• HFB, what the hell is your problem?

this is a huge mess... I no longer have any way to test my mods to oxide because they have to approve all my mods... so how the heck am I supposed to test mods to get them in a workable state if they have to be approved before I can use them?
Just for reference, a statement was made concerning Oxide and HFB servers which you can read here. As of the latest version of Oxide (released a few days ago), there are no known possible exploits a malicious plugin author can use (unlike Leather, which by design allows plugin authors full control to the server in the form of binary-based plugins - though this is being resolved by their latest iteration known as Neolith I believe).
If they had released server files from day one do you have any idea what kind of exploits would be out there? Imagine the scale of the uLink problem but a new exploit being found every couple of days. It would be hard to build a community like rust has if all the servers were down due to exploits 24/7.
Not if they structure their netcode right. Security through obscurity is always a terrible idea.
any word from you guys on making r++ workable ?
Just asked for a refund, they took two days and my server still isn't up. And what I'm hearing here seems like its just a mess.
HFB is doing shit right now...
HFB is doing shit right now...
Apparently. No one has been able to play on my server since the patch since its been 4 1/2 hours since I submitted a ticket about the Steam Updater not working and nothing.
Apparently. No one has been able to play on my server since the patch since its been 4 1/2 hours since I submitted a ticket about the Steam Updater not working and nothing.
Really? I updated my HFB server a few hours ago and it seems to be fine. However I agree that HFB does not communicate with their customers well enough. Suffice to say that I understand they are getting all sorts of tickets and questions left and right but something tells me that a server that I was hosting myself would be much more stable (and free). Maybe I shouldn't expect so much from a $20/month server... but some customer service shouldn't depend on the price tag.

Just want access to mods back. :) Patiently waiting.

http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1345525 These false accusations of Leather being directly malicious are not correct. GSP should be running the rust server on a limited user account that has no file permissions outside of the folder, or they could simply disallow FTP access to the plugins and have a mod manager to install verified mods for them.
Another day, another iteration of the FUD campaign run by Oxide against Leather. Yawn.
-snip-
Hmm that does look horribly frustrating.... I was getting timeout errors when trying to just connect to TCAdmin earlier, but they passed... it's still slow as shit but I update worked fine. And I'm assuming you've tried to run this multiple times with the same result? [editline]9th January 2014[/editline]
This. Whereas HFB supposedly had all their folders open to the client.
Hello hfb? you there?
15 hours to respond to tickets, I submitted my final ultimatum before I cancel my sub
My Ticket Answer from HFB Marc B || Staff Hello David, Oxide should already be uninstalled from your server. As for Rust++, We are working with the Rust++ and Rust Essential developers to have these mods added to the control panel as soon as possible. We estimate that it would probably take an update/patch to Rust itself to fix the security issue which sparked most of these problems. At this time we cannot see ourselves re-allowing FTP/File manager access to more Rust files than are currently available. However, once we complete our work with the Rust++ and Rust Essential devs we will be able have these mods easily update-able and accessible through our Mod Manager once again so our users would not need to alter any files themselves. To summarize, we cannot give a clear ETA on when all of this will be cleared up, but we are actively working towards these goals and hope to have them available as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. xD Edit: JUST DELETE THIS OXIDE CRAP >.< Never Put it in Again! And all is fine for me And Next: I got 80 Ping on Germany Server. HOW MAN? im in Berlin. How i can get so much high ping to a Server to Frankfurt or other? I got to France Servers from other Server providers better Pings...

They're waiting for facepunch to make a patch to fix their security problem? The company that states they will do nothing to support modding?
They just want make Money all time not more...we got DDos Problems and have to Pay 50$ for Security on Server every month. What is that man... DDos = Problem Lets make with Problems MONEY!! gg...
I want to know why it's taking HFB so long to act on this when other providers are allowing their customers to setup / install Mods on their servers. I bought another server with a competitor last night. It was set up and online within 2 minutes, and 3 minutes later I had all the mods that I needed installed and configured. We've not really had any problems with HFB since we started renting from them 3 weeks ago, but I have absolutely no reason to stay with them right now when other providers are allowing people to install the mods they want/need. At least I still have access to the map/user data so I can transfer it to another provider. I'm also still waiting for a ticket reply that I submitted 18 hours ago. It's pathetic at how slow they are going and it wouldn't surprise me if they've lost a ton of their customers already.

I submitted my last reply 17 hours ago mate.
@idyn id also like to know which company you switched over to ? I've been waiting over 2 days now for a reply from HFB and still nothing :( i really don't understand what there problem is taking this long to get the mods put back in . And 2 days for a ticket is shocking imo .
Thats awesome HFB was the first to recognize this problem and the last to get this new setup implemented, priceless :words: useless
As far as I know, HFB will NOT be putting mods back in... at least not yet. Maybe Rust++ will get another installer, but the makers of Oxide specifically asked them to remove the installer for their mod, so it will likely not be back. Once the security stuff is taken care of I'm sure HFB will re-allow full FTP access so we can manually mod again. EDIT: HFB currently allows FTP to the myserverdata folder. In-case that was unclear lol.
Don't go with HFBservers if you're thinking about purchasing a server. The first few weeks with them everything ran smoothly for the most part and averaged 35-40 players. But recently, it's been a pain to attract players to the server. I've given up and will be switching to a new provider soon.
Ty sievers808 that's what i thought , I still don't understand what's taking so long. I've just asked for a refund with HFB , Im glad i didn't move my 3 dayz server over with them as i was going to , At least vilayer the longest ive wated for a ticket is a day , Shame they don't host rust .
I'm right there with you guys going through HFB frustration. It seems pretty unprofessional that they fail to send out any kind of notices to customers. I don't need to know the server is going down for maintenance or security reasons in advance, but I would appreciate knowing why it's happening when it happens. How long does it take to send out a quick notice, not long. Whats up with announcements being posted in the Billing CP? I guess because it gets used so much more often than the Game CP. So far I haven't been real impressed with HFB. I'm basing my opinion on how they treat customers, and react to problems. Stuff happens, I get that. If you take care of your people, you don't piss off nearly as many of them when stuff happens.
Even a update off them just to say sorry we haven't forgot about you we are working on it and will get back asap , that's all we ask , Just so we know its getting looked at . I'm not asking for much lol .
