Incident report:
3 GOD-MODE hackers. Names are Dan, Yeti, and IGN. Dan appeared from no where (no footsteps were heard with max volume) outside my base. After a few short threats and insults he shot me...through the wall and barricade with a P250 handgun. I respawned at camp and inside the base's most secure area, the "panic room". Within 2 seconds I was instantly killed from what seemed like 6 shotgun shots at the same time (almost all at once). This time through 2 walls, 2 barricades and a large wooden storage by a player named IGN. After respawning and suiciding a few times, I spawned near my base to which I quickly returned. Upon arrival, no doors or structural components were damaged. After quietly stepping towards the base and entering the first floor entrance, I was immediately fired upon and killed from some other location within the base (yes, again through walls/floors/etc.). This time Yeti was the culprit. Repeat respawn and suicide method. No players were found at my base. As well as none of my metal fragments, low quality metal, and worst of all...my guns. Nothing else was touched.
Synopsis:
I google searched "rust hacks". The plethora of information I found was ridiculous. But, I was actually more insulted to find out that other than an active admin and the low chance that they may ban said players, there is no justice. Rust creators, for this you are crooks. There are not better systems you can implement to defend against this? Script kiddies have a hay day with what you have in place now. Whats worse, I hear that the official servers get hacked the most!?
The real question:
How can you make people pay for a game to play on ENTIRELY non-secure servers? Players have to risk the integrity of their accounts and the possibility of being banned just to be able to defend themselves...shame on you!
Ok hackers/Cheaters are part of almost every game out there especially when the game is in any form of beta. It is not like we are playing a fully complete and released product. You eather just accept it or quit playing.

I made very clear the ways the hackers exploited Rust's system. They made entry through metal doors without explosives, they can teleport, shoot through walls, etc....see my post #1529. Cheaters are everywhere and they are not the problem I was pointing out. What I was saying is that the Rust developers shouldn't have people PAYING for a game that can be manipulated SO EASY. Regardless of if it is in beta. Even if they couldn't implement a better system themselves, they should at least actively ban hackers. I would understand if they wanted proof, that is no problem. People post videos here, is that not proof? As the consumer, when I purchase the product I enter into an agreement with Rust developers that I will use their game the way it was intended. Rust also is committed to A: Making my experience a positive one, and B: Providing to me the product that was promised. Rust is a great game and my gaming experience has been a great one so far. But, I was never informed that other players (who paid the same amount) would be given extra privileges that give them a "GOD-like" advantage over me. That is not what I signed up for, and its not right that they are OK with taking peoples money and not holding up their end of the bargain.

People were warned about what to expect, and the game being easy to manipulate should be obvious given it's an alpha (not beta). It's not like somebody forced them to pay.

Hence they're turning things over to the guys at EAC. Their system will actively deal with the hackers much faster than VAC.

No... Any videos or pictures posted could be faked/wrong. 100% proof will come from the actual anticheats that rust uses (VAC, EAC, and GAC) detecting the account in question cheating.

Did you buy the game on steam without reading anything or what? You purchased early access to an unfinished and thus buggy game and were warned extensively that shit isn't gonna go smoothly this early in development. If you don't like the alpha experience, treat your purchase as a pre-order and come back later once more stuff is finished. Complaining that alpha-testing an unfinished game isn't giving you a positive experience is just silly lol. So is claiming you had to be warned that an online game contains hackers, as if that's something exclusive to rust.
Once the experimental build is up to date and running on EAC, shit will be a lot smoother.

I was playing on a server with 5 people, and unknown to me one of these people was hacking.
I was the first person banned, then the hacker, then a third person. 2 people were spared.
I was in hacker valley building my base and the supposed hacker and his friend were building a base on portugal mountain. I had no idea they were hacking, we shared door codes and we were in a skype call together but I swear I had no idea they were cheating, they didn't say anything about it in the call.
The admin banned me after I spent like all day building my base. I know "cry more" but still, I have 1030 hours in rust, don't you think I would have been VAC banned by now if I hacked? So lame and the admin blocked me on steam, apparently he doesn't want to hear about it.
That is why I hate hackers, because I was "guilty by association" but really we were working independently from one another, why should I be punished for someone else's wrong doings?
Not happy about it, thats for sure.

