all you have to do is build 2 foundations out from the core. the first foundation out pillar all the way up to the ceiling like this guy did, then the second foundation out pillar up were the ceilings would be, then the distance is to far to jump.
That's the one :D Haven't seen anyone using that yet though, they all go for ceilings as wide as the foundations. Usually combined with useless little diamonds with only a central pillar.
Yea, I didn't know they even had donations and crap until last night when Rushmatics tried to sell some of my stuff back for a vote on toprustservers and a donation. As for the base, Id have to perfect it alot to make sure it wouldn't be able to be raided. I'm probably going to rent a server again and test out designs.
There is a public PVE all you can build server that is pretty good. They have a /wood /c4 /whatever you need switches to test all base designs. I can get the IP when I get home if you need

I'm tired of being on servers with corrupt admins who ban and abuse as they see fit. Owning a server is only $20 a month, why would anyone need donations? Its not hard to update mods and make them work how you want.
I checked with the admin before ever using it and he said only in the case of a base where it was unraidable by other means could I use it and get away with it. I'm being blamed for the other bases when I've been completely honest and even recorded the entire thing to prove I did not use "hacks" like you claimed. If anybody can explain how this can be raided by legit means I'm all ears, I will apologize and admit I'm an idiot if anybody can describe a way to raid this without a crate jump. (The SVP thing in the screenshot is my video player (Smooth Video Project), I was accused of hacking once for having that in a screenshot so just FYI lol) [editline]10th March 2014[/editline] Naw, you're just full of it and cannot raid this base and don't want to admit you're wrong. I could take your stretched logic 1 step further and say "this guy has an aimbot, I don't have one" to every person who whines about being blatantly hacked on?
all you need are 1 barricade ,1 large woodstoarge, 1 spike wall and c4s
all you need are 1 barricade ,1 large woodstoarge, 1 spike wall and c4s
Been raided like this before on another server awhile back. Didn't they fix the building boxes on spike walls?
Using game mechanics are far from exploiting anything, spawning at your sleeping bag from dying sounds like a game mechanic to me, I think everyone does that don't they
Lol the definition of an exploit is using game mechanics in an unintended fashion. Suicide bases are exploiting the fact that you respawn at the sleeping bag and exploit the fact that large storage can be accessed from a decent distance. The person jumping on a large storage is just using game mechanics as well. They are jumping and placing a storage box, I think everyone does that don't they? The difference is most people do not combine those two mechanics for a super jump. No one is really in the right or wrong in this argument, the suicide base is an exploit and it was beat by an exploit. Live by the sword (exploit) die by the sword (exploit).

[editline]10th March 2014[/editline]
Been raided like this before on another server awhile back. Didn't they fix the building boxes on spike walls?
You don't build a box on the spike wall, you put down the large storage box/barricade close to the bases way up to the transfer door. Then there is always a pillar that can't go up to the hanging base or you build one. Then you put the barricade on that angling out towards the transfer door. Then you place the spike wall on the completed pillar as this is still possible. Make sure you angle the spike wall up towards the transfer door. Then you just jump up on the spike wall run to the door c4 it open and your in. Takes about 1-2 healing kits sometimes.

Chicken- reliably did it every single time he jumped up to my base, went up 5 stories, hit his head on the ceiling, hit the ground and did not take any damage or break his legs. In the video, when they did it they hurt themselves and broke their legs. Which is why I claimed it was hacking all along but alright believe him saying it was an exploit.
I did not do it every single time, and you don't take fall damage. Took my friend dozens of tries to get up there, in fact I don't even know why it was so easy for me there it usually takes me a bunch of tries, I think the way the barricade was placed there made it easier or something. Don't believe me? Here's me getting aimbotted by your friend while both of us struggled to get the jump to work, sorry I cut out the 20 second of us struggling before this cuz I only clipped this out to show the admins your aimbotting housemate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHK3Beb64GA

