It's pretty hypocritical.
I suggest if and when you add random world generation, that you make multiple islands. It would make the world interesting if people had to make bridges, or if they were pre-built, they could take them over. Maybe you could also add water in between the islands that players could swim and fish in. The water would only be able to swam into so far without drowning. Players could also make boats and ports for transport. I feel that Rust will be amazing if it develops more into the possibility for Social and Economic systems. With ways to become, say, fishermen or architects, Rust could develop more on social interactions rather than the normal shoot, loot, or befriend.
Why the swords and shields, I'm pretty sure this game takes place in the post apocalypse, the whole swords and shield thing would just throw off the entire vibe of the game, I like all the other ideas too, but not too sure on the vehicles..
I'd take a sword and shield any time! My favorite weapon is the bow and for up close work I'd love a sword. Epic battles. Unless the other guy has a gun. lol
All of them require somekind of machine to manufacture the parts, which is where the looting comes in, Looting Kiddie gun pieces to attach to a rifle will be awesome, Like a bbgun barrel and a barret 50.
