• Am I alone in that I just like the peaceful aspect of rust, or PvE?
However, remove a player from that server for 24 - 48 hours, and watch him be much more polite and human (kind of like how we are all somewhat normal and polite here on these forums, because when you "die" (ban), you're done.
I wouldn't agree on this myself, I'm a fairly big eve player and people will still try and kill you even if it makes them lose their ship, so long as it's profitable. That would also throw the ball even further into the court of the big groups/rich players. A group can take a few casualties and still be able to function, and the rich will have a range/damage reduction advantage. If I was barred from playing a server for a day every time I died I probably wouldn't play on the same server more than twice.
[editline]18th March 2014[/editline] Rusty, do you guys have any videos on the traps now? Actual working traps?
damnit..... I can't find the video. I will have to mock it up and do a video on it on a creative server. I'll see if my friend jediaelthewise will shoot the video for me and I'll build up the base to demo it.

You wouldn't be running around naked with a group of guys naked, banging rocks on shelters, running amok. [editline]18th March 2014[/editline]
no way i would buy this game without pvp
I was thinking about buying Banished but I prefer first person. And I'm not asking for the game not to have pvp. Just discussion, not trying to change the game.

"If someone builds or owns a convenient place, It is reasonable to expect others to come with joined forces to private him not only from the fruit of his work but also his live and freedom. The invader, in return, find himself at the same danger in respect of others." Thomas Hobbes. KOS came from freedom, fear and, most of the times, boredom. It is pretty realistic imo but I agree with you that if you can just spawn in your sleeping bag there is not a lot of damage to players in death (if they are not full geared). I try not to KOS but as naked people can take out invisible weapons from idk some of their holes, sometimes you need to choose between run, taking the risk of being shoot from behind and loosing everything you got, or just kill them and maybe gain something from the loot. This will be fixed when players´s backpacks and equipped items could be seen by other players, I think this is something planned. I have never said to others that I am friendly when I am not and I enjoy extremely when I can kill people lying like that. I would like to see no sleeping bags, just random spawns, lossing everything you have learned to craft so far if you die. A white respawn, except for the base you have built, just like any other survival game I have played before. People would think twice before killing somebody knowing that making enemies would backfire them that hard. Have you played Don´t starve thelionnessa? There is not a building feature as free as rust but it is a fun PVE survival game, maybe you like it more than minecraft. I think there is a lot of ideas in that game that could be applied to rust like the way the food rots.
Am I playing rust for the wrong reason (not that I will stop playing or other's opinions matter THAT much in my Rust life, but for discussion sake)?
If you're having fun and enjoy yourself ingame you are never playing for the wrong reason.
A game called Dont starve on steam is like rust but has no online or pvp
I've been watching videos on youtube from different forum members and I see why it's fun to go to war or have gun battles, but I actually enjoy the game because of gathering, storing, and building. Player vs Environment. I guess I've stuck around or fell in love with Rust because I always get my stuff stolen and never really have a chance to "complete" my builds before someone ruins it by putting a pillar in the middle of the foundation or something. But for me, I enjoy that aspect. I now play on an empty server because of it. I've never played minecraft and I'm not interested in playing legos, as I do enjoy the realism of the graphics. The visual of that game do remind me of legos, so I just can't get into it. Am I playing rust for the wrong reason (not that I will stop playing or other's opinions matter THAT much in my Rust life, but for discussion sake)? Also, when I watch videos of guys walking up and saying friendly, just to shoot the other guy in the face, I get turned off. I guess I play with "game" integrity in that if I say friendly, I mean it. That no longer has meaning and I know I am a girl or just old fashion, but KOS is the biggest downside I guess to PvP. No realism in that in my honest opinion. Unless it was a rock or bow battle. For the record, in Fable I refused to do anything evil. lol
I am also a girl playing Rust. I LOVE the gathering, building, falling off a cliff loaded with resources AND surviving with 5 health (haha!) and learning every last blueprint. However, some of the most exciting moments for me have come from PVP. Pulse hammering in my neck, fingers and toes cold and shivering, cheeks feeling flushed, such a sense of realism...Totally different than playing Counterstrike or other such fps games. It's not fun dying and losing all my shit but that's the obvious risk. I hate being raided. I dont do it myself unless it is to get back at the one who raided me numerous times. That's the worst part about Rust for me. It seems so easy for players to raid and not enough defense (yet) for those being raided. And it usually happens when I am offline. SUCKS. Anyway, Lionnessa, I am glad you're enjoying the game. It's the first game I've ever played where I've logged over 300 hours on. LOL.
There might be more of a PvE community on here if there was something more to do than gather, build a house, gather more, improve your house... There's no endgame to the PvE side... I've been saying this game could use more PvE oriented things.. until it gets it... people will do whatever they can to get their kicks (kill on sight, etc)
