Therefore they are making the game to suit their pleasures, if they want penises flopping anywhere in their game, then they will have it. Should I post the video again? They aren't going to remove nudity just because a few people are against it. They have no reason to remove it, and they like it, or else they never would have added it in the first place.

Personally - I think the nudity makes sense gameplay wise. When you consider the climate of the island and the warmth system, it makes sense to be cold at night and warm during the day if you lack clothing. The "kill or be killed" nature of the game also lets nudity make sense. If your "new life" is regaining consciousness after being knocked out, it's plausible a raider took whatever clothing you had so that they may survive. The option to add undergarments would portray manners like: "Man, look at all this good shit this guy has on him! Wait, better not take his underwear, don't want him getting cold..." Being completely nonsensical. In my opinion, nudity fits well with the setting the devs want to portray, hence why they're not removing it or putting in an option. If you have a problem with that, you can stop playing and get out.

I think Garry said it best. We live in a world where shooting people with unnatural machines of war is completely the norm. Even imitated in video games. As soon as you bring into a conversation one of the most natural things that exist it becomes weird. Something that gives life to people. So strange. We dress men up in costumes and send them on planes and boats to a foreign land where they then proceed to mutilate other humans with weapons. When they come back we praise them for their achievements and all that they have accomplished. They live out the rest of their lives or go mad from the experience. This is all completely normal though. Penises are disgusting and I should never have to see one except for my own. NOTE: I'm not saying we should get rid of violent video games. Just commenting on the ridiculousness of wanting only nudity removed from them.

Let me see if I can concoct a logical argument to NOT change nudity. 1.) As mentioned earlier, I think the nudity makes sense from a game design perspective. Starting out buck-naked in the middle of a zombie infested forest with nothing more than a rock at your disposal is the ultimate feeling of vulnerability. 2.) It's perfectly explainable if you spend a little work on the backstory (took me a few minutes to come up with the idea of exiled prisoners dropped off in the middle of nowhere with no clothes whatsoever) 3.) In order to change it would require work. Trust me, it's not as easy as "just slap underwear on the model". They would actually have to remodel that entire portion of the mesh, not to mention completely redoing their unwrapping work, creating new textures, etc. It takes getting used to, sure, but once you get over it, it feels completely normal. The best argument I've heard so far against it is Youtube. That one's a bit of a gray area. I think as long as it's not sexual, I doubt it will be taken down. If you want to be careful, slap a warning sticker on the front of your video warning that the game contains male nudity (probably good practice to do so in any case)

All I've seen so far boils down to: 1. It's unnecessary (Already pointed out why it's necessary, refer back to my earlier post.) 2. My kid can't watch the game (mmmmmmkay) 3. You guys are obsessed with dicks but I'm not! (lol okay) 4. Makes no sense! (But it does.) 5. A majority of us wants it gone! (I don't really see a majority in favor of removing it to be honest, seems the community is more overwhelmingly accepting of it)

What are kids doing watching you play games, anyway? I absolutely hate my little brother watching over my gameplay from behind my back, pounding me with questions and distracting me from what I'm doing. If anything, a reason to deter him from watching what I play would be ideal.

There are so many games with female nudity now a days. I really doubt you guys have a problem with GTA, Hitman, Farcry, Metro.. and the many others that have female nudity. Its only when its a penis that it becomes a problem because it makes you uncomfortable.

Since you seem so insistent that the nudity requires justification then fine, i'll give you some. First, it's only logical that if you are not currently wearing any clothing (the first "armor" you can make is just clothes) you should be naked. This is a fact that games shy away from all too often due to the worry they'll be given an adult only rating causing them to be treated like porn by our society. That's actually a sad state of affairs and does not serve as an argument for why nudity shouldn't be there. Second, we don't know the intended backstory so for all you know it would fit perfectly into whatever story they may have planned for the game for you to start completely naked. When the only thing you have to go on for the setting are known placeholders intended to be removed from the game at a later date, you can't really say what the setting is intended to be or whether anything currently in it would fit that setting. I do have to agree that it's a bit of a problem for Youtube purposes though. The people saying "they can just edit it out" apparently don't understand how things work on Youtube. Channels are a business and editing out nudity (especially when it's so common) is extra work for that business to produce the same content they can get from any other game. It's hard enough for Indie titles to get coverage from Youtube channels without providing those channels the reason of not wanting to risk getting their videos flagged to avoid covering it. When someone has to make the choice of how to spend their next week making videos and it comes down to a popular new release (practically guaranteed high revenue stream) that requires no extra editing work on their part or an indie alpha product (a risk at best) that they have to do a lot of extra censoring work on, which do you think they'd pick? I'm not saying that's a valid reason they should change it (I don't think they should) but it does mean Rust is likely to get significantly less free advertising from Youtube than they otherwise might have.

I have talked about this game to a few of my friends and most of them do say that the nudity seems kind of "gay" and get stuck on that aspect of the game rather than all of the awesome things you can do on it, I, for one think it adds a touch of realism to the game and while I could go either way I enjoy you start out naked because it seems to add a sense of urgency when you first start out and while i don't have any kids I do know that the kid in Old Yeller put his dog down with a gun but it didn't show his balls all up in your face and Kids play with paintball guns and water guns and know that its pretend so that same type of thinking could be applied to a game without gore but seeing someone's reproductive organs for the first time animated or not, is a lil different.
