Why cant i give items like Explosive Charges to myself or any one else.. It seems like anything that has a space in its name i cant give to any one...

You need to use quotes in anything that has a space in the name. Also, caps are needed. /give "name" "Explosive Charge" "###"
You need to use quotes in anything that has a space in the name. Also, caps are needed. /give "Explosive Charge" "###"
You mean /give "player name" "item name/id" "amount"
To give your self something use /I "item/id" "amount"
I find it easier to just use the item id, the list of ids come with the mod.
How do I reset the kits cooldown? even when i reload or restart the server the cooldown continues the same that was in the first time i log in!

ok trying to do the /f configurations.... i set default users having the following:
/f join
/f leave
/f list
/f online
/f players
/f info
but it says they do not have permission... i have to add the /f to their permission groups.... however, that defeats the purpose as adding /f give access to all /f commands
how do i give access to default members to the only the /f commands above?
i want to have faction members have all /f commands while default (non-faction members) have access only to the list above.

Clear your kitcooldowns.dat file.

Clear your kitcooldowns.dat file.
if i give /f to default users, they can use the /f build command and while not part of a faction, enter a safezone, turn /f build on and build --- that defeats the purpose of the safezone in my opinion
having /f alone, will give non faction members, the ability to clear safezones, warzones or set them as well. /f in default gives them all the /f commands. and without /f they cant accept an invite to join a faction...
Can you see what you are writing yourself? Could be that you still have it defaulted to "direct" chat? Might have to swap it back over to Global chat "/chan g" or just set global as default in the config file.
This is possible. When I tried to reload config it was missing variables. I'm gonna see if I'm just being a derp.
[editline]20th February 2014[/editline]
Could someone give me their config files? Preferably one that's been relatively untouched?
if i give /f to default users, they can use the /f build command and while not part of a faction, enter a safezone, turn /f build on and build --- that defeats the purpose of the safezone in my opinion

Not true. Only those with permission to /f safezone, /f warzone, and /f build can do things like that. If you give someone only permission to /f, they cannot use the ones mentioned.

incorrect. if i add only /f to default class and leave the rest of /f commands in owner class, and remove myself from the owner class and exit/reenter as player i have all the /f commands
i make the changes. then have another admin do the /reload all - i exit the server and then reenter - the only /f command given to default is /f and i can do /f build on, /f warzone, /f safezone and so on
[editline]20th February 2014[/editline]
so i tried to give
/f join
/f leave
/f list
/f online
/f players
/f info
to default and it says i dont have permission.

see attached screen shot.
you can see my existing cfg file showing /f only in the default (and yes this change was made while server was down and then the server was restarted) and yet i was able to do the /f safezone clearall
Oh snap. I apologize - I was wrong. You can shit on me later for it :P. Just fixed it.
Hey mistad, I have been running essentials, but getting a lot of errors and random restarts. The server gets spammed quite a bit with these errors. I am using fps server. Is there anything you know about with the mod that is causing this... I do not have the log file since I reinstalled everything again.
it was a lot of ulink errors, and wildlife damage somethings..
Sorry I don't have the exact lines man... The server will run for 10 min to 3 hours, and then it kicks everyone, or starts locking up due to server error spamming.

So, do we now have to uninstall, reinstall and do all that jazz to fix it? i am heading to bed, for now i just took all the /f commands away from any non-admin so no big loss there. I will check this tomorrow.

You CAN have Nitrous message me and I could send them the server files from my server, which would fix these issues for you. Personally, where it's so close to the patch coming out, I'd just wait it out for now. Hopefully patch will come out sometime today.

He has fixed this bug, and it is working properly now. There's a few bugs that were fixed in the past few days. It was hard though, as some of the bugs were caused by a messed up Steam installer. So was really hard distinguishing between the two.

He hasn't released the fix for this just yet. He's going to wait until after the update of RUST before doing so. We're still working out the little bugs here and there in Essentials. I've got a full working version on my server if you want to test things out. I'm not going to be on there for the next few hours, but when I am, I can give you Moderator status so you can test out the new Essentials and see if it fixes everything that you were having issues with. I should be back home sometime around 1500 (3pm EST). It's currently 11:15am, so roughly 4 hours?

IF you go into the CONFIG file on Essentials, you will see somewhere that is says "Default Channel:Direct" Essentials was placed on Direct chat by default, so people in game can just do "/chan g" to go into global chat in order to talk to eachother. ALSO, in the Config, you can change where is says "Default Channel: direct" to "Default Channel: global" and then restart the server and you won't have this issue anymore. I had him fix this in the next version of Essentials so that the default channel will be global.
Sorry Mista isn't responding personally, he's extremely busy with life events at the moment, and the few moments he does have, we spend debugging things and trying to get the game/mods as smooth as possible for people. I've taken on the responsibility to come and respond to people, and help with what errors people are having and offering any advice that I can to fix them.
He should be back in full swing sometime next week, but as of right now, he's extremely busy for the next few days. Any questions or concerns, feel free to hit me up, and I will answer them as best as I can.

The only big bugs with Essentials in 1.6.1 are the Loot tables sometimes not loading, and the /f zone permissions messing up.
I don't think that's the problem. My game is refusing to load from the config file itself and I've already tried that. That shouldn't be a problem if the chat command was just set to direct?

So a stupid question, can I get FPS to do that, or what do I do? Just wait on another update on Rust? Sorry, but I am only a 2 month server owner, and an Alpha game should not have been my first, but it is fun, and a learning experience. Oh, and thanks for the fast responses...

The updater that FPS is using is bugged. They would need to take my server files and install them manually. We have tried multiple times of reinstalling via the updater but its bugged every time we do it. Not sure what's causing it. Yes, being an admin is like a 2nd job, and doing it so on an Alpha game makes it much harder, especially a game like rust where Admin are expected to pay for and maintain the server, yet expected not to play. Gets frustrating at times.
Its my daughters birthday. They're inside the mall shopping, and I got to talk my way out of having to go in, hence my fast response times. :-)

Well I really do appreciate it, and yes it is a 2nd job, I play mainly to maintain order in the server, and debug the system, and send reports back to fps on issues.. Its easier for me to see whats going on, when I'm in the server... I haven't made any money at doing this, and don't expect to, but my friends like having the server, so for the price, I will keep it running.... Hopefully I can contribute to making this a great game. I usually work about 10 to 12 hours a day at work, and 5 to 6 hours of rust server a night..

I just put in a straight 32 hours trying to debug Essentials only to find out it was the updater. Yup, takes over a HUGE chunk of your time. *sigh*