I bought a game and was shocked about how many cheaters in the game! It's the first game i play where this problem have such scope. I think, that developers must deal with it. I played about 3-4 hours, gathered some stuff which was not easy to do in situation of hostile environment and suddenly i died from a headshot from a shotgun. There even was no sound of shooting. How could someone shoot me from a shootgun from such a long range? Nonsense! And this happening not for the first time, please, do something!
P.S. Playing on UK 4 official server, nickname MrNeznaika is that guy with cheats. He just killed me once again with a headshot from a shotgun in my house. Please, make this game playable!

I was on AUS server: multiplay :: admins, no hacks, Daily drops.
what happened was some server admins decided that they will try and raid me, but because i had a fairly large base with a lot of doors and many rooms the raiders gave up.
I waited a while then decided I would move some of my supplies so I put most my important loot in my backpack and decided to move to another room.. that's when i saw one of my front doors was blown open.. So I decided to repair the door immediately. to my surprise there was still one other guy in my base.. so i quickly close the door locking him inside. he shoots and kills me and takes my loot.. however he has no way out..
So he starts crying out help for an admin to spawn him out cause his ran out of c4.. admin aware of the guy being trapped inside decides to spawn him out anyway. taking all of my loot with him..
I re spawn and go to the exact spot the guy was trapped him and see all my walls/doors/ceilings still intact..
Isn't this admin abuse!! I find if they have the power to just spawn someone out with all your loot that's just BS!! I was exciting about telling all my mates to purchase this but now seeing how the admin are I am thinking twice about this...
Please sort this out..

possibly wrong thread, since its not hacks per se.
seems like the admin either was unaware the player had looted you, felt that you trapping him was not a legit move, or was abusing his powers to assist a friend in raiding. kind of debatable. personally i would approach the admin who tp'd, and just explain the situation (without blaming or attacking them personally) and see if they will spawn the gear you lost, or steal it back etc. either way, the "abuse" label really depends on the intent behind the admins behaviour...not so cut an dry with the current details.

If you found a plethora of information on Rust hacks then you should have found that there is no such thing as a GOD-MODE hack. I'll be as kind as to tell you that, if you encountered people that were unkillable, it were the admins using godmode (which is an option to turn on or off for any server admin). Therefore it's not called cheating but "admin abuse". Noclipping/aimbotting is cheating though ;) and that sucks that you experienced that.
As for your "real question", the devs have warned you before buying the game that it's in alpha state and not even 10% finished. They are working on a new version built from scratch, you can read all about it on their official website. I won't bother posting the link, you've shown to have sufficient skills in using Google ;). And players dont risk the integrity of their accounts if they don't cheat, period. Admins can ban them from servers but that's different than being VAC banned (banned by Valve's anti-cheat) which does leave a mark on your account, this won't happen if you don't cheat though, don't worry.

I guess this is the place to put this. Help me if I'm wrong as I am new to the forums. Here is a hacker named Kitty. He came on our usually peaceful server and began to torment us. I was lucky to get it on video so I hope this helps.
[AN] Gritzalem (has a youtube channel called Gritzalem) This video shows him aimbotting me and a friend. Notice once the last bullet hits the first guy, his camera automatically snaps to my position behind a rock (which he doesnt know im there). Then, when i run out to get him from hearing gunfire, he snaps to my head and rapid fires my head.

i don't know about this one. he aims, and shoots. first kill takes 2 shots to acheive the headshot. admittedly i cannot see the second player, but if you play at a high enough screen res you could probably spot him. he's expecting you guys to be nearby in his clip.
his previous ban is related to no-recoil accusations, and his behaviour in that thread. there's recoil here though. not convinced he is hacking in this clip, but understand the expectation that he would based on his name.
