Are you guys forgetting about the new durability system? Some of you want these military weapons to be extremely hard to obtain, yet with these new updates your only gonna get to use them on a few runs before they become useless(if you can survive that long). I mean you already lose all your stuff when you die, do we really need to "lose" our stuff when we do well (aka done die)? This durability makes it so even doing well at the game means your gonna lose your stuff...
Edit: I like the durability idea and even that the items degrade quickly is okay with me, whats not okay is that you only get to repair items 2-3 times before it becomes more cost efficient to craft a new item than to repair the old one. I want the max durability to decay just not at this rate, its too much.
I'm all for guns. Yep, more "survival" guns are good, but seeing as this game is sort of post-apocalyptic, and the fact that what makes it great is war-style guns, does make me say that I want to see similar types of guns in the game.
Alright, I can see why people don't want a COD style game. But the fact that rust is a guns + Survival game is what makes it SO GOOD. That's why it sells. There are many other survival games, but not many have guns. Agreed, it seems a little out of place to have an M4 or an P250 in a survival game, but the general concept of guns is great. And by that I mean automatic guns too. I'm sorry, but loading a flintlock musket with a shot and a bag of gunpowder is not my concept of a great game.
And for those who say rust would be great without guns, go to any other survival game. Rust is very realistic with guns - more so than many War game. The aiming and recoil is amazingly realistic.
And yes, I realize, Garry is God, and yes, to say anything else would be fooling ourselves into a position of power. We're here for the ride, not the driving, and an odd opinion or too along the way may change the direction a little, but not massively. I do trust Garry's team to make something great out of Rust, but to change weapons could ruin the game.
Make modern guns obtainable from loot boxes, but not crafted. Keep guns, just remove blueprints for them.

This is what i'm talking about... do you really want your extremely rare drop to be useless after after a few runs? you might never see another m4 at that rate...
any thoughts from people who are actually considering the new durability system?

"Extremely rare drop"? Since when is an M4 rare in any sense of the word? And who said they'd be super rare? It would certainly make people think twice about bringing their M4 with them on a resource run.
A bolt-action would make more sense, but even then it seems reasonable that you'd lose it eventually, why should someone get to keep their super strong weapons all the time?

Ummm, how many m4 drops do you get a day? (We are talking box drops here, I am directly talking about people who think m4's should not be craftable and only obtained from box drops). From my experience m4 drops only come around every day or so if your doing a LOT of rad runs.
From my previous post: I want durability, i want to items to break quickly (this prevents people from using 50 large med kits to keep a battle going for an hour, as their shit will surely break). Whats a little worry sum to me is the rate at witch the max durability is diminishing. That "rare" (I guess its my opinion that they are rare drops) item is not gonna last very long even if you do well in the game and done die.
These threads are an example of why game design is best left to professionals.

I think it's perfectly fine that they'll be rare, I think that's the whole point. Yea, it'll break eventually but you can get something like over 1000 rounds fired on an M4 before it breaks beyond repair and that's with the durability rate set to the default (which is rather high). It all seems pretty reasonable to me. You just won't be able to use an M4 all the time like you could before.
Can anyone direct me to where, exactly, the devs have said they're going to remove/replace/reduce the frequency of military grade weapons?
I've heard a lot of different things from a lot of different people who all talk like they have proof of anything. Haven't seen a source.
