This game runs WAY better on Ubuntu. Alt-tabbing is pretty fast, doing anything else than Rust isn't slow. FPS isn't really higher than on Windows, but it's way more stable.
Windows 7 Acer Aspire M3970 Intel I-5 2320 @ 3ghz 8 gig RAM ADM Radeon HD 6450 I am not much of a computer spec whiz, so for a gaming computer this may be a bit light. Thoughts? Getting 13-21 FPS with all sliders down to zero.

I think it depends, not sure on what. My friend has a way crappier AMD card than me, but runs on full HD with "good". Meanwhile I'm running on Simple with 720p with every quality in F2 disabled or set to lowest
same problem here GTX 960 it really sucks only use 30-40% of my GPU i hate this -.-
i7-4770 gtx660 full hd "fantastic" 38-60 fps. press alt+ctrl+del set the rustclient priority high, set affinity to last 6 cores only.
Meanwhile I have a new graphics card.. GTX750.. Still not solved.

Lowering screen resolution and disabling shadows should both help FPS. Use graphics.shadowdistance 0 in the F1 console. Lowering draw distance can help too. You have to find the best lower graphics settings for you.
