Similar situation happened to me on two different servers, both Community. In both cases, my walls, spikes, and doors were all completely untouched, but all of my stuff (except useless junk that he left behind) was gone. Both times this happened while I wasn't able to connect due to the DDoS attack. Not sure if it's connected, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Our 6 story base was just hack-raided on North America 1.
Only 1 door was blown open into a room that had no loot, but somehow every crate in the house has been looted. Really freaking lame. The night before I was killed by an aimbotter.
First it was base griefing and now this... :[
Eventually, it seems, there are suspisious group of bandits on certain servers that have litterally the best gear, much of which is extremely rare even for a no lifer.
Signs include:
1. All bandits are wearing the same thing, usually black clothing, this is the best clothing in the game
2. They have fully decked out m4's, all of them
3. They dont ever actually meet you in-game, they just sorta appear outa no where with the best gear
4. They'll have plenty of c4, so much that they just start using it like its pocket change
5. You never notice them anywhere near your base, like scouting or anything, this is becouse they already know where your base is and what it looks like
This is usually when the smaller server communitys who have begun to establish a form of humanity start to become chaotic KOS fests. I hope something is done about this eventually.
...and they usually have strange characters in their names so admins can't ban them. Yep. These people are everywhere. Though black clothing is just leather, and not the best in the game. It is, however, the hardest to see at night. Which is probably why they use it.

This is an 'alpha' is not an excuse. This is really starting to affect the reputation of the game. I stopped playing a week ago and telling all my friends who are interested in it, not to touch the game with a ten foot pole, because of all the hackers.
Do a quick Google Search and you'll be surprised on how many hacks are out there at the moment and what type of hacks. Hackers can even loot through WALLS!
Sadly there is no video evidence but a kid called HK | Blake is hacking as well. Duped C4 came to our tower and blew every single thing up just to blow it up.

being in alpha isnt an excuse for it...?
you mean they should have everything working before they released the *POLISHING, BUG FIXING* period of the game development?
or maybe they should have altered the VAC system so it works faster for the sake of one game?

It is an excuse, it's alpha. Stop expecting it to already be a completed game.

I'm not sure if I should bother explaining this to you with your narrow mind, but I'm not talking about gameplay features. I'm talking about implementing an anti-cheat feature. Why isn't VAC enabled yet? The hackers are only getting worse and worse.

i'll try to explain this with my narrow vocabulary
VAC is enabled
VAC doesn't ban instantly
When VAC detects anomalies in the memory of games, it is recorded, and analyzed (and catalogued)
there are several reasons VAC doesn't function immediately
1: a sample of memory anomalies must be collected
2: when a cheater is detected vac makes a record of that player, waits a while and bans them, this makes it almost impossible for a scripter to fix their hacks, as they don't know at exactly what point it became detectable, or what to do to hide it from VAC
imagine this, i'm making a hack, i change one small thing, and i become immediately VAC banned- OK,i'll fix that
or
my account is recorded, several weeks pass, and i get an email saying something along the lines of "your account has been legitimately VAC banned, we can't tell you when, or what indicators we have collected, but you're banned now"
in the long term it's a better solution
i'm sorry you expect the game to be finished, exploits patched, and hackers stopped.. in the alpha version of the game and i'm sorry my mind is so narrow

Only thing I can agree with is the above. Other then that seems like anyone you get killed by now must be a hacker. hackusations all over the place.

Since when is VAC enabled?
According to Steam, VAC was not implemented yet just a few days ago. According to reverse engineers it hasn't been enabled either. Is the fake loading screen that is supposed to scare hackers, your source?

A post from Gary Newman himself, and if you do want to take the time to read the whole thing, here's the important parts...
"I am hearing a lot that you want us to do something about cheats, the aimbots and wallhacks that have cropped up recently. We probably haven’t made it clear enough what our strategy is, or how it works. VAC is active. VAC doesn’t ban people straight away. It doesn’t try to stop people cheating. It logs them. The bans are validated. Then they are all banned in a wave. This could take a week, it could take a month, it could take 3 months. But rest assured that hackers will be VAC banned – so please do not be tempted to cheat." -Gary Newman
VAC is Active? bs why this guy http://steamcommunity.com/id/351235152 who got his VAC ban 16 days ago, still playing on official servers (uk4) and still he with aimbot and dupe c4. (464hour in rust)/24 => he playing rust 19 days if no sleep and never exit..answer plz?

