Just try and find servers without the little kids. The server I play on regularly has almost no squeaky voiced kids, but it's extremely competitive PVP. We don't police the playerbase, but lets say they find no quarter with us. Any kids that join the server are usually given a brutal welcome. If they can tough it out, they are tough enough to stay :)
You'll get used to people doing dumb stuff, and ways to prevent it from being possible (diagonally placed foundations helps keep things away from your walls/doors. All of that said, two friends and I decided to build a house on the Multiplay war kit server last night, and we were met with doors around our doors, etc. Can't get too upset about it, you get numb to it and just kick their asses, as we did. Was like 2 v 8 for 5mins while we were waiting to be able to place our metal door after destroying the wood one. We defended it with only one death. The good thing about idiots is they usually suck at the game. People spend all their time being assholes, aren't out fine tuning their aim.

Lol just play with friends, I have built some massive bases (7x7 up to 20 stories high) with just hard work and luck with airdrops/raids. We have never exploited or cheated to get this accomplished.
