Im trying to figure out my UID and im in game typing /uid and nothing happens any advice?
Im trying to figure out my UID and im in game typing /uid and nothing happens any advice?
Sounds like you need to add /uid under a rank you have permissions to in the commands.ini file, can you confirm that? check the wiki for some guides on how to set all that up: http://rust-essentials.wikia.com/wiki/Permission_Hierarchy
Twerly, can you post your main config files somewhere then link to them here or something? being able to look at the whole thing would be a great deal better than bits and pieces
Post it somewhere? can i not post it here? and if not here then where might i post it?

Even though i have the whitelist disabled, it seems i still have to add people to the whitelist file, but i cant wrap my head around how some people (who are not whitelisted) can join my server, yet others cant (without being whitelisted)... and of course, the loadouts i set do not work, maybe i have to enable something in the cfg.ini? i have changed some of the supply drop options in the cfg and it works, in the sense that each drop is at least 2 planes, and a minimum of 3 crates up to 5 from one plane, but the amounts of items and the probabilities in the supplydropA have no effect

Is there any command pertaining to whitelisting in your actual Server.cfg file? I seem to recall you could also Whitelist against steam groups this way but dont think it was an essentials thing. will be good to confirm that there inst in any case, it will look like this: server.steamgroup "103582791435162721" Probably a stupid question but will ask anyway, assuming after making the changes in your config files that your either restarted the server or did a /reload all in game to reload the config files...? Regarding default_loadout, What you have entered there looks OK spelling and syntax wise, I just checked with some of my players as I at some stage put a bit of cooked chicken in the loadout but never bothered to check whether it worked or not, and it looks like it may not for me either. I'll do some testing on the loadouts tonight to see if I can replicate the issue properly I will keep looking at the files. Update - I tested default loadouts and specifically using yours, after entering them in the default loadout file and restarting my server I got the gear when i spawned. Im not sure why it isn't working for you. do you see any errors in your logs or anything like that?
great job @NexusOne

Restarting didnt change this, so i wiped my server, and reinstalled RE. back to Square one, all is good, but i cant get loadouts to work. after reinstallation, the only thing i changed was to add my name to the owner rank, and to the hotbar on the loadout, Small Rations:5 The only thing in my cfg/server.cfg is; server.hostname " RustEssentials|ShortNights|NoDura|" rcon.password ******** server.pvp true sleepers.on true connection.timeout 2 truth.enforce true in the actual cfg.ini for RE, the steam group whitelisting is set to false. https://www.dropbox.com/s/j8mlumwjlrxmch2/Logs.txt ^^^No log errors The only thing i can think that might be an issue, is that b4 i decided to use RE, i was trying to use the oxide mod, and i installed the Oxide 1.18 update, and there is NO option to uninstall it, even though i certainly do not have the oxide mod itself installed; but then why does just about everything else work? Its beyond me. Guess ill move on. The starter kits work, how would i make a kit that some noob joining could use? because right now, i have to login as admin on the server to use any RE chat commands, im certainly not giving everyone admin....
Strange, i decided to see if i could use a starter kit without logging into admin, and i was able to use that starter, AND the admin kits. i used /time freeze and /god and they work. thought i had to be logged as admin to even use chat commands?

You don't need to be logged into rcon (via console) to your server to make use of them. Essentials checks your UID and gives you access to all the commands in the rank you are in and those below you also. you would need to login to rcon console as admin if you wanted to be able to use the in game rcon console to spawn items in or any of the other rcon-centric commands - they are 2 completely separate entities! It has been so long since I have logged into the in game console - I use Rusty which is the remote admin tool, for player management, teleporting etc then just the in game Essentials commands as well they compliment each other nicely. What you are seeing is inheritance working in your Essentials ranks - you will inherit the commands/kits of ANY rank below you if this is enabled in the config.ini. Hence you have access to the starter kit. Also looks like your ranks are setup properly seeing as when you get in game you have access to all the commands. When your players login they will automaticaly get the default rank unless you have set anyone's UID under a certain rank, and have access to anything you have set for the default rank. **Avoid logging into rcon via the in game console as admin - it isn't needed with Essentials and the extra layer just causes confusion.** As for the Oxide question, not sure if this is what is causing some of your issues. Are there still traces of Oxide lying about? If you browse to the Oxide folder and just delete it outright and make sure there is NO files leftover and no reference to the Oxide mod anywhere, you should be sweet. If there still is I would shut the server down, remove all traces of Oxide and Essentials then re-install only Essentials. In my early days I switched from Rust++ to Essentials and had similar issues - had to do the process above to make sure Essentials was the only mod running - turns out I had not removed ++ properly and it was still conflicting. I have done a complete overhaul of the Essentials Wikia and have added many guides which should help you get things going, check it out, should give you all the info you need to get the server humming: http://wiki.rustessentials.com/index.php?title=Main_Page

