Last Zombie Thread | Sticky Pls - Rust

Okay, before this thread starts, I'm going to explain what Alpha is, since most of you here don't seem to understand. Alpha is the experimental design phase of a game. Nothing is set in stone, some games change so drastically that they change genre's in a alpha. Alpha's have became more stable with the early access wave. No, Alpha is NOT for ironing out bugs, it's fore CORE game changes and adding to the game as a whole, and dealing with the bugs it brings on. There is no real 'dev server testing' as you might think, just maybe one or two to make sure there is no huge game breaking bug like the game freezing and crashing your HD so your computer never works. I'd hate seeing how mad you'd all get if that happened, and yes, it has happened in testing before. Your head would explode. *Alpha - Complete testing phase, expect major changes to the game/map(s)/everything. **Beta - Bug squashing, stress testing, extra polish for gameplay ***Release - Full Version, though more improvements may or may not be made. Before this game ever hit [B][I]Alpha[/I][/B]* on steam the devs had said they wanted to remove zombies. Apparently they see a problem with the people buying into their game at the moment, because they ripped them out and replaced them with other placeholders, so people wouldn't get confused. If you think this is a bad idea, then maybe you haven't read any of the steam forums or the posts here. Obviously people mistaken this for a zombie game because many have said so. To the people who bought the game and want a refund? I'll cite from another post, do you go to Burger King and throw money at the clerk and shout a random combo number and when you get something you don't like, stomp your feet and scream you want money back? It's your fault you didn't look into a game, yet alone a alpha, and bought it off pure word of mouth. Honestly if you wanted a zombie survival sim you got a shitty one seeing as how the zombies weren't scary, or threatening. They died with like one pickaxe hit, or arrow to the body...I mean, lame. So, quit and play another game, it was only 20 bucks so quit crying, and come back when you realize how amazing it is when 6 months down the line they implemented more things, and it's the 'cool thing to do' or 'cool game to play'. It's in [B][I]Alpha[/I][/B]*, if Garry wishes this game could be Diablo or Need For Speed tomorrow. Maybe you should wait intill [B][I]Beta[/I][/B]**, or maybe [B][I]Release[/I][/B]*** since you're so disappointed and claim this is so game breaking? Maybe they'll be in your 'safe zone' of change then, because obviously you don't like it. I personally love the level of polish that is on this game for a [B][I]Alpha[/I][/B]*, but later on it will be amazing, and one of a kind. Let the devs do what their job is, and develop the game, all this hissy fits do is make you look horrible and if they pander to your unimaginative desires it'll just harm the game THEY are trying to make. They are the only ones that know what the 'vision' is for the the end game [B][I]Release[/I][/B]***, so don't hinder it by thinking you know better then them what to do. People act like this patch is harming the game, when the reason Garry stated they did this was to combat it being labeled as a 'zombie survival game' and obviously it was, as per the amount of crying on forums.

You just had to do it, didn't you? Informative but this a process that is explained on the Steam store page or anyone that looks at.. That and a lot of people think 'alpha' is 'beta' and get the two confused, so I just outlined everything, as to inform people.

But you should leave this up to the mods. Trying to police the forum for them usually just causes more trouble, and if there was a need for a sticky explaining what an alpha is, it would've been up months ago. When I read it was an Alpha/early release, I automatically assumed it'd be a project in the works. (That's some common sense for you) Apparently some people just can't grasp the concept....

Its the same reason you get people advertising Rust Servers in General, and why this section is Shitpost heaven.

I feel the need to point out that the Red Bears and Wolves are also temporary. I suspect the devs are working on a more permanent replacement that's going to require some significant AI coding. Since there's no Magic Coding Fairy that can finish the work tomorrow, the whiners need to learn to be patient, or go play Day Z/7 Days to Die/Minecraft.

I'm aware of all this "It's an alpha, everything can change" shit, but in my opinion in this case it's actually an abuse. For me and many others removing the zombies is like changing the game's genre and that's unacceptable. When I bought the game I knew things would change here and there, but this is just too much. If You blindly agree with their right to fuck shit up as the please, You can one day see an island full of fucking unicorns. Guess what? It's an alpha - shit changes - glad to have Your money already! I think we should make a petition to developers to bring the zombies back.

They didn't change the genre, zombies weren't supposed to be in the game before it even entered Alpha. This game will ultimately be a survival game. Zombies have been done to death. Why don't all the whiners have a little patience and see what other kind of enemies they come up with. Who knows? They may end up with more interesting enemies than generic zombies that are in every other game out there. I don't know about you but I want a unique gameplay experience.
