Dinosaur Signals from air drops. Pop that green smoke and let the raptors do the dirty work.

wat
Tribes of slightly mutated nocturnal human pygmies that can be allied with/fought against depending on the actions you take or alliances you make. Their tribe names would be after island fauna like Wolf Tribe, Bear Tribe, Rabbit Tribe, Chicken Tribe, etc. . .
I honestly honestly think that NONE of them fit in the current game. The future official maps will have to be VERY different to make any one of these work.
Zombies - Definite no, they're gone, get over it. There are plenty of zombie games out there.
Robots/Aliens - Just no. I'd give you a reason why they don't fit but there's no point. It's obvious by the poll that if they're added the game will die.
Military - No. Again plenty of games out there, Garry has already said he doesn't want them. Why would any country be funding their millitary to camp on an a island populated by naked men just to shoot them? Doesn't fit.
Giants/Mythical Creatures - "Could" work. But I'd personally rather it didn't. Especially if by "mythical" you're thinking giants, dragons, cyclops, fairies, elves, goblins etc. They don't currently fit in a fairly realistic world. And if you bring them in then what's to stop magic? Before you know it we're playing LOTR Online.
Tribes (even though it isn't listed as that) - Probably the best fit. But it's then bordering on "The Forrest" and it looks like that could come out on top.
Dinosaurs - Yeah okay they kinda work with the "caveman" aspects. But not with the buildings, airdrops and modern items. Also bare in mind that the big ones would be impossible to kill and be more annoying than C4 to your house and you'd be no match for the small ones. Basically if you see one .. You're dead. So they become a bigger threat than other players thus practically making it a PvE game. Then if u made ones that were a better match for players the you're bordering on the lines of "mythical creature" or "mutant animal".
Mutants - Again yeah they kinda work with the radiated areas but that's it. It seems a little unbelievable that a nuclear apocalypse has struck in some small built up areas but left the land between them and the other 99% of the map lush and fresh and green. Why would they respawn? Why not just kill them and be done with it. For this to work and be believable then a HUGE area of the map needs to have been affected. Kinda like fallout. And even then if you were stuck in that situation why would u be bashing rocks and making tools?
In this current map, no matter how much you argue, NOTHING really fits.
I personally don't want another apocalypse game. We have enough of them. I would rather the final map be a completely blank canvas with different regions, resources, climates and wildlife. Sea, marshland, lush thick green forest, rocky mountain, snowy highlands, lakes, rivers, deserts. Everything!
Give us a blank canvas and let us fill it! You wanna build a town? Build it! Wanna start a military? Do it! What military could be better than a real player one? If we had a blank canvas there is literally no limit to what we can do with it! If we let any one of these "zombie replacements" take over then the game becomes focused on that and we become very limited on what we can do with it.
I hope that Harry will read my post. In my opinion better add mutants/aliens.
Dinosaurs, obv
Godzilla.. for the whole map. DONE
It was a joke. :P
Add Zombies and Military, dinosaurs do not have to
Would be funny to see a new player getting chased by a velociraptor
Mutant humanoids and a mix of normal and mutant animals depending on the area, could have some giant mutated animals (messed up looking aggressive elephant/mammoth thing?) to appease the ones wanting to fight dinosaurs and/or raid bosses.
I would love to see a horribly deformed, and incredibly strong mutant roam the wastelands of Rust. I mean, a mutant that would scare the SHIT out of you and give you nightmares. One that makes eerie sounds and whatnot. It would force players, both new and veteran, to team up in order to kill off the beast.
Mutated reptile!

or try this for a mutated bird

Or a twist on traditional dinosaurs.

Even if you don't like the idea of a prehistoric game what I'm trying to say and people keep missing is that just because it evolved once doesn't mean it can't evolve a second time. You seriously think that birds and bats evolved from the same creature because they have wings? Broaden your minds people!
Well, we know they're not going to add military, so hopefully whatever the devs vision is, is terrifying and fiendishly difficult without a good amount of teamwork or gear. Otherwise, this will continue to not be a survival game.
Gabe Newell should replace zombies.
Dinosaurs?! Are we all 10 here or what? ><

Very Good points here. I'd say Human AI such as Tribes may work alongside this
[editline]24th February 2014[/editline]
I'd say many people are voting military for two reasons:
It's the only thing that represents Human AI and it's the only option with a hope of beating dinosaurs.
So yeah, a lot of the military votes are just "voting for the lesser evil", which shows flaws in the poll options and the idea of a poll itself.
Very Good points here. I'd say Human AI such as Tribes may work alongside this
Yeah but like I said, then it's getting very close to "The Forest" which, although it hasn't been released yet, it looks further ahead, and slightly better in that theme.
Whatever does "replace" the zombies. They can't be such a threat that they replace other humans as the biggest threat and rust becomes a PvE game .. At least, I really don't want it to anyway.
All of the ideas are cliche to me, I think we're all mutant-naked and crazed tribesman anyways, and the gangs that roll around feel like military to me anyways.
Either Way Having Dino's Roaming or Military shooting back at you sounds good to me :)
Also, the tribals must sing David Hasselhoff's "Hooked on a Feeling" every night at dusk.
Rust doesn't need another NPC. Scrap the red bears and wolves and add more loot boxes in their place.
Any other NPCs should be animal-related.
Instead, Rust should have weather, natural disasters, (non)-communicable diseases, mental health/necessity of human interaction, necessity of sleep, physical deterioration, dehydration... there's so much more that can be mentioned. Rust should remain a true survival game.

Exactly what I've been trying to say :)

Then game gonna become boring soon.
Rust has already established a theme, both in name and atmosphere. That theme is that of a post apocalyptic wasteland. STALKER or Fallout come to mind. People are voting Dinosaurs because "lol dinosaurs". It's the dumbest option, so it will get the most votes. Hell even steampunk or robots or Borderlands style hillbilly bandits would make more sense than fucking dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs would be nice, but they are something that must be implemented from the ground up. Thematically they are not something you can just toss in mid development. You have already established a theme, and it's one that hasn't been broken into fully. Sandbox STALKER multiplayer? Fuck yes.
Mutants, military, bandits, that's where the theme lies, and that's what you should do. Something like Snorks or Bloodsuckers from STALKER. They aren't zombies, they're interesting, and they fit a hell of a lot better than dinosaurs.
While you're at it bring anomalies into the game.
So stalker? haha
[editline]24th February 2014[/editline]
Still with the military BS
READ MY LIPS
FUCK NO
IF you want some military bullshit fucked up vehicle tank guns rocket launcher post apocalyptic game.
GO FUCKING PLAY DAYZ
Rust is more than the perfect game to turn into a complete survival simulation game.
The map, atmosphere and even weapons/structures are almost there. Just get rid of all the new high tech BS and throw us back to the stoneage
And dinosaurs dont have to be huge!
There are plenty of man sized, slightly larger than man sized, and kid sized dinos.
Right now the only element of fear is other players, and animals are just annoying, they dont make you feel worried about running through an area, you easily outrun them.
you guys could have something totally new and different! I dont think people realize how awesome it would be to have a full fledged fricken million years ago survival game. ITS NEVER BEEN DONE
Stop with the dinos
go play orion dino horde
Forget mutation and mutants. Why not just replace them with dangerous animals?
Ex.
In the jungle you can have leopards, tigers, snakes.
In the deserts you can have elephants, lions.
But will these animals be challenging?
Dont people need some serious overpowered enemies they have
to resist together preventing themselves from mindless killing for
neighbour's loot?

Because it's totally legit to get ammo or blueprints from animals
