Oh god I screwed up one of my "their's" Nobody cares but the dumb ass grammar nazi who has nothing better to do.
If Arsonide is grammar nazi, then what are you? Grammar jew?
My guess is the dev team is still working on long term vision. They are at a point where their game can go a million different directions. Instead of being idle they are taking care of visual elements and improving current gameplay while still rounding out which of the million different directions they have to choose from. I find nothing wrong with that. If you're bored with the game set it down for a few weeks or a month and come back. ALPHA means a lot here.
Facebook - addict. Kill it with fire. Burn. :v:
Lol, man, who's addicted to facebook 4 sure it's not me :D Never loved idea of socials network without any point. I don't have even tweeter/instagram and other shit. And may be 50 friends in facebook, just to upload photos of my MTB rides. So stop trolling me ;) But if i want something, yes, i am addicted. Recently it was Cubase :D
1. this is kind the 4th thread with the same shit you post? 2. funny how you dumb down everyone, who doesnt flame like you! 3. if you already can't read what they're doing in trello, why should they even write more? 4. why should the devs spend time to manage a site with all their info? hell im happy to have the trello sites, it already gives me more than enough info! 5. if you are so unhappy, start modeling, start coding, write down whole concepts! get your own ass up, instead of swinging the whip on others! 6. this alpha isn't created to be played for hours like a full released game, you tested the current content? play something else, or work actively in the forums! they released it to have feedback on the stuff they've done, not flaming about something they're working on!
At least he puts some effort into his posts.
Because I used the wrong "there" one time? So was this was me, not putting in any effort into my posts? "I don't think people seem to understand they started reading the book before it was finished. They have written not even half the book, you caught up to where they are at and now you're waiting for them to write more. Every little bit they write isn't enough for you because you want more, more more. If they did little patches every week, that wouldn't be good enough because not enough content is coming in at once and the few little new things you get every week or two weeks get old and boring. If they did one huge content update every few months you'd still get upset you had to wait so long. Just think of it as a book and they are the authors. This is their first book they have written from scratch and they allowed people to start reading it way before it was even close to being done. Be patient. This isn't a billion dollar company developing a game here." Instead of nit picking peoples spelling and grammar why don't you just respond if you can understand it or ignore it if you can't. When you just decide to call someone out on their spelling or grammar it just looks like you have nothing to contribute or dispute what they said. Somehow this results in myself not putting any effort in? What ever you say guys.
I want to punch you in the face.
"welcome to facepunch forum"
Steph-Rust and those agreeing with him in this thread, Clearly you have never worked in the software development industry so I will explain a few things to you that I hope make this easier for you. 1) Its never a fast process. Writing efficient, relatively bug free code takes a large amount of time and effort. Major pieces of code never work perfectly the first time, so there is always time spent trying to figure out why it's not working and how to fix it. 2) This is not a giant developer making this game, they are a smaller group that is very selective of who they hire and as such things can only go as quickly as their staff allows. 3) The people doing the coding and the piece creating the graphic models are rarely the same people and as such have completely different timelines. Since coding takes a bit longer in the beginning because learning(this case)/writing the main engines is often time consuming, the art team get a lot of time to design for the future, but these early designs are usually not widely spread to avoid people making assumptions about where the game is going. 4) The entire team wants to make this game their own. So while they can use the engines built in models the much prefer to make their own so that the graphics have their own flavor. Making their own in no way slows down the development of other features. 5) When your feature planning software (Trello in this case) is public, not everything is made viewable to the masses. This is because of number 6. 6) In Alpha you try things and not all of them will work. Some you will decide quickly and your testers never even see them. Some take a bit longer and your testers try them and come back and say they are no good. So the patches you and I see will often lack a couple of things they tried and decided against. Hope these things have enlightened you slightly to the software development process, so that you can understand why things are as they are and are unlikely to change for at least 6 more months.
Thanks, gaspara112, informative, but i know some languages like php and sql, so you shouldn't explain it to me. I know isn't the same thing as game development, but the point of thread is another side. Nevermind :) I am still playing, still waiting for good updates and still support the developers, hope for them to success. Just tried to tell another opinion, may be different from most players here on facepunch. That's all, so don't panic :)

I'm currently playing Banished. One guy made it in just a year or something. Whereas EA would require hundreds of people, and hundreds of millions dollars to make the same thing. I even play around with game development using different engines myself and can't for the life of me see why it would take hundreds of people and so much money and time for some of the titles out there. Something isn't right somewhere in the industry. Ans it's just common sense that if earning money is the incentive for making a game, getting that incentive up front means they have less incentive to work on the game. I'm beginning to notice this problem among kickstarts and early access titles. They launch and everyone is amazed at what will be, then they just stagnate for years with small updates. Game dev already has millions and customers are content to wait however long it takes, so what's the hurry to finish?
