I logged into the Rustafied Dev branch but I looked the same and so did the other nakeds. Am I missing something? I want to see the diversity. :(
not a fan of it not being a choice - if there is one thing I wanted to see mreo of it's the ability to make personal choices regarding yoru outward appearance. sadly after 4000+ hours in legacy I just dont think the new rust is for me, but i definitely got my moneys worth.
Can you please elaborate on why you feel choice is important?
I can tell you many reasons why lack of choice fits Rust, but why not start a dialog about how you feel?

I think the hilarity that will come from this is 100% worth not being able to pick what we want to play as
I dunno, if you ask me this is a strange addition. It feels like this could be a very good social experiment, as what color of skin may affect how some players react to you.
This is an incredible addition to an online game. Not so much the random factor, since other games let you randomize by choice, but tying it to your steamid and not letting players choose. Wow, so cool. Can't wait to see this evolve even more.

Also, this calls back to the whole idea that certain people with identity issues are going to have a field day with this and Garry's comments of "you are born who you are" stance on it. While I personally agree, in a world where there's plastic surgery and sex change operations, expect some people to try to lock horns with Garry.
And while I do like the idea of gender, I honestly think that right now, it would only divide opinions more, especially if it was forced.
In short, I'm excited for the update, and even more excited to see people whine about it.

It's weird, but last night I switched over to the dev branch to try this out. After it updated and I loaded the game I saw all the regular servers. Oh well I though, something went wrong, so I jumped on the official Seattle server.
The game loaded, and I was there sleeping in armored room. When I woke up and hit tab I saw that I was strapping young black man with an un-stereotypically small penis. I looked outside and saw naked men of various hues running around.
However, my neighbor said I was white. Is the dev branch somehow letting me cross over into the main branch and see the changes? Very odd.
I'll have to just make a bunch of alternate accounts until I am the color that looks best on me. I'm ok with this as long as being a pasty white Newman makes you susceptible to sun burns.

character variations are made client side using steam ID so those not on dev client will still see all white newmen but you have dev client which uses the steamID of the other players (which is already sent to the client from the server) to create the character model for you to see.
would the words Newgro and Newsian be inappropriate?
