How big are these procedurally generated maps? I think it would be really fun to have different AI in different lands or biomes. I mined as well post this here while I am at it. I came up with these ideas for bandits about a month ago. I was planning on attempting to make 3D models out of them, but because of work that has to be put on hold. I apologize if some of the wording is "dated". I made this before the announcement of the mutants and other possible enemy types. I have heard separate ideas on whether “RAD NPCs” are being completely getting rid of or not. Personally, I rather like the idea of there being RAD NPCs, but I do not like the zombies and rad animals. Zombies are rather over done in post apocalyptic worlds, and having RAD animals drop armor, blue prints and equipment destroys the immersion of the player (kind of like how a Mud-Crab in Skryim can drop a battle axe 0_o). Myself and a few other players like the idea of adding enemy human NPCs in place of the current RAD enemies. [U]The story behind them would be that they have either stayed on in the radiation or area too long and have basically gone crazy or feral.[/U] Though I am not sure what they should be called. I think for now, I just call them [B]Ferals[/B] (unless anyone else has some ideas). However, they could also be placed by random objects (like a wrecked farm, chopper, etc). I guess you can say the designs help reflect the stages of development with the RAD NPCs (I am a historian after all XD ). The names, designs and and behavior are all subject to change. [U][B]Wolf/Light Feral[/B][/U] [B]Design[/B] – influenced by the red/RAD zombie in the game, it would wear a bloody cloth armor or parts of a RAD suit. Also, reflecting the RAD wolf, the feral would wear a Wolf plet. It could include wearing the head of the wolf to form a mask or hood. Perhaps some sort of tail? [B]Speed[/B] – Fastest of the Ferals. Can run as fast as a naked/fresh respawn player (to see my idea of player speed and equipment weight, see this thread). [B]Damage/Attack[/B] – Attacks with a stone hatchet, crude looking knife (like a scythe or sickle?), or perhaps a torch. Attack does little damage, a hit has a chance of causing poison, radiation build up or burn damage. [B]Health/Armor[/B] – Being the fastest, it is also the weakest of the three. It would only take 1 – 2 arrows from the hunting bow to him/her down. [B]Sound[/B] - ? Laughing? Very quick sounding gibberish? [U][B]Deer/Medium Feral[/B][/U] [B]Design[/B] – I had some difficulty figuring out what kind of design his character could have. However, while I was going through tumblr, I found this costume/cosplay and I absolutely love it. He would wear bloody leather armor and have antlers or some kind of horns. Perhaps an actual deer head or pelt? [B]Speed[/B] – Can be out run by fresh/naked spawns. [B]Damage/Attack[/B] – medium damage. Can kill a fresh/naked spawn in 3 – 4 hits. Would carry a metal hatchet. [B]Health/Armor[/B] – Would take 2 – 4 arrows from the hunting bow to take down. [B]Sound[/B] - ? [U][B]Bear/Heavy Feral[/B][/U] [B]Design[/B] – A cross between the RAD bear and HEAVY zombie. Would wear scrap bloody metal armor (see this thread for armor idea). Would also wear a bear pelt for a hood or mask. Biggest of the Ferals. [B]Speed[/B] – Rather slow. Can be out run by most players. The only players he/she is faster (or as fast) are players wearing the heaviest gear and have the heaviest weapons/tools equipped (held in there hand). Movement would appear rather lumbering. [B]Damage/Attack[/B] - Heavy damage. Would wield a pickaxe. Or perhaps a hand-cannon (only fires when very close to player). Can kill a naked/fresh spawn in one hit. [B]Health/Armor[/B] – Take 4-5 rows to take down. [B]Sound[/B] – Grunts? So what do you guys think? I am completely open to suggestions. If you want to submit sketches, or your own designs go right ahead. Try to stick with realism, and survival. I would stick with real animals, but a lot of different types... with some legendary types, like a massive stag that will fight back, and really requires a group to take down. A large bear, etc etc... One idea though, that would really make you stand out... would be to take your game world, get it finalized with procedural generation working the way you want it, with your prefab towns...but then reskin your prefab towns into sets. Modern, western (think cowboys and indians), prehistoric, egyptian, whatever you can think of... reskin those towns, and make equivalent weapon sets for each "period". Server admins can then set their game to one of those skins... all you would be doing literally is reskinning or remodeling buildings, including player made structures if you ever need to... duplicating weapons (new models and skins, same methods of attack whenever they can be implemented). The only time the animals really matter would be in respect to prehistoric times... in which you just need to create and add in other spawns for "special" themed animals... dinosaurs in this case. medieval too ;) Servers could actually be configured to run a specific theme each day, so you login to your server one day and you cannot use the military weapons, and are forced to use things like the bow and arrow, or atlattle... player buildings could be created, boxes placed in them, but box contents may end up locked in the box, or swapped out with something else of equal "level" for that themes period... It would take a little bit of work to get things modeled and skinned for each theme, scripting AI will hopefully be done right by you guys in the end anyway, and be somewhat simple for you. The only thing that would really turn into a headache would be trying to balance weapons between periods. Obviously nothing like a shotgun or M4 existed in medieval times... I am sure a lot of you will say this is an idiotic lame-brained idea... but I think it would be neat :P

