Because I'd like the game to succeed.
How does telling a new player that their opinion is wrong and invalid help the game succeed? The devs don't need you to run interference for them and prevent discussion of ideas you don't like. They can decide what's best for the game on their own.
All you did is come in and shit negativity on the thread. Point to me where you were at all helpful.
As a matter of first importance, you got tied up with an unfinished alpha that is, no doubt earnestly chipped away at. There's not a lot to do on the grounds that the diversion's in its initial stages.
Rust is a diversion about player freedsom, and you're going to need to discover companions and evaluate in the event that you can believe them. You let that irregular fellow go along with you and believed him, and you endured the cost.
Hide around here and make companions.
nothing wrong with the game, the only thing i have a problem with is the players.
the game is perfect
Facepunch/Rust can not control the actions of players. It is called human nature.
Rust is a harsh world, push on you'll get there. I played as lone wolf for months. Now I have real nice group. I'd liked the lone wolving but it's extra hard. Now with a group it completely changed the game. Where going out nights raiding with 10 man on TS. It's a blast.
This thread...
@OP, I would also recommend trying to get a group, preferably friends. I started playing this game with 2 of my friends and in the past few months we have grown into group of 15 with 8 - 10 active members daily.
Our server has quite a few large clans on it and pretty much the clans raid each other, trying to see who is the best. It is a different game at that level.
I know some people actually do play solo but I can't picture myself doing it. I will have no motivation to play.
Sure, but that doesn't mean your opinion gets to be valuable or valid.
and at this point neither is yours. you're responding basically to insult and ridicule him for making a thread and asking questions.
this is his problem with the game right there. assholes.
unfortunately, this is the internet, so i don't see it changing anytime soon.
edit: i see elix already got to you on this issue. next time ill read further.
Play with people. Get some friends, if you dont have any. Join a group.
Cant join a group? play with someone and make seperate rooms.
This is a common misconception, and I don't understand why people think this is true. Opinions are not all equal. In fact, many opinions are absurd, such as yours--that this game is perfect--and should be rejected as such. Opinions can also be irrational, psychotic, homicidal, delusional, and just flat out false. So please, spare me this respect all opinions nonsense. When you take the time to critically formulate a well reasoned opinion, then you can expect some respect for that opinion.
I've stopped educating the internet, because 9.9 times out of 10 the person being educated is recalcitrant in their ignorance. However, I still correct people. You're wrong. His opinion is perfectly logical. He enjoys the game as is, and not so much the community. I agree with your opinion though by the way. The game is unfinished and stale.

Same about the solo part, it's just not fun and I can't find any motivation. About finding friends, no one of my friends play this game, and I've tried making friends on server, but everyone has their own base, with friends and don't need another mouth too feed.

Tried that with some guys, but no one even want too do that.
This forum has all the hospitality and charm of the Call of Duty board of old. And that's not a good thing.
What is it with some of you guys?? I'm a Moderator on another (music) forum and personally, if this were my ship, I'd be throwing many of you overboard for trolling and general douche-baggery.
Just chill the hell out. We're debating a video game, not the political situation in Gaza. There's just no need for such levels of aggression.
I do wonder whether some of us here are being affected by what happens in-game, with frustrations spilling over into these threads.
When you're dead, nobody will remember you for playing video games. Get some damned perspective and show some civility.

I enjoyed solo gameplay for a long time because, not having internet growing up, I was stuck playing single player games so I was used to being on my own. But recently I made a few friends while playing, totally changes the experience. Playing with others is, at least for me, the way the game should be played. The interactions are impossible to manufacture by any game company, they're what make the game unique. Good luck to OP, I hope you find some buddies to play with.
I bought Rust and I don't think I'm going to play it anymore until it's come a long way, but I do look forward to the "finished" product. Even in the few days that I played I went from hating the game, to really enjoying it, to only kinda liking it, to loving it, to hating it, etc. It really just depends on the people that are on when you are.
Mind you, yeah, like people have said, there's not a lot of content because it's in Alpha, and that's partly what I'm not going to play it for a while.
Unfortunately the problems of humans being humans are always going to exist but that's why I love/hate the game. I've met some really cool people, and then I've had sessions where all people did was KoS. So it goes.
As for opinions that matter more than others, obviously it's mine that matters most because I am new.
Once you've racked up some hours and learnt to craft and build defendable structures, you will learn that the best thing you can do to enjoy the game, is to actually team up with other players.
Once you get some sort of external voice comms going (Ventrilo, Mumble, Skype, etc...) that you can coordinate team efforts over voice, and make allies with neighbouring teams, you'll find that sharing resources to build fortresses and armourment is where the game really gets fun.
Last night my team allied with another team, and we horded together crates of armour and guns and coordinated a strike on a new team with approximately 7 people in it. There was also a nearby team of 6 players who then came in and it was a 3 way battle. All up there were about 20 of us between the 3 teams in an all out base defend/raid. building structures off the rock cliffs to jump into their base and work our way through. Ended up as a stalemate, but you'll find the hours fly-by when you get into this part of the game mode.
Join a big group, on a popular server.
nothing wrong with the game, the only thing i have a problem with is the players.