Strange that it is showing as installed without an uninstall button. Unsure about portal as well, I've never tried using anything as the portal other than the P250. For Durability, you mentioned you used the remover tool - confirm if the tool you are using is the Remove tool or the Remover tool, both are inherantly different - /remover on is for players and will only work on items you own and only work on pillars, ceilings and foundations, and then only when you hack at it with an Axe or similar. The /Remove tool is the admin one that lets you remove any object regardless of whether its yours or the players. which one are you actually using? Ill have to test this to see if i can replicate the error. As for the other errors, I have received the sharing violation one on occasions, I think it cleared up after a restart. Is the error occuring when the motd runs a cycle or something? "[ERROR] Could not send broadcast to all:" For the remainder, no idea, this would need comment by MistaD but it looks like something to do with *potentially* what has been set for your supply drops as mentioned in your previous posts, as the error references "SupplyDropPlane" or the drop system in general, sorry I cant be more help with this one! UPDATE - Confirmed that setting any or "any" for weapon to use for portal does not work. Set this and tested with a 9 milly, both cases it didn't work after reloading the configs, however P250 continued to work just fine. Decided to add the word Revolver, tested and it works fine, so you have to put the weapon name in rather than specifying any as the keyword! The comments in the file should probably be amended to make what you have to add a bit clearer.

NexusOne On our wiki, I can't really edit it on my phone ATM but if you see this before I do it, we should make a page for the rust essential servers. And people can add their own server to it if they want. I'll join the servers to confirm they are using essentials. If they are not ill ban them from editing the wiki.

At the moment my server gets by with building an arena then adding in an arena kit with anything the fighters need, activated when the event starts, and a warp that sends them to the Arena gates, whatever best suits your needs really. To make sure the Cycles weren't appearing at the same time, i used odd numbers for minutes. Example [Cycle.7m] [Cycle.9m] [Cycle.11m] I made a feature request where you set a number of messages, one on each line. When the set time has elapsed it displays one of those messages. A few announcements: - School is finally over for me. I have roughly two months of time to get some work done, bitches - fuck yea (Excuse my coarse French, I am not very fluent). This means updates will pump out faster after 1.8.0. - "What about the experimental branch/Rust Reboot?" Glad you asked, this is what I'm going to do: when the experimental branch becomes the default branch and I get my hand on the updated server files, I'll get straight to work. The first few updates will be bare bone - this is so I can release things a lot faster to provide a fast server mod/tool. Of course as time progresses, I will slowly redevelop the old features. Here's what I ask of YOU guys: Post a list of 5 things you think I should release FIRST. First - as in RustEssentials v1.0.0 all over again. - I have gotten a ton done, including bug fixes and features that I neglect to tell anyone about. I usually only tell the new features to a random unsuspecting victim who I know won't say anything if they want their throats intact- I mean due to trust. Yea trust. - Door holding. That shit is annoying. I'm adding an option to stop that. Please keep it on or I will cry like a small child if you don't. - I'm working on an Antihack. It's a bit iffy right now so I'm working on stabilizing it before release. I sure hope no one tries to bypass my checks (I'm looking at you HelioS). - I talked (on trello) about having a team to help me (with many things) so what I'm going to do is start a steam group. If you want to be a part of the group for kicks, to help, or for the announcements, you can find the group here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/RustEssentials. - I really apologize for the wait guys, but I promise it's with great reward. Feel free to talk to me on steam. For those of you (like NexusOne and Definite) that are helping out unofficially, add me and/or talk to me on steam. I wan to add you guys on skype and start a skype conversation with a bunch of RustEssentials server owners and helpers.
Ill give u my Skype details when we catch up on steam. For post 'Reboot' release, I reckon the following would be a good foundational start: motds Zones Door Sharing kits In game messaging (as per [Messages] in config.ini)
Sent you my Skype Mistad. I'll join the group now. Also features: MOTD (+cycled messages) Kits Door Sharing TPA Zones (I guess) If you get other features done first I may adjust this list as I believe a virtual economy > zones