I will never understand why people think that doubling the size of the dev team and slapping a bunch of money on a counter somewhere will suddenly give us all instant gameplay updates. And why should the artists be working on gameplay elements? I'd rather they work on creating their own art and putting their own feel on the game rather than just buying asset packs and using the exact models that other games have. And Steph-Rust, you say you know php and sql (which are both rather simple languages) which is all well and good but is NOTHING compared to C#. I don't know it either but I'm not going to act like it's even remotely similar. EDIT: Unity actually uses C#, so I changed it... still pertinent. Just let the devs do what they're going to do and stop trying to tell them how to do it. Garry knows what he's doing and so does the rest of the dev team. Besides, we've been getting patches like once every week or two... I'd say that's pretty fucking sweet!
By the way, from what I understand, the new sky's purpose is mainly to reduce FPS issues. So ye, it might look like it is something "useless", but I bet it will be very useful to many people. And yes, it also looks cool. I see a similar issue with the water. It might look useless now, but they are fixing it so we will be able to swim in the future. Maybe even build boats and travel to islands? I think the new water is the first step for all this. I am also hungry for new content, but if you really think about it, we will get there.
Play something else until they update, there is a huge industry of games you can spend time on.
AimJunkies Rust Hacks 2014 AimJunkies Rust Hacks – A non-detectable set of customizable hacks for the game Rust! (If you have any concerns about detectability check the section about Vac and CheatPunch.) Get Here -----> https://sellfy.com/p/RY3L/ Example Images: http://oi61.tinypic.com/286sivl.jpg http://oi58.tinypic.com/10d73a9.jpg http://oi58.tinypic.com/21276ub.jpg Video Presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogp-5Y8Ei10 Features: -ESP ( Wall hacks ) This is done in several ways, you can have a red circle marking all people in your render distance or your can set a distance yourself. The second option is having the players be outlined in a white line in your render distance. The third option is to have the player’s names appear above their head in your render distance. Notes: It now works with crates and animals which can be enabled in the menu. - Night Vision Tired of the pitch black? Lighten up! With this amazing night vision you will able to see everything in the dead of night. Just press Control + N. Note: The sky will be slightly distorted because your video settings are being adjusted. - Game Time Clock For those who are bad at gauging time, a 24 hour dial clock was added. There will be a digital in game clock located at the lower right of your screen that can be enabled. The clock will tell you what time it is in the game. - Cross-hair Choose from over 22 different cross hairs, there is one for everyone. If there isn’t one you love then email us a picture and we will add it to the next update given we like it. - Aim Bot Set a pixel radius around the middle of your screen that will lock on to a player once they enter. The radius is adjustable to size and pull strength. You choose whether to lock on the player’s body or head. The reason why you would want it on body and not the head is because the shotguns are not precise. - NoClip Be able to fly through the world through player built walls, mountains, and the ground. You can also grab air drops before they even touch the ground. - God Mode Be able to disable all damage. After enabling godmode you will take no damage from the environment, players, or hunger/thirst. However, you can still type the suicide command in console if you wish. - Speed Adjustment Be able to adjust the speed your character walks and runs at. This will also work with noclipping speed. - VAC and CheatPunch Detection Checker Afraid of getting banned? Don’t be, there is no internal injection to the client so there is nothing VAC can capture. As an extra precaution we added a checker that verifies on startup that your current version hasn’t been detected yet. This checker is real-time and checks every time you launch Rust. Recently CheatPunch has been added to the anti-hack systems of Rust. Luckily our software is already capable of bypassing this. If our software is ever detectable the software will automatically disable itself before you join a server. This prevents you from being banned regardless if it is detectable or not. If our software does become detectable (which it never has) we will update it within a day. - Simple and Stylish Menu All the settings are changed through your menu that is accessed by pressing F1 to go into your inventory in game then by pressing control + B. - Updated Often You get updates for as long as we support this project ( a long time ) . Your client will notify you in time of an update and you will receive an email. =========================================================================== Change logs ========================================================================= - Modern warfare cross hair added ( request rugak4 ) - Added outline option for ESP - Clock ( request Th31ast0ne ) - Made menu a little less junky looking - Added all the cross hairs in black to options - Added modifiable Speed hack speed ( request nickybono ) =========================================================================== To do =========================================================================== -make colors of compass and clock customizable -make the clock look better -add names and distance to esp player boxes -make esp detect guns that players are holding -minimap -ingame map *working on this one next -add esp boxing customization colors ( request Damo Dam ) =========================================================================== Contact: If you have any questions feel free to email us at aimjunkiessoftware@gmail.com.
