Been struggling with the hang on load since I bought rust a few days back. On a pretty beefy mac pro with a geforce 660ti. I just popped into the render settings as suggested and dialed them down to about half and I was able to login to the first server I tried. Gonna try some different window sizes and quality settings to stress test this solution, but at least it got me onto a server so thanks for the suggestion.
i need help asap. bought the game and idk what the problem is. quality all the way down, no matter what size window, it is veryyy lagy. i have..... mac os x version 10.6.8 3.06ghz intel core 2 duo 4gb 1067mhz ddr3 2gb memory free i hope this is enough info to help ive deleted whatever i can pretty much and yeah idk what to do thankyou in advance
Its best if you drop rendering to nothing.
Here's another issue on Macintosh that is not on PC: http://i.imgur.com/gApVIK9.jpg The MP5 on Mac, the butt-stock gets in your field of view when aiming down the sights. Apparently it happens on Linux as well. [editline]29th December 2013[/editline] Oh, and another one: You cannot command+V to paste, or command+C to copy in the RUST Console. I tried to connect to one of the French servers that are supposedly not being attacked, and I get no error and nothing happens.
First of all, thanks for the help, I manage to go from the "waiting for character" to actually be in game with your tips. Now I seem to have run into an other bug (?), I can move around freely in game but i have no arms, so that i cannot use my rock so no harvesting for me. I'm quite lost as what to do to fix it, any ideas are welcome. here's me configuration 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7 8 Go 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 4000 384 Mo OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
Try BootCamp guys, I know it sucks but if you want to play rust what you gotta do is what you gotta do.
Hi guys I also have a few problems while playing on my Mac. I sometimes get stuck at 'waiting for character' but that seems to be pretty common and is also on the priorities of the to do list I saw. I also have the same problem the person above me (purplevg) explained. I can't see my hands and the number keys are not working for selecting items, so I can't select any item and can't play this game at this moment. Also, when I put net.connect <ip> in the console, I have to do it 2 times. The first time nothing happens, the second time it connects. I just bought the game but haven't been able to play because of these problems, but of course I understand this is still Alpha, so no problem at all! The game looks great so far, keep up the good work guys ;) I'll post my configuration too: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 (Quad Core) 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (also Intel HD Graphics 4000, but games use the NVIDIA) OS X 10.9
Hey mates. Bought the game yesterday and couldnt play, had the same problem. But today with some mods I managed to enter and play. Here's what I did: steam-> rust-> properties-> set launch options and entered this: -nolog -force-feature-level-9-3 and to play I use 1280x720 fastest settings. Its fucked up cuz i have a Imac27", with this resolution i use like half of the screen, but w.e, I can play this way. gl for you guys.
i cant find the set launch options folder. HALP
it's not a folder; he's talking about navigating menus 90% of the time people will use / and \ instead of stupid arrow crap when talking about navigating a filesystem
i cant find the set launch options folder. HALP
Ok, so console commands don't have to be caps locked, you just have to enter them twice or sometimes three times before it "takes"
No problem to join a game or anything, but same problem, no hands so i can't do anything... Help?? :)
Like, when you spawn you have no hands? Even when you hit 1 to equip your rock?
Yes exactly.... So even if i found item in wood storage i can't use them!! :s
That's really weird, I've not experienced that. Sometimes I might not be synched to the server perfectly and when I press 1 for a pick axe or something it doesn't immediately pop up, but after I sync back up it comes out. Sorry I don't have anything for you.
Ok thanks Rizien :) Somebody have an issue please?
Just to help the mac users, the -force-features-9-3 etc.. are targeted at DirectX your version of the game will more thna likely be using OpenGL. Potential issues with OSX: 1: Networking, try turning OSX firewall off, it never has been very UDP friendly. 2: open rust.app and go edit the config.cfg file add grass.on false terrain.aa 0 terrain.idleinterval 0 3: try setting rust.app to 0777 4: turn off window mode.
Can you take a screenshot for the 2° point please because i dont know how to do that? thanks Kurosaru
I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro, the model with dedicated graphics (GT 750M), 16GB ram. I have the same problem as discussed in the OP - the game hangs on the loading screen and then stops responding. Have to force quit at that point. While I bought the game now more to show support than anything else, I really hope OSX (and Linux) stability is of top priority because I wouldn't mind playing around with the game as soon as possible.
Try retarting your machine. I have a Summer 2012 MBP with only 4GB Ram and 512MB video and I couldn't get it to work. Once I restarted and used Fastest setting on Windowed mode, it's worked like a charm ever since. I think the Window mode is the big thing. And I didn't have to mess with entering any of these commands either.
ANy news about the problem with number keys don't working? I currently can not use anything from inventory
Having the same issues changed to windowed and low res, dropped a couple of graphics specs levels. Still loads only to 'loading GUI' or awaiting character, however can hear background noise of birds when this happens. Left it for 2 hours and can still hear birds but no luck. Game looks amazing but really isn't mac ready. [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] It worked for the first time today, I played at night on an emptying server, but froze when I took out my torch...
Intel Core i7 3.4 GHz 8GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024MB OS X 10.8.5 While in the inventory (tab), mouse movement seems to be logged then applied after the menu is closed and the mouse is moved again. To put it another way, if I open my inventory, move the mouse around, then close my inventory, the next time I move my mouse I'll snap to a different and seemingly random direction. This happens in windowed mode or full-screen. Not an urgent problem but I imagine it's something the developers would like to look into at some point if it's a problem for others.
Since the last update im only able to connect sometimes and even if i do get into a server it will randomly freeze at some point, which is not good in rust ;) This is not an ideal solution but until it is fixed i have been playing in bootcamp on windows 8. It works perfectly for me.
i have no idea what the specs are but its a mac mini. if you turn the graphics down it never freezes
I can confirm the direction changing when you tab out of inventory, though esc seems to do the same for me without the direction change.
Make sure to hit apply when changing the res specs down in rust options. It doesn't save otherwise
How about simply install windows as a second system at least?
Can't you make it work using boot camp or VMware fusion?
I'm using a hackintosh I built so I don't expect everything to run perfectly, nor would I request it to. My only concern, is that I have to enter rcon commands twice quite often. I'm not sure if it's the window size since I scale down or if it's simply a mac thing. It's just awkward :<
