1/21/16 Error After Game Update: Disconnected EAC: EAC Disconnected Error
71 replies, posted
OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite
Steps I have taken to resolve the EAC. EAC Disconnected error:
1. Verify Integrity of game.
2. Reinstall the game.
3. Turn off Firewall.
4. Add Rust & Steam to the "System Preferences>Security>Accessibility" List.
5. Tested all of the beta options. None of the beta options worked.
Its kind of common sense to debug cross-platform and on different versions of an OS! Please fix this or rollback the update. . . .
OS X El Capitan, Macbook Pro (15-inch, mid 2014)
Friduwulf;49581176']Mac specs (if this helps Holmzy and team): OS X El Capitan, Macbook Pro (15-inch, mid 2012), Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB.
it's probably more helpful to press F7 and report from there in the future
I understand that programming is a complicated thing and the developers do a much better job than I. That said, did no-one hop on a MAC/linux and try to run the game with update before releasing to the public? I'm not sure how large the MAC user base is for Rust but it appears quite large. I have also scoured the forums in search of an ETA of a fix but only get redirected to this page which holds no answers save that the problem is acknowledged.
Were all frustrated trust me, I was asking myself these very same questions using much more unpleasant language as i listened on Skype to my teammates and my base getting raided with me unable to help. I did manage to log in and smash a guy in the head with a rock a couple times before disconnecting lol.
Since it appears they are closing other threads related to this issue and re-directing people to this thread I would say it's safe to assume they will be posting something here when there is a resolution. From what people have said here and on other forums rust does tend to experience some growing pains when updating, the other issue being Easy Anti Cheat is a third party developer, since the issue specifically quotes "EAC" i'm assuming this is a conflict with their software which may require some cooperation on their part.
One post i read on reddit theorized it could be tied directly to Easy Anti Cheat on the server side, they said after disabling they could connect, this obviously hasn't been verified so we just don't know yet.
It's tough to accept and trust me everyone heres in the same boat as you, but we simply have to wait, we haven't been provided with much information most likely because they don't have any new information to provide at the moment.

Thanks Cobain, you are correct that I posted before thinking a little. I know we are all frustrated.. sigh* patience have never been a strong suit of mine.
Very well said. Good job keeping a level head in this situation. We are all on edge. Rust just now, after months of not playing due to a crippling 500mb update, allows me to play, this happen lol
Thanks Cobain, you are correct that I posted before thinking a little. Yea I freaked out and thought it was El Capitan (because it screws with all my games). Almost resetted my computer (cuz **** el capitan) but found this forum. It's too late in the USA to fix it right now people are at home sleeping. They just did a bunch of sound updates with the recent patch which in the past has screwed up peoples ability to connect or keep connection. Hopefully will get fixed tomorrow. Just came back to the game this week was frustrated with it today.

Haha your completely justified in being frustrated man, trust me I am none to happy myself! I just keep trying to remind myself that if you look at how many people have posted in this thread you realize it's actually a major issue. I completely agree that this update should have been more thoroughly tested, while I understand this is classified as an alpha this game was originally release at the end of 2013 which stands to reason they have been at this for awhile, while all these new features are really cool, they mean nothing if the players can't even get on the game.
So two things come to mind, first its a major enough issue to where they are sure to take notice, which they have acknowledged they have and work diligently to resolve. This thread alone at the moment has 1,033 views and 33 replies and has remained toward the top of the forums all day, trust i've been checking religously. Second because it is such a large issue and if you check the forums this is not the only issue after the update the developers I'm sure have their work cut out for them.
I'd like to know if the update can be rolled back/reverted until the issues can be resolved or not.

I agree, CobainsDomain. Despite the fact that the majority of Rust players use Windows products, there is still a small albeit important part of the community that uses Mac to play. Regardless of the other issues with the new update I've read, this, nevertheless, seems to be at the top of the list for the devs to work on, or should be. You always want people to play your game even if the game is buggy after updates. That's step number one.

