Replace zombies with these, especially the guy on the left , populate the rad zones with these guys but I would also like to see them roaming in the world like the walking dead so danger is always around. giant npc's (not dinosaurs) which require alot of people to kill
Sth between robot/human with red eyes and fire weapon =O Making strange scary noises, being super dangerous and terminator-like, hell yeah >D!
Maybe give us some spooky rare occouring creature like mothman, big foot or something like this :v:
Mutant humans. Resident evil style (the special monsters if that makes sense) rather than plain zombies. (Edit) Only just saw the results as I didnt want to be influenced. please not dinosaurs as the is another game in development called thestompingland.com which is survival+Dinosaurs.
O.o Dinosaurs this should be fun
Add Npc bandits, Adjust the radiated areas, make them into Bandit settlements..
Steam powered and clock-work robots.
Im giving another vote to tribal natives! And to add to the suggestion, I say get rid of rads also. Instead, maybe put some airborn condition near where the tribal people are. Maybe some type of smoke that the tribes burn at their bases (which would replace abandoned military bases), or maybe there is a disease that the tribe is immune to but you cant stay exposed to the infected tribesman for an extended period of time? Just spitballing, but I think that if facepunch really wants to separate the game from day z (which I totally support!), the rads might need to go.
Dinosaurs FTW
LOL it's not f***n jurassic park. The Zombies was good i have no idea why they deleted them....
Ok, so Gary has Spoken
Yeah this goes without saying. We're not letting the community dictate what we do. We're feeling them out about stuff. The actual reason for that poll wasn't for them to decide whether military or dinosaurs should get added. It was to feel people out about something else on the list.
This is from this Thread. So we now know Military and Dino's are not going to be ingame, or at the least not Garys 1st choice. So from the list there is Mutant Humans and Animals, Aliens, and Mythical Creatures/Giant. Which of those should it be? I pick mutants, animals and humans. Now we can drop the whole Dino/Military argument. It is a mute point.
Dinosaurs are giant mythical creatures. However, if he wanted the community to have a feel on something else, it's a failure. People want dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs are giant mythical creatures.
Wut ?

None of these options will be implemented regardless of if they win. We could still see dinos, we could even see military. It's just to feel out the community and clearly this thread has told him we want vicious, tough npcs to actually survive against. Nowhere did Garry say military or dinos werent a possibility, in fact, it seems if the community really wanted them down the line, we could get them if enough suggestions came through. Way to fail at reading.
Dinosaurs would be fucking awesome. Lets turn Rust into Juarrasic Park!
Garry... until we know where you want to go with the game, choosing an enemy is kind of just fluff. The real question is: how much AI do you want and/or feel confident programming into these zombie-replacements? Having dinosaurs would be an easy implementation... they'd have the same "attack/retreat" AI of existing animals. But putting in dinosaurs or mythical creatures would cement Rust as a "playground" sandbox game. Having military, or roving bands of NPC savages, or small communities of NPC survivors defending small pre-built but somewhat randomly spawned villages.... would all require intelligence and tactics, as well as the ability to use firearms or distance weapons. You tell us... do you see that happening?
Aliens. Then you could have the occasional UFO fly over and night with the lights glaring down upon your base. People could get abducted and stuff. Would be super scary!
I didn't see subhumans in the list of choices, especially the ones from H.G. Wells The Time Machine. Plaque has swept the Earth, and in humankind's weakness the subhumans from below are making a bid for dominance. They come out in dusk to night and have limited distance vision but are attracted to light and noise. People gather resources in the day but at night must use extreme light and noise discipline and stay quiet in their shacks to survive. Having a fire by an outside wall could attract them or mining woodpiles and rocks. Some devious intruder sneaks past the creatures in the night to perhaps throw a grenade or flare at an enemy camp to draw the wrath of the hordes to it, perhaps to loot the aftermath or for revenge. The are trying to usurp humans so they are also collecting blueprints and other items so would have a reason to have loot on them. Nakeds would try to gather at dusk or dawn when the creatures are few before night and can hide from the KOSers in the day. Have to change sounds so only running would have footsteps so a person could walk by them at night stealthily. Instead of airdrops, they are automated drops from space processing facility that is still in orbit, no aircraft just a meteor trail then the pop of a parachute.
Why dinos... I don't understand people.
I don't have the time to read the rest of the thread so just ignore this post if it's already been said. I don't know about day time. Mythical creatures would be great. I don't mind. But at night, hopefully, you could add some shadowy creatures a bit like in don't starve where you go insane and shit fucking kills you if your light goes out in the middle of the forest. Yes please.
I personally would like to see zombies replaced with military. Its bad enough that any of the aggressive animals are pretty easy to kill. With military it would link with the airdrops and actually make it somewhat harder to get started. Plus they could add npc's that can be non-aggressive and aggressive depending on the exposure of radiation.
More radiation and more mutants sounds the most interesting without getting wildley fantastical. Could be quite engaing to have radiation as an actual threat in the game - instead of just some numbers in the corner of the screen you have to watch. Very few games seem to do radiation justice, despite it having such horrific potential. Aside from mutant animals, insects, humans (plants?) - with endless variety (giant mutant hawks taking on the attack helicopters anyone?) - we could have actual fallout that spreads across the map with the wind - radiation sickness that leaves you with blurry vision, vomiting and coughing fits (which will alert roaming bandits) unless you have the medication to treat it (or can improvise). Intensley irradiated areas that you can only venture into with protective gear - physical fatigue and impariment from radiation sickness etc etc. Instead of everyone spawning with a geiger counter welded to our foreheads - make it a piece of equipment that has to be looted or stolen - perhaps even crafted from rare scrap electronics drops. Maybe even over time - with too much exposure, the player themselves could mutate. Zombies are overused in this day and age, but rarley do we ever see or experience the process of becoming one in a game. What if players in Rust could become zombies with too much exposure, or maybe even gain advantageous mutations, with their own set of drawbacks (for example, enhanced night vision, but partial blindness during the day.) Radiation could be an invisible enemy that constantly stalks the player, creating the tense atmosphere of never knowing if an open sunny field will kill you in a matter of minutes or not.
Please just add something other than updates on art assets. The game needs much more content.
A shadow creature, Alan Wake style. Would fit in well with the day/night cycle.
Nightime: 15 MINUTES OF HELL
After a quick 30 minute nap a moment of inspiring shit happened! They told me to use them, they surrounded me in their all powerful glow and said "use us" so I say unto you!!!!! Use gods, Just give no damned hope to the players, all powerful, ever present, and all destroying Gods. You don't even have to model them, no one knows what a God truly looks like except me and boy did it burn. Upon using Gods you will notice a profound effect on how many players play rust. So divine in fact it would be as if you were using divine power it's self to cast all the players out of the game unto a new level of existence. So I say unto you, Gods for good!......... ps I am drugged, probably in holding cell of unknown origin, and aliens keep screaming at me. Daffodils.
The first and third votes CANNOT fit with Radiation ?!? It s like using zombie with peter pan, or mickey in resident evil , or bugs bunny in a Ghibli movie... Nothing is impossible anyway... according to me Military is dumb. It is better to have only human who s playing ith "human character" ! my vote is for robots ...
godzilla born with nuclear rad in last movie ? and lots of very big monsters born like that in movies why not. dinosaur island like movie lost world why not. the world is not enough destroyed to see the mutant appear like fallout. where robot and military come from and for why, this island had 4 poor destroy city, and military or military bots don t come with no good reason to protect or destroy. Alien, evil monsters too much fantasy, but why not. in all cases a very dangerous please.