How long does a ban last?
How long does a ban last?
Permanently. You'll have to buy a new account if you want to continue playing which I'm sure most of the hackers will cop out to.
theres a guy ON US East Coast 1 called Computer (easy), he has only owned the game for 4 hrs, and after using 2 c4 on my 1x1 i just watched him use 30 c4 on a metal base nearby, after he head shotted me 4 times in a row
UK4 http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198012023901 aim+ tracking ( he killed me 5 times) he allways knew where from i coming in rock..he didnt hear me..coz range+ i crouch. he just hold mouse 1 and all shoots in body ( not head aim) but how it possible 100+ range 6-7 bullets in 1 sec all in my body

Killed nearly every player on Full Monty Community Server.
Would appear that our server is getting DDoS'd or something, essentially what has happened is we killed a kid.. y'know typical stuff. "jtweed96", we have all the screencaps of him saying it was him etc, we restarted server and it's stopped. idk if it's actually him but he's taking credit. Will keep you guys updated*
server restarted, lag has not YET resumed.
After trying to have a discussion about getting his items back, we declined, and almost instantaneously after banning him the lag resumed.
After searching his names through the interwebs, he goes via jtweed96 and tweedjt, his steam profile confirms. his youtube channel has a video of himself, he's got subscription to a hack forums, him and his friend confirmed that they were going to "boot" our server with his friends. Checked his posts on said hack forums, has left feedback on a free booter.
This game is 100% broken at the moment due to the incredible amount of hackers which includes looting through walls, aimbotting, spawning infinite supplies of any item, ESP (seeing people across the map), being able to see loot containers through walls, etc. I also played on North America 4 for over 80 hours building and rebuilding houses constantly just to have them raided by a few hackers and have every single supply crate and anything worth value demolished in a matter of minutes. Not to mention every single portion of my 5 story house destroyed by the infinite amount of C4 they had on them. A few hackers I have come across are: Wizard of War (who imitated Chow from The Hangover... cute), a guy named " - ", Bitch Nigga, MOFO NOFO, the list goes on and on. Something really needs to be done about this seeing as Rust is not even on the VAC enabled list at the moment (so much for being VAC secure..). Until then my experience has been totally and utterly burnt to the ground by the insane influx of these cheating pricks.

I don't suppose you have videos or anything to backup your claim.
Alternatively you could try being better.

You have to stop treating Rust as an actual game right now. It's not. It's something that is in alpha, and will still be in alpha for a while. You could take a break and come back later after a few updates and see if hackers are a less frequent thing.

Just because it is in alpha honestly doesn't give this much of an excuse for having practically no security in fact, it gives NO excuse...but waiting it out is the best option at the moment because as of now it is unplayable. It's pretty contradictory to say that hackers are okay because the game is in alpha seeing as Garry's main goal of releasing the game in alpha was to test and fix bugs etc, and to choose the direction of the game but when we can't even play the game to begin with.. it's sort of a problem.
Alpha is definitely no excuse for how widespread the hacking/abuse has become. If it was just the occasional player, then it wouldn't be a problem. However, jump on any server and you'll find plenty of item duping going on (look at that metal base, I wonder how they built that) and wall glitching/stealing items through the wall. It's completely out of control and makes the game unplayable UNLESS you accept that there is no point in building/storing anything and just play to live no longer than an hour or so.
If you want to see less hackers you need to take your level of fucks given down to zero. Hackers keep doing it because you're giving too much fucks about it.
You're like all the payday 2 beta kids screaming about cheaters cheating in a beta. They know the characters weren't going to be moved over to the final product, but they kept giving huge amounts of fucks that more and more people kept cheating.
Hackers keep doing it because you're giving too much fucks about it.
Odd. How do they know we care about it? They do it because they can. They do it because they don't want to farm, get a pipe shotgun, then build up and slowly farm and get leather etc. They do it because it is much easier to steal through walls and item dupe than it is to actually start from scratch. Why spend an hour or two farming and building when you can get it in a few minutes from hacking? That's why they do it.