Exactly, this is trending like crazy and honestly as players you guys are all doing your part to get it resolved quickly, we've provided a great deal of information on how widespread the issue is and provided them with essential information on the systems effected i.e. Linux/Unix based OS.
Also this is trending on their reddit forum as well.
Well, I have my [NR] clan hard at work rebuilding from today's wipe. I'm indirectly organizing them through teamspeak/steam and vicariously experiencing the new server dynamic. It would be good to get an approximation as to when this issue might be resolved. I'm waiting in anticipation, but will focus on other things if this is likely a week-long job for the devs and patching the solution to it in next Thursday's update (which would be unfortunate).
Yes my pc playing friends are hard at work rebuilding our base, i'm coordinating the rebuild effort over steam and sketching out our next base design while they collect blueprints. The update came just before a raid and i was in the middle of fortifying lol.
i guess all we can do is wait it out
Waiting is the hardest part, but even developers have to sleep sometimes. Patience is a virtue for a reason, but I can't help obsessively recheck this post every 30 minutes.

True, Facepunch is i think headquartered in Walsall, England. it's like 6:17 AM there atm. I was desperately hoping for a same day fix. Obviously that isn't going to happen. I've just been sketching out base designs and watching gameplay videos while hearing the blood curdling screams of my teammates over Skype as they have been repeatedly raided since this update took me offline.
Same issue here with ubuntu 14.04 - EAC disconnect after 1 minute gameplay.
In my case this is good thing that rust is not working. Started to take too much time of my life ;), I really need a little break.
But still waiting for fix and hope it is coming soon.

Well I respect your up-beat attitude toward the situation, it's taking everything i've got to maintain the same lol. I hope it will be up and running soon as well.
Same here. Mac OSX and Linux. Once again they only check that the PC client runs, and then ... good enough!
If you are a Mac or Linux user, this happens every couple of months ... you would think they would do a routine check to see that it at least runs before pushing an update...
We are aware and working on it
Thanks for acknowledging us, Holmzy. Any indications whether we are talking hours, or days, before we can get back in?

So far there has been no update as to whether or not any progress has been made, the twitter feed mentions fixing some things but there is no mention of a fix for the mac issue what so ever. I was reading some posts from months ago where a similar issue occurred, i know mac's or the minority but when purchasing this game a week back and seeing it supported Mac i was hoping it actually meant "support" lol.
Making an error is no problem......no feedback for 12 hours is.
by the way i reported that bug multiple times while testing the dev branch yesterday (Arch linux) I guess my efforts where useless.
Fix the damn thing. THX ,the Linux excuse doesnt work this time since its mac too. Or is mac a useless platform too? If it is say so :smug:
https://twitter.com/garrynewman/status/690482868561276929 rip us. Does this mean that by the end of the weekend, we'll be able to play again? Or, does this mean by next weekend (one week away), we will be able to play? Slightly ambiguous, but at least the King responds.
FIX EAC DISCONNECT FOR MAC USERS
I just found the solution how to fix this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bug that we faced after update.
STEPS:
1) Open Rust Properties in steam
2) go to Local Files and click Browse Local Files
3) Delete files : 1. eac0.bin , 2. Rust.exe , 3. steam_appid.txt.
Then go to Rust Properties --> local files again and VERIFY GAME CACHE
After that i joined rust again and now everything working.
It helps for me, hope it will help you too!!!
GOOD LUCK

Can anyone confirm this is a real/safe solution or is bzdenko being a troll?

I wouldn't. I can't remember where i've seen that solution before, but i know it was for an entirely different problem though. I'd probably wait to hear from a developer, or hell an update, before we start deleting random files.
You can check this post by press right click on rust and press Forum, i wrote there, and this method is working everyone said. =D good luck waiting 1 week)

Deleting files is not really an issue especially when it comes to steam games and thier actual game content files (Exe and so forth) becuase 1. steam can verify and replace them or 2. you can reinstall the game fresh, but i have done this to test and it works for me. ive stayed in the game more that 10 mins so far. witch is better than the 2 i got. so it at least extends the time. So i will say yes this is working for me.

Ive tested this and want to repeat just to make sure people see it but it has fixed it for me. been on the server for a while now and no disconnect. :D

I did this and can confirm it is a fix. I am not sure if it is a temporary or permanent fix, but it works, and only time will tell. I've been online for 30 minutes and going already. Spread the word, boys. Thanks, bzdenko.

I can also confirm this fixed the issue on my machine
The problem seems to be fixed now, just logged on and haven't been disconnected. :)
The issue should be fixed now. Do let us know if you'd still experience the same problem.
We're really sorry about this happening.
