Just imagine how much frustration you all could have avoided if you'd just nutted up and got your own server running instead of coming and spamming the shit out of the forums for a week demanding that the devs stop working on the game so they can come and tell you what is happening with ONE server.
Community servers being DDOS'd is unfortunately nothing new, welcome to the Internet where immature kids pingflood to compensate for their lack of pubic hair. You just deal with it. The BR community of Sao Paulo 1/2 seem to rather prefer to whine and threaten to quit instead of taking the logical and responsible solution.
Yeah, it's fair to ask what happened to the server. But you are also not guaranteed or owed an answer, and the last week has been a group of you failing to understand that.

Easy for you to say it, since you can choose between 15-20 official servers, and millions of others with 50-120ms AND with people of your language. But no, DO NOT complain when the ONLY SOUTH AMERICAN server that gets 200 out of 200 gets ddosed every single day, since of course, you can always choose another server!. Oh wait, there's two servers to choose (and those don't get past the 90 players in the first days, and a few days later they are empty since the raided players leave, leaving the servers with 30-40 players and forcing them to wipe every week).
So what can we do? Play an FPS game with 220-260ms with people that we don't share a language with, play a server that lasts two days (explained above, and has admin abuse) or complain in the forums. Yeah, easy for you to say we don't understand, lol, especially when the only thing they need to do is host the servers (yes, the Hapis, the normal map, and small map are hosted in the same datacenter) in the Battle Royale datacenter, since they NEVER went down since they were implemented.

Sounds like the South American Rust community needs to get it together and organize themselves. All I'm hearing is complaining and "well, YOU have it easy but". I'm not talking about me, this thread isn't about me, I'm talking about South American servers.
Or you could just continue to beg garry for attention like he's your mom. That's also an option.
I never said you don't understand. I said you're lazy whiners who want everything done for you instead of hosting servers and running them the way you want them run.

I was going to make a long post explaining everything, but it's obvious you are just a troll looking for reactions, as seen in your second quote, knowing it's obvious i was just making an exaggeration. Whatever, you don't know how lucky you are to be born in North America. This is something we have to suffer in a lot of games, (like MMORPGS) where we have to endure 220ms, but now that they gave us an opportunity to play fair, it's taken from us and we don't get any response.

yeah!! facepunch pls give us an answer ...
I'm not here to troll. The only explanation I would be interested in hearing is why you guys can't host your own servers. And "because we might get DDOSed" isn't an excuse because that's the risk any Rust server admin takes anywhere in the world, and that goes for almost any game with community-hosted servers.
If it's incredibly difficult and expensive to get server hosting in South America, that's an explanation I would like to hear because I'll admit that I don't know anything about the hosting situation there. If you're going to just repeat how you get bad ping everywhere except for the servers Facepunch provide for you (which are down), that's not an excuse, it's whining.

One, it's incredibly expensive ($2500 ARS for a 100 slots server, around 166 USD), second, even if I could afford it, no one guarantees me that my server will get populated, third, I don't know anything about administrating a server, and last, even If all the conditions applied, until official south americans servers appeared, there was not a SINGLE SERVER that didn't die within the first week, and that won't change even if by a miracle we could convince everyone in south america to join "my" server, and I don't know the exact reason as of why it happened, but I suspect it's because of the constant renewal of players that doesn't happen at all in community servers. That's mostly it, the server didn't lag (at the start), there was no admin abuse, there were almost no cheaters (as a matter of fact, one advantage we have by playing in SA servers is that there aren't many cheaters since private cheats are really expensive for us, and this applies in other popular games like CS:GO), a constant renewal of players, a decent sized hardcore community, NO BIG CLANS (other important issue, we don't have big clans like in RUSTOPIA or Rustafied, clans are at most composed of 8 players) and thanks to this, a lot of friends that had stopped playing due to no good servers left, came back (and left again this wipe cycle). I hope this sums up why we want Facepunch Sao Paulo again.
One, it's incredibly expensive ($2500 ARS for a 100 slots server, around 166 USD)
Okay, if you're not lying about the price, that sucks, right there. No matter what else I've said about hosting your own, that's a lot of money for a monthly server bill.
Although I wonder if SAm players could make enough noise that someone migt start competing and offering better prices. I hope so, in the long run, because that's a bit. However, if a server was good enough, it could probably collect enough donations to offset most of the cost. Taking donations can be a tricky thing because some server owners (in various games) have used donations as personal profit, taking in much more than the cost of the server hosting and pocketing the difference for themselves, so there's a lot of distrust about donations. However, I would suggest that you would probably do okay with donations as long as you did two things:
1. Be transparent and open about how much has been collected every month. Once the server bill has been paid for for the next month, people should know that so they don't keep donating to try and "make sure" the bill gets paid..and then later find out that they paid more than was necessary and could have lost their money. Since the point is to just pay for the server bill, it's okay if people don't donate more than that in a month, as long as the bill gets covered every month.
2. Do not provide any in-game benefits to donators that impact gameplay (like bonus resources). At most, give donators coloured chat and a custom title before their name so that their status as a donator and supporter of the server is shown when they talk, or something like that. This way, donations aren't a way to pay2win, they just help keep the server alive. People won't feel that they have to donate or else they'll be at a disadvantage; hopefully they will feel more comfortable about donating to the server by knowing that donators DON'T get unfair avantages and the server is a place where people play fairly.
Hopefully that could work out for you guys.
second, even if I could afford it, no one guarantees me that my server will get populated
This one is your problem, and it all comes down to how well the server is run and maintained, and if you've set good rules or not.
third, I don't know anything about administrating a server
You know nothing about server administration but here you have decided that you know the answer as to why servers died. Hmm.

