing and weapons. So i vote Military.
Here you go! My suggestion made some weeks ago...

Yep. That's a really cool idea ;D
I like the prehistoric man vibe you get from the start.
Maybe Velociraptors however please fix the freezing before you add those too many time I've been being chased by a wolf and my game froze causing me to loose all my gear.
Seriously Dinosaurs is dead, there are millions years. I don't understand your choice. Mutant is more role play, because it's a irradied zone, it's not jurrassic park.
If you are irradied, you don't transform in T-Rex, but maybe have three or four arm.
Military Maybe not, but attack military with a rock or hatchet is difficult while he have Military Weapons.
Sorry for my English, i speak little this language.
Can't believe military is winning :(
How fucking boring.
For those of you who want military, forget about it. Respect the games creator.
In fact forget the whole poll. I don't care what people what the most. This game has sold over a million copies for a reason. Let Garry and his team continue to make the decisions. I am confident that they will make the right one, if they ignore their gut and go with the public decision on things like this .. They risk ruining it.