Both the OP and Devs deserve the benefit of doubt. Like the OP ... Rust now bores me to tears, but here I am looking for something new to rejuvenate my interest in the game. Yes, it's in Alpha ... but I have yet to see anything from Facepunch that addresses ongoing-post-release-content/improvements. Without something fresh, a sandbox becomes just another sandbox (aka: a toilet for cats). Without some plan for future content Rust faces the risk of being DOA.

(There were actually two when I posted the picture, he edited one shortly after the post was made.) I left the picture up for posterity, but I didn't think it'd be such a big issue.

Here's a suggestion of something to do while you wait for new content to be released: Learn English.
Here's the deal you got early access to a game, that is still in development. I'll liken this to buying concert tickets and then getting the fast pass, so you don't have to stand in line. You get early access to the venue and you can get good access to the stage. (These are general admission venues) This however doesn't allow you backstage or on the stage or doesn't allow you to have a say in the set list. Now if the band chooses to come out and greet you early, then hey it's a plus. Maybe even a photo op! So now come back to reality and realize they are not developing this game for you or by your guidelines or timeline for that matter. If it is such a bad thing stop playing it, go out in the real world a get a hobby. Eventually it'll go to beta and then you can come back and give all the input your little heart desires and maybe, just maybe they'll even use your idea.... This time is for developers to get the frame work in place and then fill it with content. Moral of the story is enjoy the show, there are always seats in the back.
Banished started development in 2011 by the way
I'm not sure why people are even comparing Banished... They're two entirely different things, Banished runs almost entirely off of math. That's the game, balancing numbers. (I love Banished) It's like comparing apples to airplanes.
I agree and disagree, while from a development standpoint, I think features should be implemented during Alpha stage, and bug-fixes should be the focus in Beta stage, the two have become mixed. I am certain there is quite a bit that we are unaware of and certainly appreciate optimization. I just think people are so focused on defining the stages of development that they forget nothing is concrete. I do whole-heartedly agree that this game needs more features, and more content, but satisfying millions of people that have already paid for a game while having severe performance issues really twists the development in several directions. But then again "Early-Release" games are a trend that I am not a fan of. Purchase the game, give money upfront for an unfinished product and then by the time it is released, the "spark" of the game is gone. But hey, we enjoy the game, I enjoy the struggle and grind at times. It is a game that has a variety of playstyles, but in the end results in stagnant gameplay. Endgame is difficult to produce in a game like Rust, just because of the genre it satisfies.
...tell, that they are just waiting for new features, new content. I'm playing about month, got my own server and it's really boring without new staff in games. Couple of updates in a month that don't give you nothing new! Just a little fixes, that no body worrying about. And believe me, that in a good controlled server cheaters it's not a number 1 priority. Some anti cheat systems can only bring more problems in game stability. Give us some good news please, release patches with something interesting to test for, please! P.s. - and stop talking about the hard process, and cheaters problem, and what ever else! I think in 1 million sales, developers can hire professional developers for continuous work. P.p.s - also providing for players a game editor will let us enjoy it even more, by creating mods and much more. And please, be transparent for us daily. Create a blog of your everyday work, like a developers diary or something like that. Even if it doesn't apply to the game. Share your life events :words:
are you seriously telling them to tell you what they plan? https://trello.com/b/lG8jtz6v/rust :v: [editline]23rd February 2014[/editline] also, they are professionals and seeking out to hire people there are about 16 people working on it it's an alpha game, "yeah I understand", no you don't :v: [editline]23rd February 2014[/editline] I just love how people think that you can just up and hire some professional developer out of thin air and instantly that person will be briefed on the work and then pump massive updates out. You can't go to DevSmart and buy a new game developer to work with you. You have to seek them out and let them come to you. Most won't even give a shit about Rust, they'll be working on their own projects... like Garry is.
P.p.s - also providing for players a game editor will let us enjoy it even more, by creating mods and much more.
Game editor? that's literally impossible in its current state, and is just completely silly and an unneeded extra thing they'll have to make which doesn't add to the game itself. This is something that would need to be done after release.
Ow, people stop swearing :) All good, just a discussion. Kowalski, what kind of those updates are? Removing zombies, developing some new anticheat system and how Wubbzz told skies and stones? Now are red bears and wolfs dropping loot? lol! Stewie.D I'm agree with you, that I was warned about alpha. But at least do something, because you know that people are playing that alpha, just don't forget about "playability" developing. One developers is responsible for anti cheat developing, another for textures change etc... and just some one for game play - that's all. Just listen to people suggestion, choose something good and at least approve it, show us a news, about game future, what we will see in next week, next month etc... Arsonide, what are you talking about? Spy? Germany? Books? Sorry, but you in wrong thread.
that's called a "Placeholder" if you didn't know that then there's no chance you actually know what you're talking about with everything else.
