http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaNXervexJs have noticed that trees in the distance don't update their lighting unless you move the mouse. timelapsed 3x this small example, had a better spot for recording it but got killed sorry
Yay! I guess this proves there's still the pitch black nights! I almost started panicking already
The water is really bugged. Like really bugged. [Edit] Umm how to get the pics working?
Why they continue to add cosmetic and laggy stuff instead of solving real problems ? ..
Why they continue to add cosmetic and laggy stuff instead of solving real problems ? ..
Which is?
Garry, I know you guys are always working on ways to improve the game. But is there any possible update in the near future that might increase performance so that we can have populated servers without lagging each time a building loads on your screen?
I used to get 60+ FPS on max settings, GTX 660 amd FX-6300 but now it dips from 40-20 and sometimes 15 FPS.

This sky is part of the efforts to increase performance. We're seeing FPS increases pretty much across the board now we've got rid of the old sky. And for some reason the server starts up 10x faster than it did.
I didn't have any issues but I'm also running a top of the line machine. To make things as realistic as possible I think if it's a cloudless night then there 'should not' be pitch darkness. Now if it's overcast and stormy yes only broken by random lightning when stormy. Foggy/Stormy nights should help mask movements and object viability (buildings and the light inside). To make a quick segway I'd like to suggest a potential replacement for the Zombies/Mutant Animals. I think an really cool (and realistic) NPC faction would be roving groups of people who have succumbed to cannibalism to survive.
It's pretty smooth in the dev branch, great job.
FYI you should see a pretty good FPS increase now, I tweaked some stuff that was affecting performance.
Ok, I will test the new dev update to view the difference :) Yeah, I can confirm, more (+/-) 40 fps... Nice work!

Especially the larger buildings.
Will the Lag spikes be fixed in this patch? ( I get them every x seconds, other people get them too )
does the implementation of water mean thirst is also coming soon? :) /
And if thirst is coming, will also need to take a piss come?
For me during the day everything is too shiny like to much specular something I think its called. Makes evrrythibg loom real bright. Too bright. Default settings too
And if thirst is coming, will also need to take a piss come?
You also eat, and my player never done shit so far
You also eat, and my player never done shit so far
he shits himself when he's asleep/ when you're logged off so you don't even see
The new sky looks fantastic, I really enjoy dawn and dusk a lot more. I've never had FPS issues, but it appears that I've gotten about a 20 FPS boost just from the update alone. Here's my specs: GPU: GTX 560 Ti 448 CPU: i7 2600 Display: 1920x1080 (60hz) Definitely enjoying the new sky.
FYI you should see a pretty good FPS increase now, I tweaked some stuff that was affecting performance.
Sometimes it's a bit better but not all the time. Also now there are lag spikes that wasn't there before.
Before, I would get around 30 fps just playing normally and 40 when looking at the ground but now I get 35 normally and 50 when looking at the ground.
I don't agree with this. Not being able to do anything for 2-3mins at a time every night isn't fun. The only people who run outside during those times are people with their gamma turned up and even then it's still too dark to do anything. What I wouldn't mind is an overcast night, that blocks out the moon, and makes it slightly darker. No where in real life do nights become so dark you can't see an inch in front of you, unless you live in a cave.
you should go to the aussie outback when there is no moon
the light (gamma can be a bit exagerrated if full brightness and few clouds) looks very unnatural colors seem washed out. other than that it looks great during all aspects of other parts of the days FPS seems more stable/slightly higher (GTX 680)
my fps is worse. 50fps while looking at the ground, 80fps while looking towards the sea, 30 fps while looking towards everrust also when entering any area with radiation my fps drops every few seconds down to 10 making it difficult to move or defend myself also when i press f1 to open the console, it freezes the game (not the audio) and will pop up 5 seconds later or the game will crash. this didnt happen on the previous update 1920x1080 max graphics settings Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev 4.0 AMD 990FX SB950 AM3+ DDR3 CPU: AMD FX9370 Vishera 4.4/4.7Ghz 8 Core Black Edition 16MB Cache Socket AM3+ Cooling: XSPC RayStorm 750 RS360 Water Cooling Kit GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon HD7970 GHz Vapor-X 3GB GDDR5 RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 weird lines in the sky texture dont know if everyone sees this 30fps looking towards everrust and very bright shiny trees and rocks 50fps looking at ground or straight down at a rock and very bright 100fps looking at the sky 80fps looking towards the sea
Reporting same here. The sky looks damn good. GTX 260 OC Sea - 90 FPS Sky - 70 FPS Land - 50 FPS Everust - 35-40 FPS
okay just found something weird sorry dont know where this is, i turned back on the grass textures (after the console took 20 seconds to load) and saw this "hill" when i respawned it looked sort of see through so i ran into it and was like wtf

I logged out for 14 minutes and when I came back my food level had dropped to 400ish. Anyone else experience that? Also when I logged into the Dev server earlier I had nothing on me and didn't spawn at my sleeping bag in my house.
Just did a small testing run in Next valley (rustmap.net): Game was set to fantastic at startup window. 110-125 fps with grass.on false and grass.displacement false 75-90 fps with grass.on true and grass.displacement true Still experiencing severe stuttering, framerate drops (according to dxtory) of about 50% for half a second followed by the game stopping completely for a fraction of a second. Hardware: Intel 2500k @ 4.4 GHz 8GB RAM AMD HD7950 @ 950MHz core and standard memory clock. Its very hard to determine whether FPS has gone up or down due to the low pop of the devserver and since there's very few big buildings that pulls your fps down. If I was to make a guess from the limited testing, I'd say FPS has gone up by a few % while the game is still looking better.

On max settings, my FPS was 90 looking towards Everust from metal valley. From silk vallery, about 90fps. Looking at the ocean(nothing but water in view)170fps. No performance issues. Actually a huge performance gain over the standard stuff. Only thing I noticed was every 5 seconds the clouds would jitter. Not sure if this was latency related(400ms) or something else. My fps would not dip, it was only the clouds and the grass sprites that jittered. Overall, looks awesome. Hopefully this is in the next update!
