I'm just so sick of the threads that try to find creative and sometimes sneaky ways of trying to get the devs to go back to legacy. iTS fucking dead get over it already. Wood piles wet silly then and they are silly now. The trees being chopped down and providing wood resources to build with makes perfect sense, stumbling across a pile of wood already cut for you in the middle of no where is retarded
We ALL understand the thread starter but doesn't mean we have to agree with him.
OK lets make a conclusion:
I dont want have too much grind gameplay. I want a good compromise. :)
Fair enough, some people want easy mode and some people want a challenge it's all good 😀

I dont want to have an easy mode. BTW is cutting trees a challenge for you ??
there are a few things i hate. the term "ez mode" is one of them...
woodpiles could make sense. but keep in mind they were in experimental for a while, and eventually phased out by the team. they were looking at phasing out ore nodes too, having them as a layer over the top of normal stone elements. or replacing stone elements all together with collectable rock.
we have rocks and single planks of wood we can pick up in the dirt. maybe that's where this could be reimplemented. have them variable, anything from 50 to 300 of the resource, and have the "pile" scaled accordingly.
I agree that farming wood is boring as fuck:
1. because there are not enough natural threats in the game. If we had more dangers in the overall environment, farming wood might actually prove to be some sort of challenge by itself
2. Wood is also stoopidly costing a lot for everything, especially to make the furnaces work --> we should be able to use low grade fuel for furnaces when out of wood. Due to this, wood is the major trading currency in the game, when because it is so cheap it should be worth nothing.

3. in 7 Days to die, when a tree crumbles because it had been completely harvested, it makes an insane noise in the surroundings. And you can only gather wood after it crumbled. This makes sense : chop the tree first, gather wood later, face the consequences of the noise you made. This game mechanic is GOOD.
In regards of 3. the various tools already at hand would change how fast you can chop down the trees (hence how many damages a tree takes depending of item used) so that you can go faster in harvesting before someone/something comes, attracted by the noise.
I think your problem is a spiritual one, you need to learn to achieve Zen when farming for wood, don't think of anything else, just farming wood. don't think about how boring it is, don't think about how much work it is, don't think about your constipation or genital warts, Just keep your mind clear but for the farming of wood. You'll find its very calming and relaxing, i like to listen to Mozart, Chopin or Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries while farming, i once farmed for 21 hrs straight no problem.
but grym, how is that good fun to you ? if it was exploration farming then sure. you just yourself stated to rust was hammering simulator when you used 16000 hits to finish your base with the hammer, how many hits on trees do you think you did when your farmed 21 hours straight ? i think its a about the same so why do you like it on trees but not your base?

not a bad idea, but still the trees proximity make it ridiculos still.. it will just be more standing around again because of forests....

Mate i ABSOLUTELY LOVE Farming, I'm not kidding, its what got me hooked on Rust, it helps that i have moderate OCD and Hoarding issues, plus that Zen thing is no joke i find it peaceful to farm resources all day.
Sometimes i sing Smurf songs while i work.
I don't count the hammer hits any more, i accept the fact that it needs to be done and no longer worry about it, this is clear indication of my Enlightenment, a shift to a higher phase of radical thinking and wisdom, i think this started when i decided to grow a beard which is now 6 inches long, i find myself stroking it and contemplating complicated thoughts and wisdom. I think you should grow a beard, maybe you'll stop all this huffing and puffing about wood stacks and realize the truth, Trees are better than wood stacks.
Yeah what he said lol. Trees just make more sense, I do wish they were more like 7 days to die though, the latest update has the trees causing damage when they fall. Gonna change a lot of gameplay if you can drop a tree on someone's base 😀
;48095155']I'm not even a PVP enthusiast, if I killed 10 players in my last 1000 hours of gameplay I'd be surprised. That said, the most important thing this game had/needs is that feeling that at any time in your game play you can get headshot without any warning. This doesn't happen unless you're on a very busy server because people just don't NEED to meet up in game. On a server with 10 players your chances of meeting someone are really slim, everyone is in their little part of the map, doing their thing.
If there were 5-6 wood spawn areas like Legacy, you'd meet people constantly.
Also I said confrontation but I meant socialization as well. Could be two newmen meeting and decided to join their efforts, protecting their backs or even making a base together. Could be two random peeps meeting and trading... Could be a geared guy who meets a newman and gives him extra stuff he doesn't need..
Whatever it is, I think a multiplayer game should promote player interaction and the way Rust is and is headed right now is a bit the opposite.
Me and My friends terrorysed our server the hole day raiding everyone. 20+ People band together against 3 to destroy us... there is a lot of Player interactions

Not saying it doesn't happen, I'm saying the game is evolving in a direction that does not promote player interaction. No need to move for trees... More nodes now so easier to find them near your house.. Crafting time is long and you loose your queue when you die or get disconnected, so people stay in base to craft.. Quarries and farming must be used outdoors and ultimately protected if you want to reap any profit from them so you need to stay home again to protect your investment... and so on and so on.
You could stay in the same 10% of the map all month and have all you'll ever need.

The actual gameplay does not promote to discover the world. You have all stuff near your house. On my last Server i was 90% in the same area, because there was no reason to discover other landparts. Only for raiding does i discover other landparts.