So, you want servers that are run properly.
I am confident that "competent server administration" is not a skill only available to people from the northern hemisphere. I know that people in South America can be very clever and resourceful and they are just as capable as people from anywhere else. I'm sure it can be done. The hosting cost is high, though, I agree with you there.
All you kids bitching about unstable servers when really they are being attacked and it has nothing to do with rust or how stable the gsme is.

What the fuck, i don't want to host a server, it's too much trouble for playing a fucking videogame. I just want one (ONE) single server to work properly, as i explained to you numerous times, we can't choose 20 official servers like americans (or canadians for that effect). Also, I never asked for an administrator, since the official server doesn't have an admin and runs just fine (gamewise). Again, easy to say we are just whining, when the solutions you propose are beyond stupid, or take way too much effort to actually enjoy the game.
All you kids bitching about unstable servers when really they are being attacked and it has nothing to do with rust or how stable the gsme is.
Pretty much everyone is saying it's being ddosed, that's why we are asking for a solution.
There we go. "I want other people to solve my problem for me. Screw taking responsibility, I want it all handed to me."
Thank you for cutting through the bullshit and getting to the point.
And, I don't know what you expect to do about a DDOS except for wait for them to stop. Giving the DDOsers attention doesn't make them stop, that's what they want.
I used to run game severs, without spending a great deal of money these services are not something that can just be tossed on to stop attacks, it's not like a website that you can rerout traffic. Without specialized equipment installed, you have to sit there and block offending IP addresses, and your talking about thousands of ips across many many severs. It's not a small fix and even with a team of guys can take days. Be upset with the attackers, not facepunch I promise they are more frustrated then you are.
Alguém que tenha twitter aí, poderia mandar o link deste fórum para o Leigh Holmes? O Garry Newman falou para incomodar esse cara hehehe.

Ou conversar com ele, porque acho que ele é o cara que pode dar alguma informação. Ele

There we go, it's another "I don't know anything about the struggle in the south american gaming scene, but i'll talk about it anyways". It's like you are just trying to find a reaction on me (and you are doing it), holy shit. Believe it or not, we paid for this game, so why shouldn't we feel entitled to a single server that works properly? As I said numerous times, you have enough servers to switch, and what you said about we don't try enough is so fucking stupid. IT'S NOT POSSIBLE. WE DON'T HAVE THE LUCK OF SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE SO THE COMMUNITIES ARE DIVIDED. BRASIL HAS THE LARGEST PLAYERBASE BUT SPEAKS A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE, WHILE CHILE AND ARGENTINA (the two other countries with a decent playerbase) SO WE HAVE DIFFERENT SERVERS, BUT THE COMMUNITIES UNITED BECAUSE THE SERVER WAS OFFICIAL, SO THERE'S NO WAY A COMMUNITY SERVER WILL HAVE 200 OUT OF 200 BY THE THIRD WEEK OF THE WIPE. Okay, you wanted a solution, i tell you this, facepunch gives the official title to the most popular south american server (either PandoraRust <which has admin abuse> or BRevolution, both have around 90-110 players in the first days), but we all know that won't happen, since apparently Facepunch doesn't give a shit. That's how our community works, we see the official title and we join. As I said earlier, we never had a server with so many people, and now the rust community in SA stagnated, since most people stopped playing after San Pablo stopped working.
Easy for you to say it, since you can choose between 15-20 official servers, and millions of others with 50-120ms AND with people of your language. You act as if your the only players that deal with his shit.
i'm sorry facepunch hasn't fixed your lack of servers in south america. it's almost like having more servers than the official ones is a community issue, not a facepunch issue.
Brazil does not have enough infrastructure to withstand DDoS attacks
Just it.

And what's exactly your point? Because I don't see any post asking for more servers. We just want them to fix the only one we got.
And what's exactly your point? Because I don't see any post asking for more servers. We just want them to fix the only one we got.
Yeaah!!
:speechless:
i really don't want to start banging my head against walls again.
official servers typically suck; this is the same in every country, not just SA. if you want a stable experience, use a community server. if there isn't a community server, that's your real problem.
All that elixwhitetail said is complete and absolute bullsht....
I really dont know why people even respond someone that clearly has nothing to add.
We payed for the game and therefore, we are customers.
Businesses have the obligation to treat there customers with attention and respect because they are the ones paying for everything to run well including employee's salary.
We here in Brasil are currently facing the situation where all our servers are down for a little over 3 weeks now and we have absolutly no response from facepunch studios.
All we are asking is for a little bit of attention and information regarding whats going on with our servers, and if there will be a solution anytime soon.
Right now the devs are at GDC so even if they wanted to answer they're not in the office.
That has nothing to do with you guys being in Brazil and has everything to do with garry taking the staff to GDC.

That would make sense if it wasn´t for the fact that the servers are going down since the beginning of March. Stop trolling.
That would make sense if it wasn´t for the fact that the servers are going down since the beginning of March. Stop trolling.
"Right now" is the key part of that post. I didn't say "All month".
lmao don't call it trolling just because someone isn't on your side.
elixwhitetail im just not going to compete with you, your trolling lvl is just way to high (over 9000 probably...)
so I just wanna say that I dont agree with the way facepunch is taking care of there customers.. I know the game is new and expanding and in early acess and all that... but the thing is... they have sold quite alot of the game already. They should be using it to expand the dev team, incresing the quality of there customer support, making there servers more stable and what not. It just seems they are not taking this too seriously...
So yeah I think the least they could do is give some info and not have all there servers down for over a month...
While that doesnt happen, sure elixwhitetail, ima take ur advice... how the fk do i create my own server?
Lol he is not trolling you. Your trolling yourself
