First off, incredible respect has been earned that you asked this question. Secondly, I really appreciate it and was set back to get a response. I'm guessing Dan is a prop artist, so if there is one thing I'd love to see, it is better feedback to what other players have equipped. Whether it's an axe, stone hatchet, or metal hatchet it all uses the same model when looking at another player, so if I'm going to go toe to toe it would be nice to know how hard they are going to hit...or how quickly they are going to gather. At any stage of the development process feedback for the player is critical and not knowing what someone is armed with it a pretty big break IMO. Also, swapping these models out shouldn't need any code or design support so Dan shouldn't be bottle-necked by other pipelines, could be some animation or rigging work to be done but a simple swap that is placeholder should be minimal.

I like it in general I just don't like the spaces between the rocks.
That looks cool, am I really gonna be the only one to point out the mud/grout holding the rocks together or the carbon buildup staining it darker? The shape is kind of odd almost an egg shape. Even a guy with nothing can put some stones together and shape out a smokestack a door a slagpit etc... Not that it shouldn't be crude. After all we're beating rocks together to make this stuff. Not tungsten blades and shit to make everything precise down to the millimetre.
It'll definitely spice stuff up a bit though. Who cares what it looks like. The fact that people will log in and go "oh wow, the furnace is different" just kinda proves that this game is going places fast. Tbh I can't even remember what the old resource nodes look like. That is awesome. Bugs content textures I've seen great stuff from each assigned department. Keep up that stellar work the rust team has my full support.
I think this will be great. You guys can sit here and come up with a million things you think Dan should be doing instead and then Gary can come back and make you all look like idiots and explain why 90% of the shit YOU guys think he should be doing either can't be done now or isn't Dans job. For all you guys know Dan could be an amateur, maybe he doesn't deal with animations or large artwork. There are so many things you guys don't know but you're going to sit here and act like you know better.
IMO in needs to look like it is just a load of stones piled up. Fits with the theme.
I think you guys should leave it as bear poop for the time being and focus on trying to get decent sized updates on things that really need to be worked on for every month or every two weeks or so, your not going to get things like this perfect first,second,third time round just updated it throw it out see what people say on the forums then if you need to change it again well change it again in the next patch...don't linger on things to much.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke. That's all I gotta say to the new furnace design.
Just my 2 cents. I'm aching to see Stone Buildings and metal barricades and spikes in the game, I don't know if these are more of a technical or artistic challenge, but I'd be fine with those solid pinkish-purple outlines for now as long at they worked. :)

and of course the hacker problem but that is going be an ongoing fight for a long time and is expected in this stage of development. This is all stuff you guys are all ready thinking about and working on just shift focus to those items, not to say you guys didn't do a good job with what you have done lately. personally I think retexturing shouldn't be the highest priority.
With that said it is no more than a opinion and in no way bashing your game or what your team has achieved.