Yes there are a lot of shitbags in the game. :) But for the most part they are a product of the system.
I actually think they need to introduce an outside factor to replace the Zombies, something that poses a threat to the more established people, so they don't grief newer players due to "nothing to do". But not Zombies.
Or Safe Zones like in Nether....<--not too crazy about this idea. Survival with a safety net isn't as appealing.

"Why is life so boring?"
"I was happy and enjoying my icecream until some bullies came and knocked it out of my hand and punched me"
"I don't have any friends who would live with me so I agreed to share my place with some hippie, but he sold my stereo to cash converters to buy weed and now I can't find him"
I believe the expression is 'Harden up, princess'.
Also... play low-pop servers, or ones with the good guns and C4 rare + uncraftable, or even a non-PVP one if you need to get better at the base game first. Personally I think PVE is mostly a waste of time and won't help you improve (at survival) at all - it can be useful for testing building ideas etc if you don't have your own server though.
Good luck, and I sincerely do hope you get better, because it's bloody enjoyable to play when you're part of a duo/trio/team you can trust, or even as a lone wolf raiding the big boys lol
The game is sort of broken right now with people abusing the wall removal glitch but I still find it fun when that isn't happening. Even though the mechanics are simple, the nature of the game leads to constant new experiences.

Raiders and Snipers patrol the entrances/exits in Nether. The safety net itself can be dangerous.
All being said, I like the OP ideal of not wanting to become a raider to make the game fun. I'm all for defending myself, but I should be able to choose not to be a douche bag and still have as much fun.
Because the content is minimal, the game direction (high concept) is rather inconsistent and lacking, and the community is pretty bad overall.
This is patent absurdity. The game is barely in alpha, and you believe there's nothing wrong with the game--that "the game is perfect." Laughable.
I'd have to agree. The highest fun factor I had in this game was near steam launch when the numbers were massive and most of the guys knew nothing about the game. We all trial and error'd until we all reached the point that the majority of the community completely understood the game mechanics. Then it pretty much became CS:Minecraft. After my groups fourth or fifth restart we got to the point that after a restart it would take less then a day before we went from cavemen to fortified cawdooty. Just like everyone else on a modern day server.
It is what it is through. As mentioned previously to death this game is actually an alpha. Me personally I'm glad that the game will soon be splitting into two branches. Hopefully they go in a slightly different direction with the steam beta opt in as opposed to the current "retail" version.
Since everyone here says that it gets funnier when you play with someone else, would anyone like too play with me and teach me more in-depth? ( raiding and such, i know how too craft etc )
Me personally I'm glad that the game will soon be splitting into two branches. Hopefully they go in a slightly different direction with the steam beta opt in as opposed to the current "retail" version.
I don't think the direction will change one bit.
What will change, eventually, is that more will be added so that direction will be more clear, more functional, and more entertaining.
Try to find a clan with people of you age. And from the same country. Or make friends with admins on the server. Mostly the admins on the server are members of a clan that host the server. So you can join that clan. There are also many posts on this forum, where clan's recruting members.

and where can i find that?
just scroll down or go a few pages back in the rust forum on facepunch. Or do some research with google. When you play on a server and there are a few players with the same tag just ask them.
i've watched a lot of videos on rust of people raiding, trolling etc having a lot of fun, so i decided too buy it and started too playing 3-4 days ago.

Why is rust so boring? Because its in Alpha and the developers thought it was a good idea to start with shit coding then change it halfway though alpha. Taking a good forever.
Boring? lol so funny. We created an arena then set up our own capture the flag, very popular. Cant understand why people think Rust is boring or if its dead, what servers do these people hang out on lol.
Boring…what?
The people that find it boring are usually not doing it right.
When I started, I was /ragequitting like a mo fo. Getting killed and looted non-stop, but I learned from my mistakes.
I always see others advise to join up with groups but I don’t like that, I like to play alone. It’s way more exciting to survive that way.
One of the first things I stopped doing was carring my loot with me. I have no sympathy for players I kill that have a full backpack, it’s just wrong.
Build a shelter, put a door on it, put a storage box in it, keep your loot in there.
Obviously this relates to starting off, you need to focus on upgrading your home but not only that. I have many bases on the servers I play on, many sleeping bags. I keep minimal loot on me when I go out and I make frequent trips back to unload.
Yes I get killed, yes I get raided but I’m never starting from scratch as I have caches of loot in many locations.
On a side note, one very fun thing I like to do is light a fire outside, put a storage box beside it. Moths are attracted to that flame, I kill them from the shadows. Much Fun.

Sounds fun, would you like too try play with me?
i play solo and do just fine on high pop servers
you're probably really bad at shooting if you just started 3 days ago
it took me probably 300+ rust hours to become a good solo player