Werewolves are the answer. Add in wolfbane bushes so you can cure yourself if bitten. And silver veins of ore. Or we could go with Minotaurs. Some Minotaurs could be unarmed. Some with clubs. Some could even be armored. Vampires might be too close to zombies unless modified. Skeletons! Different weapons and armor included. Naked crazy people. But my uncle might press charges for copyright.

Dinosaurs?, aliens? ... really? PLEASE READ! I would say, 3 different types, all humans apart from the usual animals. For low level, cave man living in the mountains in groups and using bow/arrows, spears and hatchets, they could drop some bow, arrows, stone hatchets and resources, metal/sulfur ore in small quantities. Medium level, more advanced but like MAD MAX characters, around 10 individuals spawning at random rates, living in small compounds like small rad right now, medium level weapons, pipe shotgun, hatchets and whatever will be add to the game, medium level weapons, could drop their own guns (just sometimes) with very small ammo quantity, medium medkits, some metal fragments and gunpowder, wood planks etc. Now the big boys, military compound, big like big rad at the moment or even bigger, 20 individuals, best guns armor and only a couple of entrances and maybe 6/8 boxes in random places (maybe 20 diferent spawn places) of the compound, changing every few game hours so we cant just run in to them. in the boxes you could find m4 m16 p250 all the good weapons but in very small quantities maybe 1 box of the 6/8, could find some kevlar armour, big medkits, and the best items in the game. Little catch, this best items (armour/weapons/ammo) would have durability, couldnt be researched or fixed. the medkits only need cloth and blood from the animals so could be researched, its cool. Now the military compound and the personal there should be so good that we could only go there if we got 20/30 people to swarm the place, we would have to get all together or most, to run in there with our low/medium class weapons to stand a chance of getting anything out. The idea would be that the top weapons arent easily available and would stop people from going on a killing spree, they would save the best weapons for serious business, once they runned out of the best ammo they could make ammo but like the handmade shotgun shells right now that could be used on the best weapons but would make less damage, accuracy etc. Give me some feedback please.

I have to admit I didn't read all the posts. But dinosaurs? How? Was there a nuclear weapon compared with DNA? Or were the dinosaurs a terror group who throw the bomb?. For sure I don't want the next zombieapocalypse, but dinosaurs? Let's get the motherfucking army in there. They just try to keep the possibly mutated people (player) from the borders. And of course mutated animals. I mean rust is radiated. I think there should be a minimum amount of logic. Thank you

well, ok, the dinos I'm not specially. But still guys, need a little innovation ... I do not know what ... if you want soldiers and mutant resume as Fallout, metro etc etc etc etc etc .... Its not interested to have creatures that are specific to the world of Rust, having new experiences, where legendary creatures of our time we hunt? I am not saying that we should not military, it's always nice. But also need something that changes other than the mutants, other radioactive creatures ...

I think it would be cool to have military guys that can raid your base if they find it. Might bring people on the server together a bit more
Please no military... The other players already have kevlar and super weapons. And i just don't like that idea. I like the idea of dinosaurs and mutants things. Dinosaurs look like boss. Mythical creatures could be good too ! They destroyed the known world after being for thousands of years hidden.

I can't honestly believe you would all rather have dinosaurs (boring & unbelievable) or military (boring & hard to implement). ALIENS are what this game was made for. ALIENS which menacingly fly overhead in search for human settlements large enough to pose a threat to their plans of conquest. ALIENS which carry exotic equipment such as the GRAVITY GUN, TELEPORTERS, JETPACKS, DEFLECTOR SHIELDS and ENERGY CELLs. The equipment, when captured, may refuse to work in the hands of a human (avoiding overpowered effects) and then come alive in the presence of aliens - OR - it may have a limited number of charges. ALIENS which temporarily setup ground camps/bases just WAITING for players to team up and take it out. ALIENS which, when research/autopsied, lead to further opportunities & abilities & knowledge which can be used to either fight the Aliens ... or other players.
Imagine trying to steal the dinosaurs eggs.
