I have the exact same problems as state above. Game stalls at the gray screen with the face punch logo!
I tried both the Devbranch and non-beta. I am playing on a Macbook pro 15". And before this update I was able to play the game (with occasional freezes).

The worst thing is it was not working well , only way to make it 'work well' was to put aload of launch option turn everything to low and bare with 30 fps max .

The game is alpha and you got warned before you bought a key.
Noone has a valid reason to QQ at this point.
If you rented a server that early then just bootcamp and play under Winblows till the osx client is fixed.
I'm running osx too, just be patient.
