Since there's radiation everywhere, along with rabid animals, why not add mutated, crime-against-nature looking animals?

Then what's the point of adding them? Why wouldn't you just join on a server that has teams of dudes running around w/ kevalar+milspec weapons and try to kill them?
There's already plenty of deadly human opponents that fulfill what I imagine you want out of these bots, making them largely redundant/pointless.
Zombies get removed and replaced with mutants, like teletubies, my little pony's and baby seals/penguins and the already known bear cubs, bunnies and chickens. Also black zombies become Domos.
Mutants seems the obvious choice.

Mutated cavemen in furs, with scavenger weapons? (drop resources/meat & scavenger items)
AND
Military patrols that scout along the road, like 4-6 dudes (drop modern loot like kevlar, equipment, weapons and canned foods - flown in by chopper?)
AND
A deadly Rambo dude, who KOS (drops very cool loot - only one can spawn)

Does it seem to fair to assume that FP would think animals dropping anything other than what we get off of them at the moment would be a bit silly? Temporarily would be cool.

I wouldn't like a new NPC each week/month
Thats more of a MMO style.
Maybe add more types of NPC's into the world, but not change them. It would seem annoying to constantly have to patch the game because different sorts of NPCs have come.

I would like to see specific mobs for each part of the map if biomes get implemented... Some form of humaniod would make the most logical choice, but yea, zombies are overdone. Even if if they are hostile NPC roamers, it doesn't have to be overthought.
Reading all of the suggestions I think the best replacement at the moment (most likely a placeholder even) are mutants. It should be a simple replace or mesh and texture and animation. I like the idea of also having range attack types but we probably won't see that. Further on, I would love to see some sort of a scavenging/primitive human NPC, which forage resources in the area and KOS if you're in close vicinity to their settlement.

If we're talking about what and what doesn't make sense then tell me how a zombie can carry entire metal houses around in their pockets. Got a metal foundation and two metal stairs from a zombie just the other day.
