It's one to "speak things out" as you put and another to want the devs to remove the skin color.
I really like the randomization of the characters.
Removing the ability to select another in-game color, might have solve the problem that would have been if customization was allowed.
Ideas like this should be in every damn game. Might fix our civilization being stuck in last millennium.

It's getting worse every year, We have the New Black Panthers group talking about walking into hospitals and killing white babies not long after they were born(US), we have sex grooming gangs targeting white female teens(UK), we have farmers and their families being murdered and their land taken as well as all White people being banned from owning land (South Africa), we have radical religious extremists targeting white people simply because of our cultural differences(EU) and then we have and finally we have sex groups targeting White Traditions(marriage and morality) simply because they don't conform to their sexual needs. This is something white people are facing everyday but most of it you rarely hear about simply because its not considered news by mainstream media outlets but it seems more and more white people are waking up to these facts.

I hear white people complain about reverse racism and just sigh -- at least here in the U.S.. An anecdote doesn't make a trend, and instances of white people being abused due to their skin color are such isolated events as to be incredibly novel, while blacks and minorities have to suffer through incredible injustices on a day to day basis. Sure, it sucks those white kids couldn't get into a meeting that one time (probably the only time they've ever experienced anything something like that), but you can't honestly compare it to the systemic racism we face; it's like you're conflating the value of a dollar and a penny. Sure, your examples probably have some validity -- but you can't bring up South African racial issues without mentioning apartheid, and you can't bring up the NBPs without bringing up Stop and Frisk or slavery (or a host of other things, really).
And yeah, when it comes to deciding that something as arbitrary as race determines what 'team' you're on, there IS something wrong with saying your team is best. Why not root for humanity as a whole instead? Seriously, Thor, I usually agree with what you post, but this is utterly fucking ignorant.

I think most white people simply don't see it. They don't have a frame of reference to understand the incredible scale of institutional racism that exists, because they aren't constantly harassed solely by virtue of their skin color.

yes and no. i think a large portion of blame can be applied to education in general. here in Australia the majority of institutional racism against the aboriginal people is swept under the rug in our schools; we get taught about nazis and pol pot, but not our own failings since they are embarrassing.
it is easier to understand racism when you personally experience it, but any racism is disgusting, regardless of whether "racism experienced by you" is "worse" than "racism experienced by me". it's all subjective, we need to remember to appreciate that.

In Prototype 2 you're not playing an avatar of yourself, you're playing a character in a predefined story. You even see him in third person.
In Rust, your character is just an extension of you, and you make your own story. In these sorts of games people tend to want to be represented by a character who's as close to them as possible, which is why the big 'playercharacter customization boom' happened a few years back.
I do think this is an interesting experiment, though.
This update really poorly designed.
By keeping this update, it's making real world interaction race-bias an [U]actual gameplay element[/U].
Why would this ever be a good idea for a fun gameplay mechanic?
Solution. Make everyone purple. Win:Win. Nobody can be racist. This no longer becomes a problem, fun resumes.
Just because I can put real world socio economic issues into tetris for example, doesn't make tetris more fun.

You still didn't answer the question, you seem to try to dodge it all the time, IN REGARDS TO THE [B][I][U]GAME[/U][/I][/B] what do you want to do about this matter? do you want them to remove the skin colors and leave only the white bald clones again or what? you're complaining about a matter that doesn't have anything to do with a game's subforum and you bring absolutely no solution to it, the most you can do is report their steam ids with proof of what they did and hope for them to get warned or banned

When the developers introduce a part of the game that directly changes players' behaviour in said game, it has everything to do with the game. Do I have a solution to the issue? Not a comprehensive one, no but there could definitely be better ways to prohibit said behaviour in the game; freedom of speech and 'expression' shouldn't come at the cost of using someone else's race or heritage as a means to insult or attack them and whether you like it or not, the developers [B]do[/B] have a responsibility with regards to that, as they created the game.

The players were like that before they added the color they just didn't have the means to use their racist jokes or w/e because everybody was the same. IT is still racism but you said you don't know how they can do anything against this. Removing the skin color would be idiotic, censoring would be the best option(at least that's the best option that I can see) and atm you only have chat disabling, the topic doesn't really help the game in any way, it basically is a discussion about racism in general.

My idea as I said before would be to have some sort of censorship ,either individually like in WoW, where if you don't want to see insults you check the box OR they can make a system so that when someone says "nigger" "nigga" "n1gga" "n1gg@" and other racial slurs with combined symbols then the player gets muted for a day to talk in Rust or on that particular server, reporting them to steam is almost pointless.

Guys, pretty sure this thread is just derailing further and further at this stage.
introducing races to the game did not start the racist behavior, it just gave it relevance. it's unfortunately a sign of the caliber of some people who play this game, but it is not new, either in game or in real life.
the solutions IN THIS GAME, as i see them, are A) give a mute player function to stop players having to hear unwanted voice spam. B) have it also mute that players contribution to global chat. C) have admins issue bans for unwanted behavior; players with similar political views can then play together in peace.
i would not have a chat censor, people just mis-spell words to get around them, and can always use voice to spam instead.
play with people who share your world view; nothing is making you stay and play with these racist dipshits. we don't need to discuss racism like this because it will have no effect on the majority of the idiots.
Introducing races increased the disgusting behavior and language. Rusty has a lovely little admin feature that kicks based on a word filter(if it would work), words the admin chooses, not from a database. This should be a built in feature to the game in my opinion.
Right now the only bad thing about the game is the players and their behavior. Too many kids are allowed into the game, and today's society includes far too many 20, 30, 40 and even 50 year olds trying to act cool and be 'down' by using extremely offensive and shocking behavior as a way to get attention and look tough or cool.
What is going to stop this game from being one of the top games ever? What may eventually destroy the game? The behavior of it's players. Less people will purchase it the more the behavior of it's players is brought to light.
Now signs are coming tomorrow. I am already dreading the shock-me messages that will be used on them. It is going to be hell to admin the disgusting, low minded, asinine messages.
I know Garry, Facepunch Et Al. show up in game, but do they actually play as a player? Do they see the hive of scum, racism, and deplorable punk ass behavior that the server have become? If so, does it bother them at all? I get the sense that they do not even know what goes on in the servers. At least I hope not, the alternative I simply do not want to believe.
I am hoping that some time in the (near) future more ways to prevent racism, bigotry, bullying of female players, and the general low life shock-me behavior that players exhibit in order to garner attention and look cool to others will be built into the game, so the admins will finally take up the responsibility and make the server environment a better place to play the game we (I) love.