Anyone could of made that shot from 5 feet away aiming straight down at you guys from the door way.
I see no hacks in this video, probably some guy using gamma and the headshots looked like they were from like what 10 m? If you can't hit a headshot from that close you are just terrible with a gun
Both of you exploited the game. No tears shed.
Both of you exploited the game. No tears shed.
This is actually keeping me quite entertained at work, no rage coming from me. Winning internet arguments makes my E-Boner rock hard. [editline]10th March 2014[/editline] I need to start selling tickets to this show. Host it on HBO.
a simple solution would be to not allow anything built on top of pillars, would solve the need for a suicide base and remove them as well.
That video was just the icing on the cake with this guy, not saying this video in itself is proof. I doubt you'd hit those consecutive headshots though, not like I was standing still, the first shot on Baby perhaps was easy. Bate you aren't winning anything, you're still crying hacks when it's a well known bug in the game lol. Kinda like the stupid barricade xmas tree thing that everybody abuses on a daily basis.
a simple solution would be to not allow anything built on top of pillars, would solve the need for a suicide base and remove them as well.
How would that stop a suicide base? You don't have to put anything on top of pillars to get inside it. If anything, that would help suicide bases as there would be even less ways to raid them. Those dumb christmas tree things are on my list of "To dumb to use".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ_H1n3NCoI You can clearly hear the guy bust his legs as he comes down. [editline]10th March 2014[/editline]
Don't you need a crate on top of a pillar to transfer loot up?
No, the crate sits on the bottom floor, 3 stories up.
To get rid of suicide bases they would need to remove SLEEPING BAGS. which is NOT going to happen. Like I said before, there is not 1 way to prevent someone from making a suicide base.
No, they need to do something to allow foundations/pillars/ceilings to be able to be destroyed in some way. That will get rid of suicide bases. Yes, what you built is allowed within the system of the game as it stands now. No, I don't like it and think it's cheating the "Spirit" of the game. I like hoarding things as well, and like having emergency supplies lying around. However you are removing an aspect of the game by twisting the game mechanics, IMO. It's not really a "survival" anymore if you have a place you can put stuff and no longer have any fear of it going away - it becomes a game of hoarding. I don't like getting raided anymore than you do, but honestly, if everyone built one of these, there's a portion of the fun that's gone at that point.
I've never built a suicide base, and I've never used the Storage Box superjump or barricade stacking mechanics. Ergo, I have no vested interest here in either side. IMO, suicide bases are not an exploit - they're clever. They're using intended mechanics in an unintended way -- and isn't that what this whole "emergent gameplay" thing is supposed to be about, per Garry? IMO, Storage Box superjumps and barricade stacking, however, are exploits. They're using unintended mechanics, exploits and bugs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29RzTu06K58 Another example, when they hit the ground on the fall they take damage. At 18 seconds the guy clearly dies from the fall, and on the last jump the guy broke his legs as to why he was crouching upon landing.
Yea let me just post on the forum and tell everybody that I don't take fall damage and admit that I'm a cheater, that's always on my to-do list. I've never taken fall damage from it, I'll record a video and you can shut your damn mouth and stop crying hacks when you're the one who had the cheater playing with you. Maybe it depends what you land on, I don't know, but you don't either so stop accusing people when you're ignorant.
You're gunna just keep riding that pretty hard huh? I admit he cheated, not that I knew at the time. Like I said a million times, he was never on while me and my girlfriend were playing, so I would of never known. He never gave us any items and he barely used any of our supplies so I had no reason to suspect anything. But keep on keepin on I suppose. Fill my tear tankard anymore and I'm gunna have to get another one to fit all you're crying.

And yea I'm sure 2 people got thousands of low quality metal, 32 C4 (even though you claimed 50) and tons of guns with no help from the cheater guy. I was going to test the fall damage but the creative server is down and I don't have a server with large storage crate blueprints to shut you up so you'll have to wait.

We've been on since the server wipe, which is about 3 weeks ago. We play when most people are offline so we have access to basically all resource nodes. It is NOT hard to get that much metal and c4. I have over 400 hours in the game and with your 600 something you should know just as well as me that collecting resources is easy when there's no opposition. I only met him about a week ago.
To get rid of suicide bases they would need to remove SLEEPING BAGS. which is NOT going to happen. Like I said before, there is not 1 way to prevent someone from making a suicide base.
They could only allow you one sleeping bag and a much longer cool down say 20 mins.
They could only allow you one sleeping bag and a much longer cool down say 20 mins.
That would discourage it, but 20 minutes isn't that bad if you're going out for a supply run or something. But I think that would upset people if it was that long.
It would also make people think harder about planning a raid and also raid defence. Being killed actually be a bad thing again. As it stands those with huge stashes can just tool up and leg it out like nothing ever happened. My bag isn't even in my base, I think I play this game all wrong.
There is a blurry line between "emergent game mechanics" and "abusing game mechanics". It is my opinion that suicide bases are abuse.
